Purple were partly Richie....but their sound with Richie was unique..the compositions were marvelous and the arangements topnotch... Richie was the driving force behind everything...Jon Lord said that....there is a video on RUclips... Richie is still a big influence in my music ......and he has a great sense of humour... Rainbow is my all time favorite band...no matter who were the members. They were all top.
Dio is the man. But Deep Purple is the Greatest Band of all time. I love Rainbow with Dio . Love Dio in Black Sabath and Dio by him self. One of the best singers of all time. But Purple to me is like a God. R I P Dio.

The Dio fronted Rainbow is better than anything Deep Purple did imo.
