Kenneth Cremeans please note your own biases. Remember, the HomePod was meant for people already in the Apple ecosystem. Even Austin said the assistants are near each other, with Google Assistant ahead. HomePod has better sound quality and better room filling sound. I really didn’t expect Austin to be this positive about Apple, he’s more of an Android and Windows user, yet he tries to work with the facts and knows where his biases are. Google Home Max is louder. Google Home Max has a USB and Aux jack. I’d say they’re pretty similar in quality. Sound definitely goes to HomePod. Functionality for most people is the Home Max. Assistant, Google. I know I have my own biases, but I try to take them into account. Disclaimer: I like both Android and Apple, yet have only had minimal experience with Android. Would still like to try it out, though
Rhonel Spearman That is true, but this is first and foremost a very high quality speaker, with a bit of Siri integration to it. If you want only a smart speaker, the Homepod is not for you.
Legit legitness The Google home Max is 50 dollars *more expensive* than the HomePod, and every person that has heard both tells that the HomePod has a much better sound quality than the Google home Max.
I completely understand the logic on Apple's side though. The only people who would remotely consider this are those who are already deeply embedded in Apple's ecosystem. Spending $350 on an assistant speaker that can't do have the things the next guy is doing is ludicrous, even if the merit of great sound offsets that. You can buy a Google Home Mini with Chromecast audio and pair it with a great set of Standalone Speakers and it would sound better than the HomePod.
I agree, however Apple owns the Beats brand which has speakers that are Bluetooth etc. Might be to avoid competition between their own products. No Bluetooth is going to suck for house parties and android guests. The top circle should be Qi charging imo.
DLo it also plays mono when it's standing upright. It'll be stereo when it's on its side. Also it can be paired left and right channel with more separatation with two GH Max's

No. It has a bluetooth chip, but no bluetooth.
ast5515 your idea of a stupid amount of money is different from some people’s. Apple consumers are usually willing spend extra money on things for their quality and reliability. Just because it doesn’t support Spotify doesn’t mean the end of the world.
I have been a HomePod owner for around 4 months now. The sound quality is excellent no matter what song you are playing. Airplay works perfectly allowing me to stream music from my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. On the other hand my friend owns the Google Home Max which has okay sound quality but for the size of the max it’s not a great quality/size ratio. As for Google Assistant it repeatedly disconnects itself from the internet, meaning you have to constantly reconnect it. Also the max needs it own shelf or table due to the size meaning it’s not practical to have on your desk.
Are you a die-hard audiophile ? Get a studio grade speaker... Are you casual listener ? Get a Google home... There's no need to get the worst of both worlds

Hi Austin, I fully agreed that if you are using Siri Assistant, than HomePod we may considered. If SOUND Quality is what we are looking for, at a price of 350 you can purchase a better SOUNG Quality speaker .... Thanks
Love your song choice. Hotel California is no doubt one the best songs even in the current age. I hadnt listened to it for ages, but hearing it reminds me of the good old times.
H3dPh0neS No shit how about I make an investment that will cost me billions of dollars just to put all that money down the drain and be homeless and unsuccessful
@Butter scotch, and some chinese speaker you get with chips: $0.99 - what's your point? only google home max can be at least compared to the sound of homepod. regular google home stays in amazon echos' league. And it's not overpriced. It just doesn't fit into your budget. Like most of audiophile audio systems. Accept it.
I think the HomePod is great, even despite Siri not being on par with the competition. Think of it this way - if a company releases a speaker that has sub-par hardware, the consumer is left with bad sound quality no matter how much the software is tweaked. Starting with a terrific piece of hardware instead of rushing to have the worlds best assistant at launch seems like a great move from Apple, and I’m excited about future software updates that bring Siri up to speed with the competition.
for 350$ you could get a focal alpha 50 studio monitor whose woofer and tweeter are hand made in france and engineered to actually reproduce music almost perfectly.
But at least it's compatible with standard bluetooth (i.e. any smartphone) and has aux, therefore I would be able to play some of my songs that are not on Spotify and other streaming services. But if you're looking for a speaker to listen to music, then you should avoid these anyway.
The apple homepod exists so apple can make a quick profit off its fanboys, it doesn't appeal to anyone else If your appeal is audio then you can just buy a top of the line speaker and connect it to your google home mini or amazon dot. If your appeal is for the assistant then you can just buy an amazon Echo or a google home. If your on a budget then you would just use your phone and connect it to a bluetooth speaker. In all honesty i think that all home assistants are really primitive right now and are no more useful than a smartwatch was in 2015 mostly because everything these gadgets can do are the same things your phone can do even more efficiently
Timothy Flores I do think it’s stupid that it’s so locked but if you are in the ecosystem fully, these is a perfectly good speaker and does not have too many flaws... it’s a fine speaker and it’s not just for mindless slaves
Hey Austin, this is guys! You need to keep the MAXX in landscape mode for stereo mode.. When kept vertically, it's use is for multiple Google home speakers running in parallel..
About the 360 sound, In normal use almost everyone will place the speakers in corner or side and not in middle of a room, So Google home max's directional sound makes much more sense.
Apple Home Pod: $350 Marshmallow
Google Home Max: $400 Bread loaf

Barts Face you are really unintelligent
craycrayfish 451 If you call everyone who likes an Apple product just a little bit they apparently are considered extreme Apple fanboys. In reality, you are the blind one.
Barts Face seriously?
Home Pod?
More like *TIDE POD*
Jesal Vyas XD
But can you do..... THIS???
Jesal Vyas that is outdated
More like toilet paper
OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOHOHOHOHOOOHOHO
Hi Austin, I fully agreed that if you are using Siri Assistant, than HomePod we may considered. If SOUND Quality is what we are looking for, at a price of 350 you can purchase a better SOUNG Quality speaker .... Thanks
When he spoke "hey google" my assistant activated 😂
When he said ‘hey Siri’ as I was watching this on my iPhone, it switched to Siri.
Ethan Haarer stop lying. You need to register Siri to your voice before that can happen 😒
no giant stabey knife needed
To get money out of the Apple Isheeps
Google home max is more expensive but you are not complaining.
Srdjan Smudja because when you have two other cheaper options who the hell even buys the max.
Love your song choice. Hotel California is no doubt one the best songs even in the current age. I hadnt listened to it for ages, but hearing it reminds me of the good old times.
some of these youtubers buy computers, tablets, phones for $1k plus but a $350 speaker and its like omg its gonna break my wallet lol.
Why does the HomePod exist?
Me: Beacause of apple...🙃🙃🙃
hey guys, this is justin
hey Biebs!!
Why does austin evans exist in 2018?
Merpysoup Why does apple exist in 2018?
Humane Music why does yahoo exist in 2018?
Coz he's a lovely man
Hey guys, this is HomePod. THIS is the Austin Evans. And at 2,807,783 subscribers, I have exactly one question: why does it exist?
This video was suprisingly good and relevant. Good job!
On paper, this *sounds* good.
Apple want money :D
Cant blame them. Who doesnt?
H3dPh0neS All companies do.
Isn’t that the point of making successful businesses
H3dPh0neS No shit how about I make an investment that will cost me billions of dollars just to put all that money down the drain and be homeless and unsuccessful
so does ant company but apple won't make much money at all from a speaker so your point is mute.
Because Apple wants your money, nuff said.
Hope you feel better soon! Great video!
Austin: Why does the apple©️ HomePod exist?
Me: So apple©️ can make money
Is it worth it?
Awwwwwwwwwww Austin is sick 😓
?
Mr.Pigeon it looks like he has a cold or something
Ok...? But why "awww"?
Mr.Pigeon because sickness ain’t a fun thing friend
XGamer But he's not a baby. He can take care of himself 😂
As usual overprice tech by apple
Hadyan Rifqi Antoro
Do your math:
HomePod: $360~
Home Max: $400
Finn Tran regular Google home: $99
@Butter scotch, and some chinese speaker you get with chips: $0.99 - what's your point? only google home max can be at least compared to the sound of homepod. regular google home stays in amazon echos' league. And it's not overpriced. It just doesn't fit into your budget. Like most of audiophile audio systems. Accept it.
Hadyan Rifqi Antoro as usual some random Samsung fan boy
Luke Mattson or connect it to a good speaker most people already own?
Me: "Hey Siri, play One Vision by Queen"
Assistant: "One Vision by Queen, sure. Playing on Spotify"
For 350 you should expect a good speaker
for 350$ you could get a focal alpha 50 studio monitor whose woofer and tweeter are hand made in france and engineered to actually reproduce music almost perfectly.
for $400 google speaker, you should expect it to be better in audio quality than $350 homepod, while its not
But at least it's compatible with standard bluetooth (i.e. any smartphone) and has aux, therefore I would be able to play some of my songs that are not on Spotify and other streaming services. But if you're looking for a speaker to listen to music, then you should avoid these anyway.
it looks like a roblox character head XD
The apple homepod exists so apple can make a quick profit off its fanboys, it doesn't appeal to anyone else
If your appeal is audio then you can just buy a top of the line speaker and connect it to your google home mini or amazon dot.
Thanks Austin,When you said Hey google my google mini activated
Hey Austin, this is guys!
You need to keep the MAXX in landscape mode for stereo mode.. When kept vertically, it's use is for multiple Google home speakers running in parallel..
Nahhhhhh Siri is traaaaaaash
Lol $350 apple Homepod vs $30 Alexa? Who would ever buy this
Its a speaker so you really should compare the quality of sound dumbass
tim dook then you would buy an actaully speaker and not these smart speaker shit.
Saif you can connect the dot to the best speakers in your house
Aizaz Pirzada if it's based off sound I rather get a 3rd party speaker off Amazon for like $100 you can find much better quality for "cheap."
I don’t want a shit speaker dumbass
Google home is better :P
Doge not in terms of sound quality
Best joke of the year
whitebeard007 50 dollar google home mini linked to a 100 dollar hifi system could kick it's ass
Total_Epicness 100 dollars is not enough for HiFi lol
Get a home mini and two Sonos 1 speakers or wait until they have Google assistant for the same price as this.
“Hey siri is going to be said many times” all my iphones went off... thanks austin... 😂
You should have flipped max on its side. It's made to be on its side in a one speakers scenario
Next thing : apple toilet (9999999999 $ ),so you can speak with siri while pooping 😂
Well the homepod already looks like a toilet roll so maybe that's the plan
Hey siri flush
LOL XD
Me: Hey Siri, blghlbglbhhblfhlvgvvvvvvvfffff
Siri: I can't search the web.
It shouldn't.
I bet it's the same size as the trashcan Mac pro.
About the 360 sound, In normal use almost everyone will place the speakers in corner or side and not in middle of a room, So Google home max's directional sound makes much more sense.
Austin the God Of Existence
