At 3:15 she locks the chair prior to the transfer. She "locks" it after....but you can tell it's already locked. Never have the patient put their hands on you.....I feel her position in front of the patient is proper, but should have had a gait belt.
NO NO NO! Do not use this method. The danger that the client and 'professional' are putting themselves in is unbelievable! The nurse should be by the side of the client at all times so they can be there if the client wobbles and should not be 'bear hugging' them.
This technique of patient transfer will work when the patient has leg strength and mobility. However, if the patient is old or disabled or does not have the strength or energy to get up and walk and support themselves while standing, such as after a stroke, then this technique might not work so well. Old age patient care is tricky and requires a lot of patience.
I had a hysterectomy a few years ago .?when the assistants came and transferred me to my room they made me roll myself off the stretcher into the bed . It hurt so bad to move an inch !
You don't want to try this with a Parkinson's patient or anyone else who will lose their balance easy. The low back feels the added pressure when all their weight is pulling against the shoulders.
Woah! That wheelchair moved like crazy when you sat her down in it, thats really dangerous, lock that damn thing. Other then that nice instructional video!
This really is a terrible example, poor body mechanics for one thing, no transfer belt, grabbing one leg at a time to get the patients legs over the side of the bed. I am going to college right now to be a care aid, this is wrong in many more ways. But that's enough for me.
Rock the patient?? 😮 Uh, NO Way!! THIS IS INCORRECT! The wheel chair isn't even locked during the transfer, AND she LOCKED IT before she left the patient! That is considered a RESTRAINT!
Lock the wheelchair before transfering the patient. When doing the transfer, use the counterweight method so that you don't injure your back. Also, when transfering, do not let go of the patient's knees; keep his knees in between yours' so that if ever he/she loses balance, you won't fall with the patient. This video was a fail.
I mean the wheelchair transfer is supper wrong that is so dangerous to both the patient and the nurse in the Uk found doing that and mostly in hospital asking for trouble is prohibited . Please don't move patience like that to a wheelchair dangerous hope they still don't use that form of transfer in the US is DANGEROUS hear me DANGEROUS .IS a NO.COM Nope DAnger
Why is the chair not locked in Position. Why did you only lock the chair after the transfer. Is this dangerous because the chair could move and cause a fall???
This video is pretty much a fail. The chair wasn't locked. The "nurse" didn't use a gait belt. The chair was too far away. What nursing school is this?
Use zimmer frame hoist and mostly get the second person to help transfer .Pressure on your back and all that !!!Gosh that's is so bad so bad shocked to my core !!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone is saying this is a bad video but I have to learn how to transfer a person with no transfer belt in case they have abdominal problems, so I'm not sure what to do because they won't tell us, they say just use evidence based practice...
This is a dangerous transfer.

chair was locked at 1:05... why are all the nursing students commenting that it wasnt??

Holistic Healthcare the wheelchair must be locked for any patient !
I was taught to make sure the bed was in the lowest position before attempting to transfer patient.

It is so important to know the proper way of to lift .Not only for the patient ,but the employee as well . Great re cape.
Is the position of wheelchair in transferring from bed to wheelchair always pointing to the foot of the bed? What about from wheelchair to bed?
Thanks for sharing this... It is how we learn and i have test about it after two weeks.. So i am so happy thanks for your video
I know, no transfer belt even. That is very unsafe for the patient and the care aid.

Omg, the chair was unlocked!

Bangla video korle valo hoy sob bujte subida hoy
Kolica nezakočena. Dosta udaljena od kreveta. Veoma rizičan tranfer.
Love
