Many people hear those recaps of Cayce's readings and don't bother to investigate any further. But if you do look further, you are not disappointed!

Probably the most definitive source I know for details of Cayce's biography is the book "An American Prophet" by Sid Kirkpatrick. He was given months of direct access to the original Cayce readings and other documents in writing the book. I can look up the page numbers from it, if you want to see what he wrote about the incident. What "source" did you rely on for the version of the story you mentioned?

Hi Change Capability Institute: From our perspective, the various books/chapters/verses of the Bible also contradict themselves, so Cayce is in good company. (smiles) Cayce's readings said that the Bible contains the word of God, but not every word in the Bible comes from God. Such is the nature of God giving us free will to chose as we like. However, for the discerning mind, God's word is still in the Bible if we know what to look for. If you find yourself feeling afraid, shamed, or guilty because of what you read there, that did not come from God. If you find yourself feeling loved, encouraged and supported, those words of wisdom definitely come from God.

If all you want is Cayce's words, I'm a little surprised that you wanted to watch a presentation about Edgar Cayce's readings (ECRs). Realistically speaking, all anyone can do beyond what the DVD offers is display ECR quotes followed by their own "take" on what was said. There is no official position, creed, or theology involved with the ECRs. His readings warned against making a religion out of the information. Instead, they were to help you be a better [insert name of your preferred religion here]. I do hope you will buy the ECR DVD, or become a member of the A.R.E.!

You are correct in that none of the Life Review experience (NDEs) are intended to make us feel bad in any way. However, we do have free will and we can choose to feel bad about choices we've made or regret our "sins of omission" where we are shown the opportunities we had to help others and didn't follow through. I'm pretty sure Steve had that part in his presentation at some point, though he may not have led with it. Public speaking is not without its challenges!

Hello Kitty! I can see how the cliche or quote could be taken in a negative sense, but it surely wasn't intended that way. I've always understood it to mean that the best of humanity is in the image of God. Also, that the way things work in the spirit realm is reflected or has a corollary in how things unfold in the manifest universe.

I had a revelation today about that statement. I see it as a tree. You can’t have sturdy branches without sturdy roots, meaning, you can’t discern the good in something without first knowing it’s opposite or its evil. For example, I can’t know the good in mercy if I haven’t known the pain in sin. Unless I have felt loneliness, I can’t fully feel the bliss of connection. It’s why people want to go back to childhood so bad. It’s not until they have felt the weight of the world on their shoulders that they can appreciate the carefreeness of childhood.

Hi Norm: Yours is a great question and one I am glad to answer so that any confusion is cleared up. Like the Cayce readings explain, and I believe, God has no gender and neither do we souls...unless we assume a physical form. So why use male pronouns when referring to God? Here's why doing so works for me... First, I feel such a close connection with our Creator that using the non-gender specific terms works against that. I tried calling God things like Creative Spirit, Father/Mother/God, First Cause and any number of other terms. None of them fully expressed my preference of "family". I could just as easily use female pronouns in addressing God, but I defer to Jesus' consistent use of male pronouns (e.g. He, Him, etc.) as the better way as long as we understand that God has no gender.
My experience with "God" could only be described as the Divine Feminine. Glorious, effulgent beauty, sublime love, and ecstasy. If any gender is to be applied, it should be "She." "God" or "Source" is everything that is feminine in nature. Gentle, compassionate, beautiful, etc. I feel that masculine qualities refer to the physical form. Feminine refers to the spirit. Even primitive man as an agrarian society, worshipped the Divine Feminine. The women for their ability to give birth, for their beauty, their love. And for the Earth/Nature for its bounties. There was a great appreciation for the creation of life, from plants, animals, to each other (human beings). It makes me wonder where we would be as a society if we placed emphasis in our conceptualization of "God" as being feminine in nature, so that we focused on the abundance of life, the beauty of it. Rather than worship the intellect and power that creates it. Because as I learned from my experience with "God," there is no "power" involved, as that implies "force" is applied. Which is vulgar. Instead, "God" creates through "Her" glory, i.e. the "power" of her beauty and love is so overwhelming that it manifests "Her" will. All things come into existence and OBEY because of "Her" glory.

Hi Paco: The Edgar Cayce readings (ECRs) agree with the Bible in that all that existed before the beginning was God (pure Consciousness). Since there was no manifest universe until God said "Let there be light", that means there was no matter, or energy, and no physical forms at all up to that point. The ECRs also say that we were created in the image of God, which means that we too have always existed as pure consciousness...even before the beginning of manifestation. With that background, it is understandable that the body's description at 5:30 in the video was that the body is NOT part of the soul. If the complete soul existed before the body was created, then that is logical. What Steve also said was that our body conforms to our soul, which makes it a mirror for who we really are, but no more a part of us than a mirror is of all it reflects. Cayce's readings said that the Bible contains the word of God, but not every word in the Bible comes from God. Such is the nature of God giving us free will to chose as we like. However, for the discerning mind, God's word is still in the Bible if we know what to look for.
If you find yourself feeling afraid, shamed, or guilty because of what you read there, that did not come from God. If you find yourself feeling loved, encouraged and supported, those words of wisdom definitely come from God.
You only see it like that because thsese "key concepts" you were taught are utter bullshit and you have been brainwashed to accept the church 's dogma as infallible truth.

You can either purchase a DVD with 14,350+ readings on it, or access the database online by obtaining a membership with Edgar Cayce's ARE at www.edgarcayce.org.
If all you want is Cayce's words, I'm a little surprised that you wanted to watch a presentation about Edgar Cayce's readings (ECRs). Realistically speaking, all anyone can do beyond what the DVD offers is display ECR quotes followed by their own "take" on what was said. There is no official position, creed, or theology involved with the ECRs. His readings warned against making a religion out of the information. Instead, they were to help you be a better [insert name of your preferred religion here]. I do hope you will buy the ECR DVD, or become a member of the A.R.E.!

I wasn't the one who gave this presentation (John Schroeder here), but I can clarify information you may have missed had you stayed with the video. You are correct in that none of the Life Review experience (NDEs) are intended to make us feel bad in any way. However, we do have free will and we can choose to feel bad about choices we've made or regret our "sins of omission" where we are shown the opportunities we had to help others and didn't follow through.
I'm pretty sure Steve had that part in his presentation at some point, though he may not have led with it. Public speaking is not without its challenges!

I can see how the cliche or quote could be taken in a negative sense, but it surely wasn't intended that way. I've always understood it to mean that the best of humanity is in the image of God. Also, that the way things work in the spirit realm is reflected or has a corollary in how things unfold in the manifest universe.

I had a revelation today about that statement. I see it as a tree. You can’t have sturdy branches without sturdy roots, meaning, you can’t discern the good in something without first knowing it’s opposite or its evil. For example, I can’t know the good in mercy if I haven’t known the pain in sin. Unless I have felt loneliness, I can’t fully feel the bliss of connection.
It’s why people want to go back to childhood so bad. It’s not until they have felt the weight of the world on their shoulders that they can appreciate the carefreeness of childhood.
The church would like you to believe that truth is a bad thing. They would rather have you believe the bible is a literal historical account rather than symbolic allegory.

Yours is a great question and one I am glad to answer so that any confusion is cleared up. Like the Cayce readings explain, and I believe, God has no gender and neither do we souls...unless we assume a physical form. So why use male pronouns when referring to God? Here's why doing so works for me...
First, I feel such a close connection with our Creator that using the non-gender specific terms works against that. I tried calling God things like Creative Spirit, Father/Mother/God, First Cause and any number of other terms. None of them fully expressed my preference of "family". I could just as easily use female pronouns in addressing God, but I defer to Jesus' consistent use of male pronouns (e.g. He, Him, etc.) as the better way as long as we understand that God has no gender.
My experience with "God" could only be described as the Divine Feminine. Glorious, effulgent beauty, sublime love, and ecstasy. If any gender is to be applied, it should be "She."
"God" or "Source" is everything that is feminine in nature. Gentle, compassionate, beautiful, etc. I feel that masculine qualities refer to the physical form. Feminine refers to the spirit.
Even primitive man as an agrarian society, worshipped the Divine Feminine. The women for their ability to give birth, for their beauty, their love. And for the Earth/Nature for its bounties. There was a great appreciation for the creation of life, from plants, animals, to each other (human beings).
It makes me wonder where we would be as a society if we placed emphasis in our conceptualization of "God" as being feminine in nature, so that we focused on the abundance of life, the beauty of it. Rather than worship the intellect and power that creates it.
Because as I learned from my experience with "God," there is no "power" involved, as that implies "force" is applied. Which is vulgar.
Instead, "God" creates through "Her" glory, i.e. the "power" of her beauty and love is so overwhelming that it manifests "Her" will. All things come into existence and OBEY because of "Her" glory.

The Edgar Cayce readings (ECRs) agree with the Bible in that all that existed before the beginning was God (pure Consciousness). Since there was no manifest universe until God said "Let there be light", that means there was no matter, or energy, and no physical forms at all up to that point. The ECRs also say that we were created in the image of God, which means that we too have always existed as pure consciousness...even before the beginning of manifestation.
With that background, it is understandable that the body's description at 5:30 in the video was that the body is NOT part of the soul. If the complete soul existed before the body was created, then that is logical. What Steve also said was that our body conforms to our soul, which makes it a mirror for who we really are, but no more a part of us than a mirror is of all it reflects.
