  • Change your thermal paste on your Iceriver Kaspa ASIC! Works for KS0 KS0 Pro KS1 KS2 KS3L KS3M KS3 ! In todays video I show you how to remove the old worn out thermal paste from your Iceriver Kaspa ASIC and replace it with fresh high quality thermal paste! My KS3M gets much higher hashrate in colder temps, that tells me thermal throttling might be an issue! Time to change the thermal paste. I show you how on an Iceriver KS2, but the process is the same for the Iceriver KS1 KS2 KS3L KS3M KS3

      @Bcmurphy87 I used 1.5 syringes for the KS2. So about 3 grams per hashboard

    I absolutely recommend thermal paste, I tested and %100 works. Original thermal paste tested 3 hours and average 5.8 th then I paste N6 then now reaching even 8 th , but stable around 6.6 to 7 th. So, absolutely love it.

    Great video. I don't have the bigboy tools yet. Do you recommend to change the paste on KS0's?

    • @GreaterGoodMining
      @GreaterGoodMining  6 месяцев назад

      If you are having issues with thermal throttling I believe the KS0's use thermal pads. IIRC 1.5mm. And thermal paste. I havn't had to replace my thermal pads or paste yet on my KS0's because I habnt really had a problem. But at some point they will require maintenance just like anything

    on the heat sink screws, are you tightening until they are "hand tight" as they resist, or just until they click with tension of the springs (which would be about half way)?

    • @GreaterGoodMining
      @GreaterGoodMining  6 месяцев назад

      Hand tight as soon as you feel resistance. You can't tighten it much more. It will be pretty obvious once you try it

    • @JProfit-ef7ur
      @JProfit-ef7ur 6 месяцев назад +1

      thanks. I've found that it's about 9 full turns of the screwdriver once you get the screw to grab. I once tightened with and electric driver, all that did was splat all the thermal paste out. I also have started alternating the screw tightening 3 turns a at time across the heat sink like tightening lugs on a car wheel. Just to get the tension even, plus, it helps you sneak up on "just hand tight"@@GreaterGoodMining

    • @GreaterGoodMining
      @GreaterGoodMining  6 месяцев назад

      @JProfit-ef7ur yeah I tried to do the same where I tightened in a star pattern like you. I didn't go row by row.

    • @glennpattison4678
      @glennpattison4678 5 месяцев назад +1

      When I did mine I think they tightened too much because there was no paste and paste was squished out, almost metal on metal, I tightened slowly just till I felt a little resistance. temps are 64 to 87 now - I had 30 - yellow and 3 -105's before. Thanks again!@@GreaterGoodMining

    I"ve had my last 3 miners delivered already thermal throttling and the last one also had a bad PSU, all out of the box that way. Pretty sure they are mining with our miners before sending them to us, plus, I'm not sure they are manufacturing them to the same standards as before. Not sure what everyone else is experiencing or if I just got the bad ones of the lot ...

    • @GreaterGoodMining

      There is no device that is built into the Icerivers that can measure chip temps. This will not help with intake or exhaust temps. It will help with heat transfer from the chips to the heat sinks which can't be measured
