Wow Mr iceman ! you're really getting a hang of the 109 ! Thumbs up ! 👍 also in this campaign , You guys will be moving to another airfield that has a visible runway very soon :)
That's the beauty of static, or scripted campaigns. The mission designer can add all manner of objects to make more immersive environments. The dynamic campaigns, on the other hand, use a limited number of mission templates, with some randomization.
The canooy framing poses little problem if you make full use of the translation motion of your 6dof tracker. This means shifting side to side, leaning forward and back, and stretching up and scrunching down. In my own game I use a mod that permits a larger field of view. Instead of being limited to 90 degrees, I have it at 105 degrees. Additionally, I made a mod to increase the range permitted for the head tracker's panning range. I can now look straight back, or 180 degrees instead of the former 155 degrees. Looking up has been increased from 90 to 135 degrees (head tikted back an additional 45 degrees). Lookinh down has been increased from 60 to 75 degrees. And for many of my favourite planes I have increased the range of translational movement, where my virtual head can move about in a larger volume of the cockpit. All of this REALLY helps with situational awareness, making canopy obstructions practically of no more concern. It helps to get used to maneuvering while keeping your target in sight. This will keep from losing track of his position too often. And when you do look away to check ahead, make it as brief as possible. 😉
Thank you, I wish you good health for your 2025 too, and I hope you have a good Perihelion Day. I am from the UK, Thanet; I did not go out as such on New Years day for celebrations this time, as I mostly just focus on not letting myself get overloaded or stressed where possible in the holiday season, but for Christmas day I was invited to go and meet a few of my aunts and cousins on my mother's side (as they have a bit more traditional energy for such celebrations, a few still being church goers). One might expect to see in the UK, Christmas trees in the home, maybe some festive lights to decorate town or village streets and houses, a family might share a roast dinner; I was offered duck, potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, varieties of boiled vegetables, sauces, and a slice of chocolate yule log. Friends may share a wrapped present or two (I rarely accept or give gifts for this occasion myself), pull a Christmas Cracker, and generally to talk for a little while to catch up if they don't see or communicate with each other too often otherwise; one could even be talking to strangers about their year if choosing to go down to a pub. Good show.
Hey Shoenewt, you legend. I had to google what Periohelion day means. We say perihelium and afelium in Slovakia, very close, so was guessing that is has to do something with astronomy. Just reading all the food you mentioned, caused me to get hungry. Such delicate, like duck, pigs in blankets ... roast dinner. Christmas is usually time when people get on weight, right :D Thank you for sharing such lovely stories, wish you all the best in 2025, definitelly a great healt, less stress. Thank you for being here. Appreciate it.
The stock 109 cockpits (which you briefly went back to recently) do not have the issue of the Sun shining through. But these midded 'pits included with B.A.T. do havevthis problem because the creator made completely new textures which included an alpha channel for some parts which made use of transparency cutouts. That person perhaps was not aware of the requirement that textures intended to not alliw the Sun to be seen through them must not have an alpha channel.
If a tree on or near a runway is the same as those scattered around forests, it cannot hurt you because thosectrees do not have a collision box. Now, if such a tree is actually a "row of trees" object which you are making appear the same as the automatically generated trees via a conf.ini setting, then such a tree will have a collision box and thus must be avoided. Such trees often appear as two or three close together, for the 'parent' "row of trees" object has sone size via creating 5 individual trees arranged in a staggered line. But this last case is unlikely to be found on or near a runway/taxiway, unless the mission maker is deliberately putting it there. And so most likely it's just an auto generated tree that poses no threat to you.
