my ICF 2010 originally from my Dad (recording SW Broadcasts from Christian Science, Boston Massachusetts) is part of the "ICF 2010 SYSTEM" with external Antenna and a bunch of Extras). Still working fine.
Good job restoring this radio, you were resourceful making the other speaker work inside. I just bought an ICF 2010 last night on eBay. I hope you got some decent coin for it.
Somebody consistently treated this badly...nicks and discolouration all over. Strange since this a top of the line “portable” with a great history and good reputation. The replacement speaker IS as good as the original. Speaker was never an issue with this model...very strange. The 4.5V adapter IS the original. Thanks! There aren’t many videos involving my favourite radio.
This radio has been a workhorse since the 90s for me. It’s developed a little problem with the volume control; cuts in and out and restored with a little wiggle or a lift with a fingernail. I still use it nearly every day for fm and me dx. I sure wish SW will come back. I hate the internet controlling snd monitoring everything I choose to listen to. I’m actually looking seriously at purchasing a Texan 680 or 880 replacement.
@@luvradios Hi. I enjoy your posts and have added you to my subscriptions. Do you have any suspicions about the cause of my IFC-2010 volume slider problems. It cuts in snd out when sliding. A little wiggle or lift restores volume and as long as I don’t couch it it’s fine. I suspect either 20 years worth the dust seeping in or possibly a worn contact with years of sliding. It’s never been abused. Only problem has been a need for a new light bulb. 🥸Thanks if you have the time to answer. Write me at balony42@gmail.com
Thanks for the video. I need help with the inside back of this radio. Not sure if the antenna is working. Can't figure out how it's connected. A pic of the inside rear showing the antenna would be greatly appreciated. Also, I thought there were a couple wires connecting the back cover to the front. If there are, I would appreciate a pic of that also. Thank you so much!
THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THIS TYPE OF RADIOS IS THE HIGH SENSIBILITY OF RF AREA, AND THE GOOD RECEPTION OF SHORT WAVE SIGNAL,FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY. NOT IS THE MORE IMPORTANT AM/FM, BECAUSE THESE 2 BANDS YOU CAN LISTEN IN ANY RADIO OF AM AND FM BANDS.
Nicely done. I’m looking for info regarding a volume control on same model I own that cuts in and out. A little wiggle of the slider restores connection. Any suggestions out there? Is there a set of schematics on line? I bought this radio new and have used it since the 90s.
John, thanks for checking out the video! The OEM antenna hasn’t been available for decades, if you wanted the exact one you would have to find another radio of that or a similar model and take the antenna from it. But you should be able to find a substitute that will fit nicely.

Those are sweet radios 100%!

Bill, Thanks for checking out the video! I think I got like $125 for that radio, not bad for a $10 investment.

Paul , thanks for watching! It was easy to see that this radio was a quality receiver, amazing tone and sensitivity on AM band.
Sony 2010 is the best portable shortwave radio from Sony. Was expensive new and still has a good value in good condition.
PHC , thanks for watching the video! That old Sony was a cool radio to get going again but definitely a PSA about removing old batteries lol.

I do know you have to have the AA's in there before it will come on.
