UN CALLS FOR INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY

The United Nations has urged for global support for countries like Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and other Caribbean islands impacted by the devastating Hurricane Beryl.
The Category 5 storm has resulted in at least six casualties and caused extensive damage to residences, infrastructure, and essential services, including power and communications.
The UN says it is deploying additional emergency teams to assist the existing agencies in the affected regions, although the difficult logistics due to widespread destruction and constrained access pose significant challenges.
Concerns have also been raised about Haiti's precarious situation, which was exacerbated by the hurricane and existing security issues. The UN is preparing to provide assistance promptly to these areas both during and after the storm.
