Yo there’s this little fast food kitchen area with some tunnels and a creepy room I left bc I thought I heard some if anyone wants to go with me there lmk
You're correct; a three screen movie theatre was where the Home Depot is now. It was called Womeco Theater and it had a few store fronts attached to it. One was a custard ice cream parlor called "Custards Last Stand". That second level wasn't the food court, that was stores. Its the third level where Marshalls was at that was the food court. This Mall used to be the spot. Some of the stores were Burdine's, Lord & Taylor (which turned into Mervyns), Service Merchandise (which had its own wing) Specs Music, Woolworth, Lauria's, KayBee Toys, Giggles, Gap, Comptempos, Baron's, J Riggings, Coda, JW (Jeans West) and too many to remember. There were also a few stores that had basement levels including Oshman's, Woolworth and Burdines. I wonder what happened to the space down there. They need to turn that mall into a giant Food Court. The bigger stores can be full blown resturants. Just an idea.
At min 1:28 if you look to the right the two-story building, around 1980 if you were standing in 163rd Street mall parking lot you can look over to that building and see people disco dancing and having dance contest I'm the second floor. The mall did not close because of Aventura Mall, Aventura Mall I believe open 1982 ,the 163 Street mall was hopping from 70's 80s 90s and very early 2000s, it was the high crime and stores leaving.
The part of the mall with the elevator used to be a Richard’s dept store. Then in the 80’s it changed the 1st and 2nd floor were stores the 3rd floor was the food court
You're right about the theater but I don't remember the second floor being a food court, that was on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor was a bunch of stores, including blockbuster music, a dollar store & a bunch of ladies apparel. The first space on your left when you first walked in was once a game room. I'm going way back though.

Your right. I used to be an assistant manager at JW and Victoria’s Secret was right next door

Aventura Mall opened in 1983.

It was built in the late fifties. It was open air with a small area that was air conditioned.

I think originally the food court was on first floor then moved to the second floor.
