Still separated from their crew, our party narrowly escaped the final room of Toad Temple, rescuing Coinpurrs from the clutches of the Swarm of Deadpoles and the singing mud demon from Room Three.
Because our misfits did not attack the Mer-Ribbets in the second chamber of Toad Temple, once flushed from the final battle room of the ruins, those beautiful but deadly creatures provided breathable air via underwater mouth-to-mouth. “The Kiss of the Mer-Ribbet” also granted each recipient an epic boon: doubling everyone’s swim speed and max. time holding breath underwater. But as every rose has its thorns, our heroes did contract Merpes in the process, should they have bucked statistics and not been in the 75% of pirates who already have it. No one is here to judge!
Shortly after their flush with destiny, during a brief confrontation with a gang of unruly Eldritch Eels, the group witnessed one of the escaped Deadpoles attack and possess the Eels, transforming it into a horrific, twisted version of its former self.
After what would have been an arduous swim, should they not have had their newfound Mer-Ribbet blessing, Grit, Zabji, Turtell, and Todd reach a small secluded beach carved out of sheer cliffs. The boys make camp and complete their first long rest since our story began.
As day breaks, our story continues…
Wayward Knaves is a pirate homebrew TTRPG campaign using two systems: Pirate Borg for naval combat and Daggerheart for everything else! I'm using Midjourney for the much of the artwork as well as purchased 5e/Pirate Borg materials. + chatGPT to help me paraphrase existing Daggerheart stat blocks for Pirate Borg and homebrew monsters.
