  • We cannot allow CEOs like Dr. de la Torre and wealthy private equity executives to treat our health care system as their own personal piggy bank. We have got to make sure that what happened at Steward never happens again.

      Sure there's a few that have empathy, etc but nobody literally cares more than Senator Sanders. The DNC I've lost ALL respect for because they were unfairly biased against Bernie in 2016 & 2020. Debbie W S congresswoman from Florida I no longer support - I wish some TRUSTWORTHY Democrat would challenge her.

A lot of people quit, people who had been there 20+years. This administrator ruined a sister facility in the same town before coming to our facility, he said we had not been profitable in 5 years... He is gone now. He also cut a lot of the trees and shrubs and threw away all of maintenance's spare parts. But he did not care that the water in some toilets was running endlessly...

      Not a good idea. That would place healthcare at the mercy of local awareness. I challenge anyone who thinks they know something about being poor and disabled to live on $0 day with only food and medicine. We have officials proposing we take those things away too.

    • @patriciacvener1968
      @patriciacvener1968 20 дней назад

      @@SaveOurDisabilityFund No, that would place the hospitals, clinics, etc in the control of the people who staff those places. And that would be true socialism. Those are the people who understand the needs of their patients and their own needs. Not just doctors, but the receptionists, nurses, cleaners, technicians, etc. Remember, those people work there too and they are also deserving of a vote in the enterprise. In other words, no more corporate owners, no more venture capitalist owners, no more doctor-capitalist owner. And, yes, they would have to be answerable to the community. And yes, they would be so much more aware of the needs of the local community.
      With this set up everywhere, and a commitment to caring for everyone, poverty can be made obsolete. The only reason we have poverty is that we have an employer class. I am convinced that I and everyone else in similar conditions would not be poor if we got rid of the employer class. Sure there's more we need to do, but that would be a hell of a great start.

      @patriciacvener1968 Every kind of person exists in healthcare. Honest and dishonest. There has to be more than a singular mechanism in place to ensure safety, honesty, quality, and compliance with regulations and/or procedure. If your doctor lies to you so they can get to lunch earlier in order to hit on the hot new nurse obviously that's going to affect the quality of healthcare you receive. No industry or profession can be trusted to self regulate.
      If I claimed to be the fattest man on earth wouldn't you want me to step on a scale rather than just take me at my word?
      I don't trust a religious institution to hire medical staff that knows or cares about patients needs to provide the best care possible. Right now we have hospitals owned by religious institutions. They're an obviously antithetical figure to be reaching into medical science.
      Obviously you're not suffering with a complex disability if you think every doctor and nurse you encounter is guaranteed dedicated to the purpose of their current tasks. I would never wish my disability on anyone but I can't stress enough the need for regulatory standards. There's huge gaps in what we have now.
      Mayo clinic for example is no longer a place for ordinary people to go if they want quality care. They have too much money and standards are often set aside. They coast more on their reputation now. You'll only get quality care there if you're rich & famous.

      @@SaveOurDisabilityFund You know I really hate it when someone thinks they can assume to know anything about me from just one online, youtube conversation. However, I will attempt one more response then leave it alone.
      I believe we are looking at the topic from very different perspectives. Mine is theoretical and future based. Yours is based in the pain and brokenness that pervades society now. In that respect, I understand your reticence. But even now, not all doctors or PAs or anyone else behaves badly and dishonestly. For example, I am a survivor of childhood rape by a physician, but I do not (any longer) assume every physician is a danger to me. Moreover, even in my scenario it is not a single entity that would be "in-charge." And there would be processes to see that no one is left to fend for themself. Neither patient nor staff.
      Lastly, I am unsure why you are bringing religion into our conversation since it does not, as far as I am concerned, have any place in our dialogue.
      Be well.

    • @SaveOurDisabilityFund
      @SaveOurDisabilityFund 20 дней назад

      @patriciacvener1968 Your comment was about "democratization" of hospitals. I don't disagree with the sentiment. We do have far too many maverick industries that just run over the rules and people watch too many news stories that involve people "overcoming" their disabilities or conditions. When the reality is more often people having to live with them and you can't get quality care through self-regulation. Doctors and patients tend to make decisions about what choices are made but when procedures are done there needs to be standards and I don't have time for dictator doctors that decide on their own that the blood of a virgin mongoose is a viable treatment option.
      The wellness industry exists alongside of healthcare but unlike healthcare workers they aren't regulated. I don't believe that industry should be allowed to feed on funding that is intended to actively help those in need of quality care. What you'll end up with is pseudoscience that won't be effective at treating your ailments. Government has always had a role to get to where we are. We can't just abandon that so a yoga enthusiast can get insurance money and pretend they're providing medical care. Yoga isn't medicine but the enthusiasts are always trying to get their claws into doctors so they can get your insurance money. The only thing that prevents that is regulation and standards of care.
      Religious institutions own the vast majority of hospitals in the US. They control the funds and decide on religious basis what procedures are allowed. They are why we have abortion bans. They directly affect the care we all receive. You cannot have a fair discussion about hospitals and healthcare without bringing them up.

    “Corporate said no,” I bet my life that most people can relate. How many of us depend on corporations for our survival? They’ve got us by our balls and necks. Americans must unite, educate ourselves, and ORGANIZE to change the status quo. We can do it but if we don’t we will not survive. The best way to honor all the victims of corporate America is by dismantling the evil that has possessed humanity to be complicit in its extinction. Will humanity prevail?

    Fantastic the de la Torre grifter should be in jail.
    This happens to companies all the time through private equity in venture capital. It is atrocious that it happens now within the healthcare system.
    Whoever captured this video made a big mistake and should have had the caption at the bottom left at the top right.
    You cannot see the people's names or their badge monikers on the desk because you have put the health education labor and pensions committee.
    Over virtually everyone's name who is speaking .
    If you notice that that moniker is putting over someone's placard on their desk during the video move it and put it in a different corner..
    What's amazing is this guy did not show up to the Congressional subpoena and he is out walking the streets. The guy should be in jail...
    Our government has been bought and paid for by lobbyists and special interests this is an oligarchy,. Not a Russian oligarchy a United States oligarch..

    This is not surprising. It's been pretty obvious that care has gone downhill due to understaffing. How abhorrent to do that to our medical community, particularly to nurses. Is it any wonder there is a shortage of nurses? NOT acceptable!

    Universal Healthcare would solve all this. That's why they don't want it. These people need to be charged with crimes against humanity. The lot of them. The families who lost loved ones at their hands need to be compensated with the profits from the sale of their material goods.

    The financial industry's takeover of our health system guarantees that medical costs will only increase to bolster shareholder's profits. What incentive is there to improve health outcomes for patients when denying the use of better but more expensive diagnostic tools or expensive but better treatments is best for the corporate bottom line. Patient health or their bottom line - which will they choose?

      Trump has been bought and paid for by the rich tech bros. Peter Thiel and elon musk were the reason he chose JD Vance as his running mate. His tax plan was prettied up by small tax cuts for the middle class and HUGE tax cuts for the rich. He also rolled back since of the protections of the dodd-frank act which were regulations passed after the recession to try and stop some of the risky practices of investment banks. He also ballooned the deficit almost 8 trillion dollars because of his tax plan. He's also promised elon musk a job slimming down the government in exchange for millions of dollars.
      I assure you, he cares nothing about the middle and lower class other than their vote. He's said as much.

    If anyone is still behind further privatization of government SERVICES/agencies after hearing this, they are part of the problem. Corporations may be really good at making money but only for the C suite and investors and sometimes after reaping profits, they just go bankrupt showing that they are not really good at business either.

    As Milton Friedman instructed, the American producers, corporations owe nothing to customers, communities, or any subdivision on being associated with any corporation. The only commitments a corporation owes is to the stakeholder, stockholder of a particular corporation. Other entities associated with corporations are not relevant to the present economic system presently implemented in the United States.

    These rich politicians and billionaires controlling them need to put THEIR money into these institutions and implement the changes needed. Until we make them (the billionaires and politicians) put THEIR money into the public sector and make it NOT FOR THEIR PROFIT, this will continue to happen. Billionaires only want more money.. they do not give two shits about the individual. I am not a socialist but I am not for this type of capitalism.
