My dad is from Grenada up in maran near to Victoria, and he used to make the same style huge kites for us using brown paper and wood when we were kids right here in the uk. Everyone in the neighbourhood used to come out and watch us flying them.Watching this just reminded me of forgotten memories even took me back near on 40 years! It reminded of how powerful they were because they used to roar and lift us off the ground. Rip dad .I miss u.x
@Just as I am Wow, that’s amazing that he left Grenada but took the culture with him!! They no longer use paper, the covering has ‘evolved’ to plastic. Happy to bring back good memories of your dad.
Same here, on the island of Bermuda, back in the late 60s, there would be uncountable numbers of every size and shape of kites.....Super fun memories, my dad and all the neighbors would build their own kites....
Man I miss those days growing up same kites but way smaller 🇭🇹. It's amazing how we grew up in different islands yet having very similar traditions. I need to see a video of the hose and wire hanger lollll
We definitely have similar traditions because our fore parents came from the same places, and then we were colonized by the same ‘super powers’ of the day.
I remember kites like these more than 70 years ago. Most of the shapes were exactly the same, but our kites were tiny versions of what these guys are making. These guys are putting together monsters; we could not even dream of doing what these guys are doing. Very, very impressive!
We made kits like that in Jamaica when I was a kid. much smaller in size and easy to manage. We had kite fights, and added razor blades to the kite to cut the other kite strings.
Do a video of moving heavy stuff around with one of your kites. I have theorized for years that it was the only means available to the Egyptians at the time that was strong enough to move huge stones. It’s gonna take professionals like y’all to accomplish such a Herculean feat but yall certainly have the expertise. I suggest using easy numbers for calculation purposes. Maybe use like a 1 square meter kite and a 10 kg stone and see how many meter wind it takes to move the stone so people can do the math for themselves. It’s a hell of theory and you guys are welcome to proving it possible. I think yall will get so many responses that you won’t be able to answer them all
