So I randomly thought about this. I never sang however I did okay in band from ,4th grade all the way through 5 years of college. Because of this I've listened to a lot of brass ensembles and symphonic bands in my day. The speed of your version of Rocky Road to Dublin (RRTD) eminds me of a song called Galeforce by Peter Graham. The A section is RRTD There is a recording of this song with the title being "Peter Graham - Galeforce (EBBC 2001) I've clocked the bpm anywhere between 195-200 bpm for this recording. Couldn't imagine trying to play this in Euphonium lol. Long story short is....your version of RRTD goes fast and it reminds me of an obscure brass ensemble piece from many years ago lol.
this is my favourite song, few years ago I worked as a waiter and I sang this song to some Englishman, now Englishmen sang it back to me , loved it boys, keep it going
i love how the song calls out gallaway boys as coming to aid in the fight. like these rando scottish blokes in liverpool saw a fight and just fucking went in with the one losing.
So gooood!!! Many thanks, I've wanted this to happen for quite some time. Love the coordinated clothing with the shirts and dark trousers. It would be so great to be out walking and suddenly see and hear this coming towards me. But for now I'll have to do the singing myself.. Not as much fun :( When I first heard this song, I thought the difficult thing would be the lyrics and singing fast. But when I actually learned to sing it, I discovered that the biggest issue is breathing. So singing super fast is the only way I can make the air in my lungs last until there's time to take a new breath.
What a fitting song start to hear as I am preparing to leave my hometown and drive 3k Km away from my home. I’ve not even left yet and I’m already homesick.
Idk why but whenever I hear a good version of this song I feel oddly motivated, speaking of which I just finished about a weeks worth of college work in the past few hours lmao
Great cover. And yes, I have indeed been enjoying C-sides. I think enjoyed "Fish in the Sea" and "Drop of Nelson's Blood" the most, though this one isn't bad at all.
I know that probably I'm not supposed to say this... But even after a few videos and clips, and songs... It's hard to see this godsend of a band down one man.
Having a real crummy day, almost skipped the release of this one, but I knew if I made it, you’d improve my mood, and I was right of course, you always do. Thanks lads, hope you have an adequate break, you deserve it
The annoying thing about my training as bass singer is that despite not singing myself when listening to this, I find myself breathing in sync with you guys. The deliveries excellent, gentlemen.
I've been listening to this album on Spotify for the majority of the time since release. Every day I've seen the album name at least twice... IT JUST NOW dawned on me the name is a pun (seaside).
I absolutely love this! You guys always manage to add your special vocal spin to everything. It’d be really cool to hear this with some instrumental backing as well
@@LiamSmall12 I don’t think they had a falling out or anything with hard feelings like that-if they did, they’ve kept it private. It seems he just wanted to go solo, so they parted ways.
Where is all that air COMING from?! (To sing all those words at that tempo.) Do you all have an extra pair of lungs hidden away??? lol. In all seriousness, excellent control, well done!
Sorry, say that again?

Danced some hearty jigs the water round me bubbling
Off to Holyhead wished meself was dead
Or better far instea-head on the rocky road to Dublin one two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road and all the ways to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
The boys of Liverpool and when we safely landed
Called meself a fool I could no longer stand it
Blood began to boil, temper I was losing
Poor old Erin's isle-highl they began abusing "Hurrah me soul!" says I-shillelagh I let fly
Some Galway boys were by and saw I was a hobble-in
With a loud "Hurray!" joined the neigh affray
We quick-elly cleared the way-hay for the rocky road to Dublin one two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin,
Whack fol lol le rahhh-hunt! the Hare and turn her down the rocky road and all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
I like this shot 0:59. Great dirt road for something like DnD
Just sped it up to 1.5 speed. Worth it.
The A section is RRTD There is a recording of this song with the title being "Peter Graham - Galeforce (EBBC 2001)
I've clocked the bpm anywhere between 195-200 bpm for this recording. Couldn't imagine trying to play this in Euphonium lol.
Long story short is....your version of RRTD goes fast and it reminds me of an obscure brass ensemble piece from many years ago lol.
I wanna let you know boys, I’ve listened to it 47 times now and have fully remembered it as me and my friends are gonna be singing this for a RUclips
Finally. I have no doubts this cover will be a banger.
This is the sole reason why I'm going to Dublin this autumn
this is my favourite song, few years ago I worked as a waiter and I sang this song to some Englishman, now Englishmen sang it back to me , loved it boys, keep it going
I love how what you call a C-side is better than most people's A
Weird thing,
Not being critical of any other version,
But this is probably the best enunciation of the lyrics to this song I have ever heard.
The problem for me with Longest Johns interpretations of songs is: their version is so good, I automatically compare other performances to them.
Yes I do that all the time
i love how the song calls out gallaway boys as coming to aid in the fight.
like these rando scottish blokes in liverpool saw a fight and just fucking went in with the one losing.
Galway is, uh, irish
Hell yeah. You dont know how long ive been waiting for this
Diggy Diggy hole?
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SONG AND FINALLY MY FAVOURITE BAN HAD DONE IT
was just listening to this song on the way to work earlier today. Can’t wait for the video to come out
I'm just so amazed that you can remember all the lyrics on this jig!
I love the way they say Dublin, three syllables. I’m used to the Dubliners version but this is good too.
An example of the subs, at this time, at 0:40 "a Victoria star was a jar to bubble in"
What a fun song! Reminds me a bit of the Scottish song “Cam Ye O’er Frae France” - I’d love to hear you guys sing that one.
i love this
i have a question though, can we get "it's a long, long way to Tipperary" ?
GREAT now i gotta go play skyrim again so i can listen to this while i run on the roads and NO OTHER REASON
So... you walked to Dublin all the way from England?
So gooood!!! Many thanks, I've wanted this to happen for quite some time. Love the coordinated clothing with the shirts and dark trousers.
It would be so great to be out walking and suddenly see and hear this coming towards me. But for now I'll have to do the singing myself.. Not as much fun :(
When I first heard this song, I thought the difficult thing would be the lyrics and singing fast. But when I actually learned to sing it, I discovered that the biggest issue is breathing. So singing super fast is the only way I can make the air in my lungs last until there's time to take a new breath.
Oh yay! This is one of my favorite songs, and you're one of my favorite bands. Fuck yeah this was awesome!
The Longest Johns in TIGHT unison is something I never knew I needed
I was there when you played in Ireland and sang this! It was such a good show, really happy to see this uploaded.
This song was what got me started listening to folk music 12 years ago... ah, how the time flies! Love your rendition!
What a fitting song start to hear as I am preparing to leave my hometown and drive 3k Km away from my home. I’ve not even left yet and I’m already homesick.
No instruments, no dancing girls, just three lads and a dirt road never missing a single beat
I've never vibed so hard on my first time hearing a shanty
These gents are well prepared for any shiny demons they might encounter on this road.
Excellent work!
Be you angels?
Idk why but whenever I hear a good version of this song I feel oddly motivated, speaking of which I just finished about a weeks worth of college work in the past few hours lmao
Great cover. And yes, I have indeed been enjoying C-sides. I think enjoyed "Fish in the Sea" and "Drop of Nelson's Blood" the most, though this one isn't bad at all.
The thumbnail reminds me of Lord of the Rings for some reason! I love hiking though!
I know that probably I'm not supposed to say this... But even after a few videos and clips, and songs... It's hard to see this godsend of a band down one man.
Having a real crummy day, almost skipped the release of this one, but I knew if I made it, you’d improve my mood, and I was right of course, you always do. Thanks lads, hope you have an adequate break, you deserve it
This one is worth a few stomps
Its so perfectly adequate. Love it
One of my favourite songs from one my favourite bands. Can’t wait!
A fun bit of brass band trivia related to this - there is a piece called Gaelforce that follows this exact tune! Worlds colliding in music is so cool!
The annoying thing about my training as bass singer is that despite not singing myself when listening to this, I find myself breathing in sync with you guys.
The deliveries excellent, gentlemen.
This is made even more impressive when you realize they did this acapella
I've been listening to this album on Spotify for the majority of the time since release. Every day I've seen the album name at least twice... IT JUST NOW dawned on me the name is a pun (seaside).
Sam's sense of humour I believe😅😂
and now I am waiting for 2 things :D : 1. This song to be usable in Instagram stories 2. Community project to be out! :D
Aliens: what are they saying
Humans: no clue mate
The speed was exactly what this song needed, but it also needed a band for background music.
Great speed run boys.
I started watching this with the subs, you know when you are scrolling through videos, and they were hilarious. It gave up halfway through. 😂
I absolutely love this! You guys always manage to add your special vocal spin to everything. It’d be really cool to hear this with some instrumental backing as well
I don't understand shit, but it's beautiful
It’s so weird seeing only three Longest Johns.
What happened to the 4th guy?
@@LiamSmall12 He left the band.
@georgeofhamilton Was there a falling out or something, or did? He did just not want to continue with a band?
@@LiamSmall12 I don’t think they had a falling out or anything with hard feelings like that-if they did, they’ve kept it private. It seems he just wanted to go solo, so they parted ways.
@@georgeofhamilton Ok, thanks
This is the first song we heard you sing …fantastic. Looking forward to seeing you in Sheffield soon 👍
Great cover and amazing breath control!
For some reason I'd never realised how tall Andy was compared to the others
If I ever get in a fight in an Irish pub, this is the song that will be in me head. 😂
Cheers 🍻
Love the landscape here, and incredibly impressed that you didn't finish this actively wheezing.
The bit I love the most is the really quiet bit at the end where you can hear the birds chirping 🐦🐦 😉
( Kidding, of course )!
Loved hearing this one at your gig in Dublin! Not many bands match the speed of the original
Where is all that air COMING from?! (To sing all those words at that tempo.) Do you all have an extra pair of lungs hidden away??? lol. In all seriousness, excellent control, well done!
damn, i had to pause it every 20 second to give you oportunity to breathe in :D - amazing adaptation of this great song
Now that is a jogging pace! Love it. Maybe have listened to it around 30 times already XD
Jesus Christ my lads. You sure can do that fast!
