Hello! I'm growing avocado indoor also and hoping to make a video about it so I looked for a channel and I found you. I lived in a tropical country before and I knew and grew avocado already but it is my1st time in Japan which has Winter season. Let me share to you how my tree is doing. I have coffee tree, passion fruit and pine apple too. Good luck on your channel. I just found yours and subscribed. Happy Growing!

Hello! I am glad you found my little channel :). Winter season can be a little hard, espescially with the dry air. But they often come back strong in spring (if they have enough nutrients!). I will gladly watch your videos. Thank you, and good luck to you too!

I think one possible problem might be the composition of your new soil. It looks considerably compact and moisture retaining. My tree is on year 4, had its BEST spring/summer yet and is now dropping some old dying leaves for the winter. I’ve always added in other plant matter or perlite in with my mix. Seems to have been working but I do have to water it like 3 times a week in the summer

Yeah, I have been a little worried about this. But the soil is actually the same as I used to repot last time. It has a little sand and bark and stuff mixed in it for drainage, it’s kinda hard to see. I have been thinking of trying some perlite, I don’t like how it looks tho 😅. Could be easily solved with just a top layer soil to hide it, now that I think about it 😊

The tree is kinda dormant now, healing it’s wounds, but it has not gottan any worse atleast. We will have to wait until early spring next year I am afraid for an update, or else it will be the most boring video 😅.
Thank you for your support! 😊

That looks really wired to get that from a window, I think you should investigate what kind of glass it is.
Also you should look for reflecting spots (sun cats)

I don’t think it’s the fault lays in the window, more that the trunk was completely exposed to the sun. In hotter countries where they grow avocados, it’s normal to paint young tree trunks white, to avoid this. I don’t wanna paint my indoor tree white tho 😅

@@NordicPlantLover In that case i bet your lucky golden watering can is the best option ;)

Dont worry. Avos can be sooo fussy. I live in a coastal city in South Africa. My neighbour has a MASSIVE 40 year old tree and my friend a 30 year old. Both planted from pips - not grafted. They DRIP with avos and are massive 10 to 12metre high trees. My 16 year old tree which is planted on the other side of a mesh fence 5 metres away hasn't produced a single avo! And another neighbour has a 4 year old tiny tree also planted from a pip which produced 2 avos last year... so who knows? Only the avos. We get extreme heat and humidity outside in summer 30⁰C plus and it gets pretty cold in winter ...i know you're going to laugh... when it drops to 11⁰C brrrrr... and these trees do just great. We're on very poor sandy soil (ancient dune podsol type soils). Love your Litchi growing. Thank you

Thank you for the support 😊. I hope it recovers well and come back strong in the spring, it hasnt gotten worse atleast, I think its kinda dormant at the moment.
Haha yeah, 11c cold is kinda funny 😆. We had -20c here one day a couple of weeks ago 🥶. Having my own fruits one day would be a dream!

Yeah thats pretty concerning especially because this thing is six years old i think? But i have two things to say first of all i think really soon you should stop picking it up from the trunk when repotting it, it really stresses me out because im worried that the whole thing will break off. Second of all of course its being sad you are not watering it with your lucky golden watering can🤦‍♂️

It’s 7 years old now 😊. The trunk is getting really sturdy at this point, and Im not sure how else I would get it out 🤔. But the lucky golden is so small! I wish I could find a bigger can that was equally lucky. But one can only dream.
