this game is too beauteful. Loved it. Loved art style, sound, music, voice acting, cutscene movies.

I love how this is perhaps the only game where completing it quickly is a good thing. my record is about 2 hours. the world record is 40 minutes.

i think it is 34 minutes but with a segmented run sonebkdy managed to do it in 26 minutes

TheRealToaster2 Yeah theres different levels of experience there. A newb runs through it like in the video. someone whos played the game once or twice jumps over or slides under. A pro (ahem), wallruns on the wall to the left and goes over it all

I still vault over the railing because it puts you up too max speed instantly.
7:22 First weapon pickup. Lolz. Took me a while to figure out that you could pick up weapons.
2 reasons to love this game: it's forgiving (checkpoints are convenient, there's a button to tell you the direction you're supposed to go, and the loads are quick after you fail) and Faith has personality without whoring herself.
I always go to this channel when looking for game reviews. Always.
Though it may be short, the time trials and speed runs (Which happen to be online) Are amazing. They add about 6-7 hours to the game!

I loved this game, personally one of my favorite games to date. Like you said it's not perfect but I enjoyed it a lot. I think stopping and looking around trying to figure out where you have to go is part of the games charm. Kind of like a puzzle, trying to figure out what ledge or what building to jump was one of the things I enjoyed a lot.
I agree. Free roaming would be awesome. Some new moves or a 3rd person option would work wonders for replay value.
I'm actually really surprised that Mark didn't like this game as much as I did. I remember watching this review years ago when I first got my PS3, and because of this review I was in no rush to get this game. I only finally got it weeks ago when it was $5 on PSN, and I finally started playing it yesterday.
In my opinion, this game is absolutely amazing. Just finished the story. Once I started it I couldn't stop playing. I rarely do that. Only the best games make me not want to play other games until I'm finished.
In my opinion this is one of the best games of last generation so I'm really surprised it didn't get more praise from Mark.
My only complaints is the game can be frustrating sometimes and the parkour occasionally can be a bit wonky and random. Especially when you try to do the races or time trials, it's easy to get pissed off about the game not really functioning the way it should. Same with the combat.
Otherwise this game is stellar and everyone with a gaming PC or last gen console should absolutely play this game. There's no fuckin excuse not to
There aren't many games in which the level design is so awesome and realistics that it makes you consider going back to school to study architecture. =) I'd really like to know what other titles the level designers have made in the past because the amount of love and effort put into Mirrors Edge is simply astounding. Especially the level with where they were renovating an high lobby was just genius. I could almost actually SMELL the fresh drying paint on the walls. Highly recommended game!
@CrossoverGameReviews no its not a first person shooter, its more of a free running building climbing game but its got a bit of shooting.
Mirror's Edge looks, feels and plays great. The soundtrack is awsome and contributes in an excellent way to the atmosphere of the game. Story mode plays nice and the speed runs are also great. Excellent!
I didn't say I heard it was hard, I said that everyone has been saying that it's frustrating. What Mark says in part 2 of his review is exactly what I've been hearing from just about everyone.

Yeah that is true. I think this is better if you plug in a controller in the PC and play on your couch or something. This game is a masterpiece of just having fun and feeling like a badass
Well they are making a sequel now, seven years later. I played the beta, it was pretty good.
This game was just amazing. IMO the best graphics in a game yet (besides Killzone 2 maybe) and the soundtrack was great, and it was just so intense.
It's funny because the first time I saw this game the first thing that I thought of was Run Lola Run. Such a great movie.

I just completed this game for the first time recently and my final verdict is mixed. On the one hand, I admire how unique this game is. The art design, vibrant graphics, cut-scenes and parkour concept for gameplay are all highly commendable elements but on the other hand, this game could have been much better than it is. The trial-and-error nature of the gameplay mechanics can be very frustrating and the difficulty curve doesn't make it that accessible to more casual gamers. Still, I liked it.
the runner vision is kind of ironic , because the whole game is based on escaping full surveillance and what you get here is a totally predicted track :D.
I still love this game because of its atmosphere.
He's not doing either of those while he plays. The "filming" is done by a machine that records all video and audio coming from the console and the speech is added during the editing.

Me too! The graphics run smooth at 60 FPS in my computer and it looks better than games that are limited at 30.
BEST SOUNDTRACK, BEST STORYLINE, BEST IDEA WITHOUT CRUELNESS, EXTREME GRAPHICS.......... BEST GAME EVER....... I WANT SECOND PART :)
Yeah. Like Beyond Good and Evil, this game is underrated. I hope they make a sequel with a open-world and a better story.

I love platformers like Prince of Persia games. So I really enjoyed the demo of this game, and I was really looking forward to it. But I hear a LOT of people say the game is very frustrating due to certain level designs and things you have to time perfectly. I will still check this out when it's cheaper, but from the sound of all the criticism, I would like to see them make a squeal that fixes the problems of this game.
But seriously, playing this game was such a breath of fresh air. The parkour (is that spelled right?) action is extremely fast-paced and frenetic, but I honestly can't recomend this to anyone who is an FPS-aholic...
This game takes the speed of Burnout, the physics/feeling of momentum of Portal, and the constant on-your-toes move combos of a fighting/skateboarding game (ex: run-jump-grab-turn-jump-wallrun-turn-jump-swing-release-curl-roll). Don't bash this game from lack of guns-n'-gore.
no i think the slow moments in the game are necessary, they are puzzles. You can notice because in those scenes no one is chasing you, and there is a certain theme whistling in the background that always comes up in these puzzle segments...
I fucking loved this game. Ends short... but sweet and high replay value with challenges and time attacks. The Soundtrack was epic too...
true that few games give that feeling to you. The newer metroid games or silent hill games are the only others that i can think of that can give me that same feeling.
This is, and always will be, my favorite game.

Yea, some people have been giving Prince of Persia heeps too because you basically couldn't die. But the game is about running fast and doing acrobatics. Constantly dieing and starting the level over would just brake the flow.
I don't know why people complain about the combat. Combat is not the focus of this game, it's not a FPS. The gameplay is about running, and platforming.
despite what everyone says, parkour isn't that hard to learn, you just start with the really small stuff and work your way up (start with jumping over knee / waist-high objects, then move on to jumping fences without slowing down to actually climb them, like at 2:20) just make sure you're with a few friends though, it's a safety precaution in case you misjudge something and actually hurt yourself, you'll have someone to help you out.
@tehhkrmn65 Oh yeah, I forgot to add that it is on the XBOX 360...I jus said PS3 because i saw the gameplay demo on the PS3...And thanks for trying to keep the peace...
Also I played this game now the second time, and today it will be the third time because the art, the parcour style and the (imo) wonderful storyline such as the comic cutscenes are everything a game needs for me. All in all it should have been much longer and a bit more comprehensive. 9/10
This game was great. Yeah, the story was silly but the gameplay was so refreshing and exhilarating.

The game looks so much fun, and I always watched it up untill release with great anticipation, but there isn't enough content to justify me purchasing it.
this game was very interesting i enjoyed it. althought some of the jumps you had to do scared the shit out of me even playing the game im scared of heights.
I loved this game. The dude is right, it is better the second time you play it through cos your more experienced and feel like a pro free runner.Also, on xbox 360 there's a cool acheivement called "a test of Faith" (relating to the character's name; Faith) where you achieve it if you complete the game without shooting anybody! It's tricky but fun. This game as awesome!
Got the game for 10 bucks on steam when it was on sale, damn worth it. I wouldn't say worth 60 (launch price) but 10 was certainly more than worth the risk and it's a fantastic game.

the engine was slowly loading the level so you don't have to stop and load as much unless you where super fast
That is because the HD option appears only like an hour or 2 after the upload.
Now, I want to get this game. I was on the fence for a while but now I want to get it.
It's got a good sound track, if they ever make a second it has to have an awesome soundtrack, fun game but very short (depending on how good you are and difficulty)
We want a new Mirror's Edge on Frostbite 2!! We = All the gamers who really enjoyed Mirror's Edge 1. Smooth movements like in part one and Battlefield-like gun handling would be perfect. I can only imagine how beautiful reflections, destruction, waving flags, breaking glass, etc.. would look in the cool and futuristic city of ME. Mix it up with a great story, told in 3D perspective this time, and you have one of the most amazing games ever made!!
This game is fun, exciting, frustrating, and it's not easy later on. This game is art, it should be treated as art. The animated cut-scenes are the artistic expression of the team, it's beautiful.
Damn I love this game. They should have included level editor into it. Left me crying for more. Hopefully they'll continue to do games like this.

It is, it was also on sale for 5 bucks on steam. Right now I think it's 10 bucks but for 5 bucks how can you go wrong?

I know right, it feels like a tech demo to a game with much more potential than it allows us to play.

Both HD game consoles (PS3 and X360) have really hard time rendering at higher resolutions than 1280x720. Consider that this is basically mid-high-end GeForce-7 era hardware (DX9c). Already one generation above that the shader performance was at least doubled, and now we're way beyond that on PC.
Not really annouced,but Theres been word of the new Mirrors edge being in Development and planed to be released on the new consoles. Some other youtubers have also said the same
I'll give you a trick to go faster, smoother, and maybe make the 'frustrating" parts less frustrating. Don't move the left analog stick; keep it tilted forward at all times. Only change directions using the right analog stick. I noticed in yhour video that you move Faith as you'd move a regular FPS character, and that's what we see in almost all reviews: people use both analog sticks for displacement and change of directions. Just to keep the left analog stick pushed forward for smoothness.
They are very different games, Left 4 Dead (2) is a fun online FPS game with great action and nice online coop, depending on your competitiveness it will last you quite a while. Mirrors Edge is a fun singleplayer deal, which lasts you maybe 8-10 hours. Mirrors Edge is like a puzzle game, the puzzle is to find the way. Both games are unique (Mirrors Edge especially). If you like Online FPS L4D2 is the way to go, but considering Mirrors Edge price (14$,amazon) you really can't go wrong with it.

You left the mighty cirlce strafe. Circle strafing is far more important than crouch, jump, roll!
@PSspecialist I do agree with you! The more original games tend to slip by the main stream. I guess people are more comfortable spending money on a tried and tested formula, and I guess I can understand that.
It is kind of a shame, because I want creativity to be encouraged. I haven't played through this game but I adored the demo. Breath of fresh air! I haven't played Okami yet, but it's something I've been interested in for a long time. I do like archetypical shooters as well, though.
i think the red gives it a monochromatic feel.... just with red instead of blue
1,220th liker! LOOOOOVED THIS GAME ON THE PS3! Still got it. The theme song is literally kick ass! Wonder if there's gonna be a Mirrors Edge 2. If there will be, hopefully it'll be on the PS3.

This is a fucking GREAT game. After playing it for a while, and then going to an FPS like CoD, you wonder why your character isn't vaulting that eight foot fence.

I personally think the only thing they got wrong with this game was how they were trying to go away from the concept of "running" at times. I mean near the end - you had to fight and stuff...I think you should be able to fight...however you SHOULD NOT be forced to fight - that just pissed me off a little.
I think the level designs got a bit similar near the end of the game as well...so...that's one other thing to fix up.
BUT THIS GAME REMAINS BEAUTIFUL AND DAMN IT I WANT A SEQUEL!

great game for ps3, my only problems with this game is that the game involved a lot of trial and error which results in death another i had was that since that most of the color screen was white i had to constantly adjust my brightness so that i could see other than that its a must have for ps3
@miStiKredum classic game room is the name of the show. it was the first ever internet video game show from 1999 so that's why it's called classic. you're not a CGR fan aren't you?
Yeah, I loved this too m8. Have it for the PC. I saw a DLC pack, was a crazy map, I think for consoles only, its like an island full of blocks and massive drops to jump around on, looks AMAZING! And I cant get it on the bloody PC, ARRGGHH!!!
