The talent is is almost too hard to comprehend... Celtic Woman... especially Meav and Lisa.. so beautiful and voices that can only be from heaven... I'm blown away every time I hear either of them. When the sing together...OMG
I really love listening to this song, especially when I'm watching it and can see the dreamy expression that Méav has as she sings. I only wish I could sing it as well as her!
She IS an adult. It's Chloe who is a child still when this was filmed. She is no novelty nor circus act but a world renowned Irish musician who is a coloratura (high range) soprano. Meav is gracious, knowledgeable and talented.
I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls With vassals and serfs at my side And of all who assembled within those walls That I was the hope and the pride I had riches to great to count, could boast Of a high ancestral name But I also dreamt, which pleased me most That you loved me still the same That you loved me, you loved me still the same That you loved me, you loved me still the same I dreamt that suitors sought my hand That knights upon bended knee And with vows no maiden heart could withstand They pledged their faith to me And I dreamt that one of that noble host Came forth my hand to claim But I also dreamt, which charmed me most That you loved me still the same That you loved me, you loved me still the same That you loved me, you loved me still the same
MEAV NI MHAOLCHATHA .... Meav....she is like an angel..There is no one who can sing with such loveliness as Meav sings. Meav is now VOCAL DIRECTOR of CELTIC WOMAN and guests with the group at times. There is no one who has ever been missed so much as Meav is missed with the CW group.
Also, I would never mistake her voice as the voice of a 6 year old. I sing in choir as a soprano and Meav's voice is pretty much the golden standard of sopranos. I know I wish I could have anywhere near the maturity, range, and control as her someday.
How wonderful. Just, so Beautiful, So pure, Timeless, perfection. Beyond words. A precious, gift, that brings so much joy, to my heart and soul. A voice of an Angel, and, the Beauty of one. too,Thank You so much for posting. Love and peace to everyone. LOL.
No, Celtic Woman doesn't use autotune, and they don't lip-sync. You've heard so much synthetic pop that you can't recognize the real deal. She sounds like a child because she's using the top end of her formidable range to emulate the child character in the original opera. Look up "Dulaman" in the "A New Journey" concert.
So awesome - one of my favorite songs just because she sings it so well. I wish she'd hold that high note just a little bit longer just because it's so beautiful.
This is not a cover version of a song by Enya. Enya's version is a cover version of the song from Michael William Balfe's operetta "The Bohemian Girl" and so is this. Which version you prefer, is a different thing. Also, Méav does not sound like a six year old, nor is this autotuned. Why do people constantly insist on especially popular versions being the original versions of a particular song? That's especially common with classical or traditional pieces. Personally, I love the song, I love Méav, I love this.
Anyone who thinks this is autotuned has no fucking clue what autotune sounds like. Protip: autotune adds a weird gurgly sound to music, like someone is singing underwater. It's really, really easy to spot, which is why these days it's not actually used very much except in self-conscious ways.
Compressed, small-screen video doesn't do her justice. I'd seen her on RUclips before, but when I watched the "A New Journey" DVD on my big HD screen, I was amazed. From a front-row seat she must have been overwhelming.
Stephen....Meav is gorgeous from anywhere that one would sit in an auditorium. I have been with Meav in many many concerts...from Carnegie Hall to Nashville to Quebec to Ireland to Red Rocks...and on. I have sat in many many seats ... even on front row center and in the balcony....Meav is just like an Angel on that stage as she sings and glides from place to place. God has given her a voice and a talent that is beyond heavenly. And, Meav's loveliness matches the talent that she has been given. Meav is shy ... very shy. She is very humble. She is kind and sweet and loving. We are so very blessed to have Meav and her songs in our lives. ... Sandy Harlow... Co-Admin of Meav's Celtic Songbird Official fb Forum
@xxAtlantianKnightxx so true. Meav is obviousl loveing what she is doing and i am glad too. She is so pure and i absolutely love her and her voice. i'm sad she left celtic woman but she won't be forgoten. I love you Meav
This is a lovely song, sung beauitful by this singer. The song of course is from, " The Bohemian Girl, by Michael William Balfe. First performed in 1845 at Drury Lane, London. Balfe was born in Dublin and there is a Street there named after him.
Lyrics: I dreamt that suitors sought my hand, That knights upon bended knee And with vows no maidens heart could withstand, They pledged their faith to me. And I dreamt that one of that noble host Came forth my hand to claim. But I also dreamt which charmed me most That you loved me still the same That you loved me You loved me still the same, That you loved me You loved me still the same.
OHEMGEE!!! in my long time of listening to the celtic woman here on youtube and on their two cds, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I AM EVER HEARING THIS SONG, and for that point, this is the first time i even knew this song existed???!!!
@gennybrigid1729 No. It is titled "I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls"; it is form the English opera "The Bohemian Girl" by Balme and is from 1843. Listen to Jessye Norman who sings one of the most excellent aria versions of this.
I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls With vassals and serfs at my side, And of all who assembled within those walls That I was the hope and the pride. I had riches all too great to count And a high ancestral name. But I also dreamt which pleased me most That you loved me still the same, That you loved me You loved me still the same, That you loved me You loved me still the same.
There are so many singers who try to sing this and so few who get that rapid note change right: 0:25, 1:13, 2:07, 2:41 On top of getting that just perfect, M'eav has a lovely, angelic voice!!
ths song is very pretty. The first I herd of it was when watching Meavs interveiw on youtube. I dont remember at all hearing ths song and I regret never knowing about it until now.
I've listened to this one which is live and then I heared the recorded one, and I have to say that the live one is way better and a lot more beautiful than the recorded one, but the recorded version is still lovely. I love Meav and I wish so bad she was still in Celtic Woman
Beautiful Lady, of my Dreams, you take me to places, I've never been, Like a siren Temptress, you call, and Beckon me, with your sweet, alluring song. A poem by, Peter Dome. 15/4/ 09. Love and Peace to everyone. thanks for posting. LOL.
@richiedrr "Doesn't anybody find it odd that a hot blonde in a low cut dress sounds like a 6 year old?" No, I don't find it odd at all. I focus on her singing and not on her dress/ body like you obviously do. This song is about childhood memories and dreams. The song was originally written for a young female singer with a high voice range (soprano). As far as I'm concerned, Meav performed this song perfectly.
Enya showed a bit more emotion and was more apt for the role. But, I love Celtic women. My late husband always said the one who plays the violin was his girlfriend. Bless his heart. They added quality to his life. Ronsie
@Ruijor I love Enya's version as well - she does such a dreamy version of this song. But Marble Halls was intended for an operatic voice. It's from the Irish opera The Bohemian Girl by Wallace. Still, I love the way it lends itself to so many interpretations.
I don't care what any one says... Every girl in that group can sing their but off. There is always someone who has to complain about something. Anyway, congrats are in order here. She sounds absolutley wonderful!!! I want every one of their CDs.
good thing he didn't see your comment Tess that you left in the marble halls bohemian girl 1936 comment section under odiofero's original response cuz hed know your crazy and bullshitting him
It doesn't prove that. If it proves anything, it is that only trained operatic singers should sing operatic arias if we want to hear the best that the composer intended. Look, I've never heard of Enya, but I listened to her singing this, and it was just awful. It is entirely possible that she sings other types of music well. I do not know. All I said was that she was insulting the composer by singing an operatic aria when she clearly hasn't had her voice trained to sing opera. It isn't a question of taste - it's a question of ability.
They say not to whistle on stage because sailors would man the stage ropes, and they would use a series of whistles to tell each other to pull what ropes.
I totally agree. Please people know what you are talking about before you try to one up someone. This is definitely NOT Enya's song. It even appears in James Joyce's short story "Clay." The book it appears in was published in 1914... I don't think Enya is that old.
It's true that enya didn't write this song, but celtic women only did two of enya's songs & enya did write those songs & perform them first. I suppose people just interpret this song as enya's because she's more recognizable than an opera. Celtic Women do covers of other songs by other artists. Anyway, I think Meav sings this beautifully, and is a good version of this song.
I agree that she had an airy quality to her voice for this performance, but she usually has a very full sound. I think she went for the airy sounds to give and "dream" quality to the song. Same principal as using echo or other voice enhancements. I think it's appropriate for the song...
I didn't know Enya lived in 1843 to sing the premier of the Bohemian Girl; and boy, I wouldn't even pay to hear Enya singing opera. GET YOUR FACT RIGHT before you say it.
Ok. First thing Celtic Woman is in no way, shape for form auto-tuned. I had the pleasure of working with them when they came to Buffalo NY this year. (NO AUTO TUNING) the way you hear them on their albums is how you hear them live and they are amazing. And auto tuning makes the singer sound artificial, the ladies of celtic woman have a pure and genuine sound.
She sings like an angel
Her voice is like liquid crystal. Beautiful
The talent is is almost too hard to comprehend... Celtic Woman... especially Meav and Lisa.. so beautiful and voices that can only be from heaven... I'm blown away every time I hear either of them. When the sing together...OMG
Well put ....and I might add that there is only a very short list of singers who could pull off this feat. Meav has a rare set of impressive skills.
Meavrox...Perfectly said, She's beyond incredible. She was gifted with satin vocal chords!! Beautiful!!
Hands down, the best version of this song I have heard. Beautiful
enyas is far better
Jaynah M agreed
Beautiful and moving. Her voice is like the finest crystal. Liquid crystal.
the grace and elegance is to be cherrished with her angelic innocent voice..
This is embodiment of the genre; what makes the mythology and legend of ancient times come life.
I love her airy high voice, it's gorgeous and unique and comes from great talent not lack of talent.
This song makes me really happy! I love her voice! :D
again, rather the point..
There's something unearthly and divine in this!
Thank you Anna ....spot on ! And yes.... our Sweet Lady Meav has a uniquely distinctive and angelic voice.
I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls
With vassals and serfs at my side
And of all who assembled within those walls
That I was the hope and the pride
I had riches to great to count, could boast
Of a high ancestral name
But I also dreamt, which pleased me most
That you loved me still the same
That you loved me, you loved me still the same
That you loved me, you loved me still the same
I dreamt that suitors sought my hand

They pledged their faith to me
And I dreamt that one of that noble host
Came forth my hand to claim
But I also dreamt, which charmed me most
That you loved me still the same
That you loved me, you loved me still the same
That you loved me, you loved me still the same

Meav is BEAUTIFUL
Also, I would never mistake her voice as the voice of a 6 year old. I sing in choir as a soprano and Meav's voice is pretty much the golden standard of sopranos. I know I wish I could have anywhere near the maturity, range, and control as her someday.

Estoy escuchando a un ángel 💕
"Celtic Woman".
That phrase lets you KNOW it's going to be heavenly.
they have angel's voices....ridikulus.
Her voice omg it sounds like an angel's
which is rather the point..............if you know the opera

Angels on earth.
So awesome - one of my favorite songs just because she sings it so well. I wish she'd hold that high note just a little bit longer just because it's so beautiful.
I love this song - I always sing the words I know and kind of breeze over the rest...I just love singing it
How beautiful and soothing! As I listened, I could feel my my stress level dropping. considerably.

I sure know! :D

The original version of this is over 100 years old
Absolutely beautiful!
My mother used to sing this song when I was a child. I just happened to think of it, did a search, and...well, I struck gold!
Shes amazing! Love celtic woman, my favorite group forever!!

such a difficult melody .. sung tone perfect and with feeling ... brilliant !!
Agree!
So gentle and beautiful.

La musica y las voces que the haces sentir in heaven
Most excellent song and very relaxing!

It is my song, I always will be womanish. 😁🏰

omg i cannot stop listening to this song.. its so dreamy =]
I love this song. And Méav obviously does, too- just watch her face as she's singing!
Absolutely gorgeous...
Enya? Enya who? Meav OWNS this song as far as performing it in front of a live audience!!
There are so many singers who try to sing this and so few who get that rapid note change right: 0:25, 1:13, 2:07, 2:41
On top of getting that just perfect, M'eav has a lovely, angelic voice!!

my gosh i love her voice
Pure Perfection
Just heard Sissel from Norway sing this and CW has GOT to get this lady to do a performance with them.
My cousin used to sing Marble Halls many years ago when we had a Ceilidh in a farmouse parlour in Ireland
That's my favorite from the original CW album. 💗🎶
I love this song!
My favorite is Hayley Westenra. She is beautiful and has a voice of perfection! She also sings my favorite songs.
I've listened to this one which is live and then I heared the recorded one, and I have to say that the live one is way better and a lot more beautiful than the recorded one, but the recorded version is still lovely. I love Meav and I wish so bad she was still in Celtic Woman

Love and Peace to everyone. thanks for posting. LOL.
This isn't the version I know, but it is just as beautiful......
Thanks :)
How can I pick who I like better when Enya and Meav are both my most favourite singers in the whole world?
i must sing this for my end of year in music college if i can do it that dremy and gorgeous ill be happy!!! unreal!!!
I would love to hear Orla sing this song. I think she would do an amazing job.
Such a pretty song. :)
Wow!
Meav imo is the best singer of the troop, but all of their styles are unique to the group and they are all great at what they do =D
@richiedrr
"Doesn't anybody find it odd that a hot blonde in a low cut dress sounds like a 6 year old?"
No, I don't find it odd at all. I focus on her singing and not on her dress/ body like you obviously do.

@Ruijor I speifically prefer this singer because her voice IS operetic - high and sweet and dreamlike.
@Ruijor I love Enya's version as well - she does such a dreamy version of this song. But Marble Halls was intended for an operatic voice. It's from the Irish opera The Bohemian Girl by Wallace. Still, I love the way it lends itself to so many interpretations.

I know this song!! Enya sang it.
+Dodge Heavy Duty Yes, she did, unfortunately. Listen to Jessye Norman to hear it sung correctly. It's an operatic aria from 1843.
good thing he didn't see your comment Tess that you left in the marble halls bohemian girl 1936 comment section under odiofero's original response cuz hed know your crazy and bullshitting him
Everything I wrote is true. No nonsense. The aria is for opera singers, not chancers like Enya, whoever she is.
just proves youve got no taste

Definitely.
I miss meav too. I do't think celtic women is too bad, but I definatly get what people are saying.
LOL! That is really funny, cruel, but funny. xD

Gotta admit, I like this better than Enya's, and I am a huge Enya fan.
Actually, most of these songs are extremely old. Enya covered this one. This song is actually from, roughly, 1843.
She has the perfect voice for this piece, and it isn't electronically enhanced at all.
I still love Lisa Kelly

@ShinobiSasukeUchiha i agree, who else left the group?
多么美妙!
wish this was on the CD - wish she hadn't left wither, even though I would in her position
