You are easily able to get Pakistani visa because you are traveling on American passport. You could have easily availed eVisa If you were entering by airport. I know this as I have enteted Pakistan on my American passport myself with eVisa. On flipside, my friends working in US who are Indian were rejected even after providing sponsor letter and all that. For Indians, it is extremely difficult to get visa as there is no tourist/visitor visa. Even if they some sponsor in Pakistan, they would be granted visa only for certain cities. And they have to report to police station everytime they enter and exit a city.
same goes for Pakistanis who apply for Indian Visa. Even India doesn't grant visa to the Nationals of other countries whose birth origin is Pakistan. they also given visa for only couple of cities and whenever they need to move from one city to other, need to report at the relevant police station. It takes two hands to clap
