FilmClub Movie Review - Pariah

Dee Rees had a stunning debut with her 2011 coming-of-age tale of coming out, Pariah. Based on her 2007 short film of the same title, Rees highlights the lesbian experience through the eyes of Alike, a butch 17 year old with a gift for poetry and a love for girls.
It's a great film and an impressive debut feature in the same tradition as some of the best John Hughes films.
