That mountain in winter suit was my first significant sight in Iceland when I visited there for the first time in February 2022! I remember my first stroll through the city towards the sea and the naive thought of walking to the Esja mountain. 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣 And realising that it is further than I thought, when I reached the sea. 😂😂
Kjalarnes looks like a very pleasant place to live. Wish it might figure a way to sustain itself....Would Northern Lights appear there much? Looks so interesting from all directions. Thanks for sharing!
Iceland is a very beautiful country with very beautiful and strong people! Much respect and all the best from a fan of Iceland from Romania! Tusen takk for denne videoen! P.S.: I also known some Norwegian (Bokmål). Also, Kjalarnes sound very Gaelic/Celtic and this should come as no surprise since many Icelanders have Celtic/Gaelic roots from both Scotland and Ireland since the Viking Age. Many blessings to the Icelandic people!
What a lovely village! Some of the yards are so well planted and kept. Who wouldn't love to have a home there? (A lot of people, I suppose). I'm a country girl, so Kjalarnes looks a lot more appealing to me than Reykjavik. :D
I think it is very weird that people don't want to live in Kjalarnes. I agree with you, Gylfi, that it is an ideal spot near the capital city! I'm not a city girl, either, but the city offers many more opportunities, so Kjalarnes would also be a nice place for me. Anyway, a very informative video again! Through your videos I've found out so much about my beloved country! You're doing a precious work!! ❤ Greetings from Latvia! 🇱🇻❤🇮🇸
Very informative and intersting, thank you. Please update your census at the beginning of the video. Capital region population will pass 250,000 in the coming days. ☺️
Typical of the government, all promises then they renig on them. How is that showing the newer generation’s responsibility? Keeping your word and promises? Beautiful scenery which is a much better thing to see. Please take care and thank you for sharing your beautiful country 👍🙏❤️
Gylfi, I noticed some flat roofs on some buildings. Do they have problems with snow load? Wondering how strong the roofs are and if they can support a heavy snow load.......??
Thanks for your brutally honest report. I just don't understand one thing: what is the reason Reykjavik broke their promises and refuses to expand to the (even more secure) north?
They don't want us to have cars :) and want to jam pack us all into as little space as possible so we dont have to drive, but as a result, thousands of cars are polluting the city while stuck in traffic all days :) you can't make this sht. up :)
@@JustIcelandic They can't build a Light Rail, like Israel did? Even New York built trains decades ago to transport people from the suburbs into the city. Does it cost too much, maybe?
I'm really enjoying your series on the towns and villages of Iceland. Looking forward to the next one! Thank you.

Yes the Northern Lights are everywhere, but it's the clouds that tend to give us a hard time :) and always welcome :)

My pleasure!

That road closing wind is, I believe, a katabatic wind that falls down from the adjacent mountains. Very dangerous and sudden.
Yes it's a reason to be careful around there

I expect it gets blown away before it gets too deep.

👍
What is the landscape at the start of the video ? Looks very interesting ! With all those huge cracks it got to be quite young, I believe ?
It's a lave field by Trölladyngja volcano, facing NE and you see the city lights in the shot
@@JustIcelandic I guess the city got to be Akureyri then, your hometown. Quite a distance from the volcano.
is it possible to buy land in Kjalarnes?
Thanks you for your wonderful channel.I'll be in Iceland again in some weeks.
I actually think so....yes
What kind of investment do you have in mind?
