  • How to Loom Knit a stuffed toy and add weight. Sarah’s Cuddly Monster is a weighted toy to help those suffering from loneliness, depression, anxiety or any form of mental illness. My hope is that it will be one tool that can be used in the process of self-healing and restoration. Read her story at the end of the written pattern.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to add the extra weight. It is added because it has been shown to settle breathing, lower heart rate and promote relaxation.

Sending Sarah much love & prayers 💕 I am so thankful that she has found the help she needs. As someone who has suffered with depression for over 40 years (1 suicide attempt), I can tell you it's not easy, and it takes courage to ask for help. Thank you dear Denise for posting this! Sending you a BIG hug!! 😘😘 As for the monster, all I can say is SUPER adorable!!!!! I am on vacation for the week (tomorrow is my birthday) and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to make my own monster!!! Thank you for all the great patterns and videos that you do to teach others how to make such amazing things 🥰 I love you, my friend! ❤❤

I survived a suicide attempt, too. Like Sarah, I suffer from anxiety and depression. I lost my son to those. I’ll be keeping Sarah in my heart. Thanks for this video, Denise. And yes - if you’re suffering, please reach out. The world needs you

So glad to see another pattern!! I have made your other dolls and a therapist recently purchased your life size chubby baby doll to use in her office with trauma patients. I am a retired clinical social worker who had to go on disability due to the severity of my own mental health disorders. Now I crochet and loom knit Christmas gifts for kids in foster care. I occasionally sell something to help pay for yarn, etc. Do you think you could make a doll pattern with the bottom half swadled by not loom knitting the legs. The doll is made wearing a sleeper that bags the body. No legs or feet showing.

I haven’t knitted with two strands yet, but I love the look! These monsters are so adorable and the weighted aspect is amazing. I was working on another project that I decided to weight (after you inspired me) and got some knee-high hosiery to put the beads in. I forgot that I had already used the bottom portion of the sock in a prior project and began pouring the plastic beads in before I knotted the end… I’m still finding little plastic beads on the floor! 🤣 The weighting does add such a comforting heft to the toys. 💙🧶💙

Oh Denise-you are truely an angel! 😇 The end of this video made me weep.😭 So good to know that this young lady is receiving the help she needs! I have felt dispair in my life but thankfully, have not been to the point of taking, or considering taking, my life. Please, to anyone reading this, know that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The problem may seem insurmountable but with preserverence & even just a little help, you CAN overcome. The pain & dispair WILL pass. Grab a loom & some yarn, make yourself one of these fellows, and hang on for dear life. You will be so glad you did!

This was a very cute and adorable project 👍❤️ as for the end of the video, my heart goes out to Sarah, send her lots of loves ❤️ and lots of love to all here too!!!
( A form of poetry to those who need to hear this and to know you are truly loved, really you are... so a verse or so to know :
“Remember tomorrow is always a better day and there is always someone around who truly does care, they care deeply about you, if you know it or not, no matter what is going on there’s someone that does care and loves you, always, just reach out to anyone or someone for they will be there who does really care, that someone for you will truly be there for you, just know this, open up and reach out, to someone to anyone at anytime, because life is hard, and at times give a long cry, and try, for if someone knows you’re in need, then by knowing surely that someone will be there for you indeed, just look deep and see and you’ll find that love is really all around, you just have to open up for it to be found, for life as hard as it is, tomorrow will always bring in a better way, a better day, you only have to reach out and share, that this is what life is about, someone being there who truly really cares... and believe and know that someone somewhere truly does care and they really do love you” ~A.J. Doyle~)

Are any type of plastic beads ok to use.? Like the plastic beads you use for necklaces

    • @LoomaHat

I would think it would be fine. I was thinking of using pony beads cus I have sooOOooo many. I think anything that is not parrishable would work fine.
