Thanks for sharing. Awesome chairs, so light, strong and elegant. These chairs would easily outperform any wooden factory chair. These items would make excellent displays in the Victorian Museum at Ironbridge.
We had a guy in our department that was a bit wordy when it can to staff meetings. I made a speaking stick as a joke and took it to work. It was big enough that if someone didn't respect it, it could be used as a tool to quiet them down.
Thank you. I know short grain wood (ie beech & sugar maple) checks less than long grain wood (ie oak & hickory). I have worked some persimmon dough trays and had about 3 of 4 season without checking. Maybe get my old cooper's adz & spoon knife out and get back into it thanks to your posts.
That basket is stunning.
Thanks for sharing Harry work commitments meant I could not attend as planned but lovely to see the entries and winners. Well done to all.

Lovely
How would you stop the wood splitting when drying?
aurora0l Dry it slowly...wrap with damp leaves if need be. There is less stress in thinner even grain sections as well.
Harry Rogers thank you
This is Ron Swansons heaven
I like a lot
عبدالعزيز المناعي thanks
How do you keep the green wood from checking as it seasons?
Gerard Johnson smaller sections tend to check less and bowls and Spoons are sometimes dried slowly with moist leaves and or clingfilm!

Did you enter anything Harry?
TheMrWoodsman Not this year!!
Doesnt the wood twist and crack as it dries out?
john smith not very often as it's been cleft...for example the spindles on my workshop chair are straight!
Harry is it possible to make a shave horse out of green wood an still stand up over time.
John Hammack yes it's probably the best way to make one...it will season and be good.
Now if someone could just lay one out with all the measurements. WINK WINK. thank you for your reply. Have a great day.
John Hammack John I have posted a film with measurements....or you could make one of Sean's..a couple of films ago!
Thank you Harry for your fast response.
