So true. Anything that has under 30% sugar won't taste good after you're used to eating only things with loads of added sugar.

It's kinda interesting that she has lived in Finland almost 20 years and she also tells that salmiakki is her favorite candy, but she still don't know how to pronounce it right. America seems to be strange place, live there for couple of months and you have forgotten your native language :)
And ye, it is a small world....when I was visiting my gf in US this last summer we went into this surfing shop and one of the guys who worked there had just been visiting his gf in Finland the other week xD
Salmiakki is the best!!! Licorice filled chocolate, the licorice itself of course...the Koskenkorva Salmiakki vodka! And nothing can beat Salmiakki ice cream bars!!! Oh, and Karelia pies! :-D
Just a few north european countries like this "candy". In Holland we call it drop. I dont think we can live without it.

I'm Canadian but I love salmiakki thanks to a Finnish friend who introduced it to me. I can find it here sometimes but it is usually old and hard as a rock.

Peanut butter is one of the most delicious food products ever discovered. If it weren't so calorie-rich I'd eat it directly from the jar with a spoon. Why people in Europe don't like peanut butter is a complete mystery to me and pretty much the rest of the world. Get some. Eat some. Fall in love.

Tried it many times but it's still gross. It's so damn sticky and the taste is just...weird. But hey, i don't judge, people like weird stuff. Somewhere in the world they eat bugs and in sweden they have surströmming...

Salmiak/salt lakrits is my favourite candy! But then again I'm swedish so I've grown up with eating it haha. I hate sweet liquorice though!

+cfz I'm from Czech Republic and I was in Finland in 2014. When I saw Salmiakki I was like: Omg, I love liquorice! But I found out that I don't like Salmiakki :D Chocolate is amazing, but itself no :( :D

When I first met my husband (Fin) he brought Salmiakki to the USA with him for me to taste. I tried it for about 2 seconds then offered it to my dog (who licks his own butt) and he goobbled it up and then spit it out in about 2 seconds

Hmmm... if there were a pajatso machine that paid out in Finnish candy, how addictive would that be?
Why cheer for Finland in sports? Cause then I'll hear Estonian anthem (of course only when Estonians are not participating). Also in Formula1 there is usually Finnish people who recognize Estonian flag (not thinking I'm Ford fan) and they usually have Koskenkorva and Mehukatti with them. Always willing to share that too ... which might not be good thing but the thought what counts ... right?
Love Finland and Finnish but I think Finnish liquorish should be illegal. No hard feelings :)
PS! I can say to every Finnish traveler something in Finnish that makes them laugh and that is usually good start for everything (that was just for you Sara do not tell others).
