  • Etihad Airways has announced plans to deploy its state-of-the-art Airbus A350 to Canada, with service commencing in Toronto in October. Next, Boeing's aircraft deliveries dropped in 2024 as the planemaker announced its half-year deliveries and fell further behind Airbus. Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines has announced plans to acquire a further 10 Airbus A321neo jets from AerCap on a lease to boost its fleet. Lastly, Etihad Airways has announced plans to make its flights to Boston daily using its 787 Dreamliner as it sees strong performance.

      Passenger comfort is the airline's prerogative. The manufacturer install whatever the airline picks from the catalog, including the seats at the requested pitch. I am one of those senior in life passenger, and I am able to compare what I had in the 1980's compared with 2020's.... the seats have lost all their upholstery, padding, all the stuff that made them comfortable for long or short rides. I am not even talking about the pitch. I remember the days when being at a window seat, I could walk to the aisle without disturbing anyone middle or aisle seated. These days are long gone, even if business class.
      I flew first class from Lagos to Frankfort in the 90's, and we had caviar before dinner.... now we have three crackers.... lol...

    It should be noted that, despite the issues at Boeing, Airbus still needs to deliver more aircraft than Boeing because they have a greater backlog.
    Nobody ever talks about that. Once Boeing resumes normal delivery schedules, they will have more resources to develop new aircraft, and will be able to secure more orders than Airbus. The 2020s may be better for Airbus, but the 2030s will be a different story.

    • @StopMediaFakery
      @StopMediaFakery Месяц назад +10

      I don't think that is correct. Boeing has big debts, they won't have the resources to compete with Airbus for the next generation of aircraft around mid 2030's. Airbus are selling out to around 2030 and then will be beyond and towards the next generation. They will have a lot of cash to develop the next generation. Airbus are likely to deliver more aircraft this year and have plans to increase production going forward. Boeing are likely going to have to give good deals to get sales going forward, so squeezed margins, and have to compensate many airlines for the delays. Ryanair want compensation for delays to aircraft this year for example, and they are already getting aircraft at a big discount. Boeing are in a mess, so will likely need a government handout.

    • @sainnt
      @sainnt Месяц назад +3

      @@StopMediaFakery You need to understand aviation a little bit better.
      First of all, Boeing is struggling with their commercial aviation sector, but still making a killing on the military/defense side, so they definitely have more money than you think.
      Second, Airbus hasn't wanted to invest in new aircraft after the A380 commercial failure. They've historically arrived late to the industry with new aircraft, and got really lucky with the A321 because Boeing underestimated the future of the 757. They're also lucky with the A350 because Boeing has struggled to get the 777-X certified and have had issues with the 787, otherwise Airbus' widebody aircraft would be in really bad shape, especially the A350-1000.
      Third, they will still be delivering their current backlog by the time Boeing introduces a new aircraft, so by the time Airbus follows, Boeing will be ahead on sales. That's what hurt Boeing with the A320 neo, and that's what hurt Airbus with the 787.

      @@sainnt The Military defense side they aren't making a killing, the KC-46 has had constant cost overruns, the only aircraft worth a damn is the Super Hornet and P-8, and that's because Lockheed haven't entered those sectors.

      @sainnt Месяц назад +1

      @@Dexter037S4 37% of Boeing's revenue last year was from their military sector. That's a lot of money.
      Cost overruns are not unusual when new aircraft are being developed. Boeing has suffered overruns with Air Force One and Airbus is suffering cost overruns with both the A321XLR and the A220.
