The first purchase I made for my son (now 13) was The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd Jones. It's pretty good but repetitive. My favorite now is Children of God Storybook Bible by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It is multiethnic and features a great variety of illustrators.
Yes, there is a lot of content in those that I would not expose to a young reader without preparing for lots of questions about sexual preferences and what not. Seems like a whole can of worms to open and explain.
Loved this video. Ok you sold me on Funny Story. That Fredrik Backman wasn’t my favourite of his either, but I have loved other books by him. Love that your outfit is flower themed too. Finn is such a sweetheart! He’s a booktuber in the making. 💙💙 Happy first Mothers Day to you. 💐 I loved the Dutch House. It definitely grows on you and it’s one I kept thinking about after I finished. 😊
Thank you for the sweet words, Jolene! Finn is definitely a social butterfly, so I wouldn't be surprised, ha! 💕 The Dutch House has remained on my mind after finishing it -- a sign of a great book.
We have that one! If I’m honest, I didn’t love reading it because it took so long. But I’m sure one day he’ll be picking it out for himself and I’ll have no choice 😂
@@GloriaZThompson I realized that ours was actually called Where Do Diggers Sleep at Night? and was a board book. It seems to similar, so maybe related. Anyway, he loved that one!
Wow this post has everything! So fun. I loved how your son was so interested in the books and the cat. And those picture books are beautiful. Even though my kids are grown and no grandkids yet, you made me remember how much I love picture books so I’ve been checking some out from my library. Thanks for the recommendations.
Looks like you had a very special 1st Mother's Day!!! Hey, have you ever done a LFL tour of your library?? My 3 girls are getting me a kit for MDay. Hoping my grandsons will help their Papa assemble, paint etc. Going with a medal roof to match our house, getting ours done soon if it ever stops raining in MI and hoping for a couple leftover scraps to use :)❤ always fun to see what others do!!
I think I showed it off briefly in a historical fiction vlog I did back in September before Finn was born. I made it with my dad out of old beehives! It was such a fun project to do together. Love that you are getting your own!
Pajama Time was my oldest daughter’s favorite book and Goodnight Moon was my youngest daughter’s book. They are 23 and 15 now and I kept them for grandkids.
Our library set up a display for May with books with flowers on the cover. I really liked The Measure and the Bridgerton series. The 2nd book was my favorite. I did give Ready or Not 3 stars even though you knew how it was going to end... Fin is a cutie pie .....take care
Hi Gloria I just love this Vlog - Your little baby boy is so adorable. Sounds like you had a great time with doing what you wanted to do. Good for you. I love your Flowery T Shirt. It is so pretty. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🙏🔰📖📚🌸🌼🌺💐🍕❤️
The Jesus Story Book bible is the one our church gives out for child dedications. We also really like The Beginner's Bible as the first one since the stories are shorter (like their attention spans). I did not like the ending of The Dutch House! So glad you had a great Mother's Day! Finn is too cute!!
Gloria, I saw Finn on the thumbnail and almost broke my screen clicking on your video. Finn is absolutely perfect. What a beautiful boy. I love how you have set routines with Finn and that your husband has his own special part in the night routine. How wonderful for that precious baby boy! Books…not nearly as interesting as Finn 😂! Thank you for your reviews. Beastiality? Ick..ick..ick! If you made a video of reading the Russian alphabet book to Finn, I’d love to hear it. You roll your letters so beautifully. I can see why Finn loves this one. I have never been able to make such sounds and I love hearing your lovely voice. The Measure. I think you called it a sci fi or fantasy? I love both genres, but this story read like a modern day earth story with the addition of the dastardly boxes. I read it in January and, so far, it is my favorite book of the year. I hope you love it too. It certainly makes one think about so many things. Hugs to all of you. ❤
Thank you for watching and the kindest words! ❤️ I’ll try and share the Russian book sometime in a future video. I’ve read the Measure since this video and did enjoy it overall. It’s true, made me think a lot!
I laughed so hard at your review of ‘Ready or Not’😂 I have a recommendation, if you haven’t read it yet. An Old Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott. I just finished it and it’s so wholesome, I loved it!
I dislike books with weak characters and those who make all sorts of stupid decisions, too. Lol I think that’s why I disliked The Winemaker’s Wife so much. Finn is adorable!
Good to know! I've been debating on removing that book from my shelves because I heard someone else mention that it included infidelity and dumb decisions. Not for me!
I also always love when you share children's books, Finn has some great favs!!
Thank you! Can’t wait till he’s picking his own out.
Finn is the cutest!

Wonderful, thank you for the recommendation!
Wow! Thanks for the warning about The Dragon books. Those had been on my radar for a while. Glad to know I can now remove them from my TBR.

Aw, I love this Gloria!:)
Finn is such a cutie!
Thank you so much for sharing Finn with us!! He is absolutely precious!!! ❤
Thank you for watching! 💕

Hi Gloria! Loved seeing Finn! My Grandson loves "Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site" Its a cute little series about construction vehicles.....
I second that! My son loved that one when he was little! He could “read” it from memory when he was so little. 🥹
We have that one! If I’m honest, I didn’t love reading it because it took so long. But I’m sure one day he’ll be picking it out for himself and I’ll have no choice 😂

This is such a sweet vlog!! 🥰 We were gifted A Jesus Storybook Bible years ago and it is beautiful!
Thank you! That seems to be the crowd favorite, so I’ll have to get my hands on one.
My son loved Busy Town by Richard Scarry. I admit I loved it too! lol
I’ll have to check that one out from the library.
Thank you. Loved this Vlog. Finn and those flowers are Beautiful.
Thanks for watching, Mary! 💕
Happy first Mother's Day, Gloria!
Thank you so much! 🩷

The Rhyme Bible is fabulous! So engaging for young kiddos. It is my Bible of choice in my preschool classroom.
Oh yay! Glad I found it then (:
Your baby is so adorable 😍😍
I hope you all liva a long and happy life. Love from Egypt 🇪🇬❤️
The Jesus Storybook Bible has been our favorite and we still use it with our five year old
That is the recommended favorite, so I will have to track one down!
Pajama Time was my oldest daughter’s favorite book and Goodnight Moon was my youngest daughter’s book. They are 23 and 15 now and I kept them for grandkids.
Oh, I love that!! I will definitely try to keep a bin of things for my son when he's older.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts on those reads! 💕
What an interesting post! Loved every minute!
Thanks so much for watching!

❤️🤗🙏🔰📖📚🌸🌼🌺💐🍕❤️
Thank you so much for watching Linda and your sweet words! 💕
LOVED this vlog!!!
Thank you! ❤️
Such a fun vlog! Thanks for sharing. Our favorite Sandra Boynton books are ‘Pajama Time’ and ‘The Going to Bed Book’.
Thank you for watching! We have both of those and he loves em.
You have given me hope for Funny Story because I also HATED Happy Place!
I’m glad, hope you enjoy it! Emily Henry redeemed herself.
The Russian alphabet book looks beautiful! ♥️ This was fun, Gloria! Your son is so sweet. 🥹

Thank you for the recommendation! Hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day yourself Lindsay!💕
Backman is not for me either. I don’t understand why everyone loves him so much. 🤷🏻♀️
I’m still weirdly interested in Bridgerton. 😂
Love that tote!!
I don’t get it either! Glad I’m not the only one. You might like Bridgerton, everyone else seems to! Don’t let my thoughts sway you.
Sally Lloyd Jones ❤ The Jesus Storybook Bible❤
Thank you for the rec!

What area of Oregon are you in? I'm like 30 minutes from Salem. The pollen is killing me.
I'm near Clackamas. Oh my goodness me too. Allergies are rough this year.
I laughed so hard at your review of ‘Ready or Not’😂
I have a recommendation, if you haven’t read it yet. An Old Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott. I just finished it and it’s so wholesome, I loved it!
I have not, adding that to my list! Thank you! 🩷
Did your friend not notice that “break” should be “brake” on the tote?
I didn't notice that either! Oh man, still a cute tote, and even B&N stocked it.
Could you use vegan cheese and make your own pizza? My husband can not live without pizza every week😂🍕. I must have raisins daily☀️🍇
I've not found a vegan cheese that I like, and one that melts well. To me, pizza has to have real cheese. 🙈
Not for me!
I know you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover but I really don't like the new romance book covers. They just don't appeal to me.
For me, neither the cover nor the content. Lol.
I don’t care for them much either if I’m honest. I never thought I’d read any of them, but here we are. 🙃
