14:24 thats a bad joint !!! more than 1mm gap there should be zero clearance with templates.... ppl making hand cut those without gaps.. lol ;) why you would use template that cannot make zero clearance ?
Hello, Thank you for your post, thats a good joint !!! This 2mm gap is desired for building constructions. It prevents chips or dirt during assembly from pressing the tenon outwards and creating a gap. Through the 2mm gap, the whole clamping force goes to the outer surface of the wood joint. Lignatool is a very flexible system, it can also be adjusted so that there is no gap, for example for visible wall construction or similar. For technical questions we are at your disposal.
I can hand-cut a mortise & tenon with a Japanese saw and a bench mortiser in less time. I don't fill my workshop with dust (you guys really need to buy an extractor), and my joints don't have a huge gap in them. Thanks - but I'll pass.
Jesus, what a pain in the ass. Don't get me wrong: the joint, which acts as both a dovetail and a bridal will definitely be strong, and will certainly hold together, but guys: A. What if I'm trying to use this on stick too small for your 24-inch jig to balance atop? B. What if my stick is ROUND. You're working with milled lumber there. C. What happens if I don't want to put a bunch of holes in my mating workpieces? Why this contrivance doesn't have a couple quick-release cammed clamps 90° to the guide path escapes me. And while it looks very well made, it's clearly intended to be used in a shop, not the field. Whereupon, you could leverage that to make a station tool similar to a Kreg pocket holer or similar. I dunno. Seems like a long walk for a small snack, for what amounts to two tapered templates and an (admittedly, seriously-burley) dovetail bit.
