After their performance i thought: Wow, this can get very very high. and in the end: little frustration. still wonder why. loved this entry. was a huge success in germany, no.1 on the charts.
Texas Lightning was a genuine country band from Germany with their repertoire concentrating on the Blue Grass style. Lead singer Jane Comerford is actually Australian born.
Bluegrass, yes! I don’t know why Bluegrass slipped my mind while reacting haha, but the banjo gives it away 😂. It’s great to know that they do country outside of Eurovision too, I’ll have to look up some of their other music.
That was a very nice reaction to a great song, but I had the impression that you thought the musicians were not playing life, but on playback. At the Eurovision Song Contest, they are not allowed to play recorded music, or use playback, it's all live music. :)
It's not only about the wonderful singer and songwriter Jane Comerford. The drummer is Olli Dittrich a famous german comedian and the guitar guy is Jon Fleming Olsen, Olli's sidekick in a perfect German comedy show ❤️ Fun fact: I don't know if this is true but I heard Texas lightning became 'honorable inhabitants of Texas' after the performance 😁
A little history lesson: Country music was popularised in the 1920's with the emergence of radio and recording technology. It's origin goes back 300 years to the first settlers (from Europe) bringing their folk traditions with them. The trade triangle of Europe to Africa to America and back to Europe allowed the movement of people with different cultural heritage to come into contact and exchange musical traditions. This lead to North America developing its own unique style, a mix of African, European and Mediteranean musicality and intruments. Hence country music is an evolution of a cultural and regional confluence across the United States giving us Cajun, Bluegrass, Blues and Gospel which in turn evolved into the Rock 'n' Roll and Rythm and Blues we know today.
Haha yes! I’m actually relatively familiar with the historical development of country music! Particularly it’s roots in both African- and European-American musical traditions.
She is born in Down Under! It's the other way round, she has an english accent when she speaks German tho. But she speaks very good and confident German.

27x 0 point vote is a joke.

Singer Jane Comerford wrote this song, after she was informed her brother in law had died, as an encouragement for her niece.
My favourite entry EVER!!! Thank you!
Of course!!
Thank you so much for your reaction to that. I've always longed to see an American (a country fan or not) just check this out!
Of course!! It was fun to watch something so different from all the other entries this year.

I’d love if that was true 😂
@@JordanDavisEurovision I just found out: It IS 🇩🇪❤️🇺🇸
it is true. The state of Texas gave them honorable citizenship.
At the point of recording the drummer was a top 3 comedian in germany.
