UPS are very inefficient and most of our new pumps use 12V or 24V DC anyway so we could connect them directly to a ups battery.
a pump will usually run a day on standart UPS battery, meanwhile an average consumer PC UPS will discharge in an hour without any load just from operating DC/AC inverter.
It quite simple to make a diy battery back up solution (Box, 1-2 . batteries, battery tender, 10A relay, and some appropriate for your gear DC jacks) it is WAY cheaper, and would take up a much more compact box than an UPS.
Update: Behold the glorious AD-155B Meanwell PSU with Battery backup: www.meanwell-web.com/en-gb/ac-dc-enclosed-power-supply-with-ups-function-ad--155b
Connect battery(ies, 1 for 12V, 2 in series for 24V, you can parallel if need longer running time) - I recommend deep discharge AGMs from UPS'es they go ~20euros a block.
    Add AC cable.
Get appropriate DC connectors for your pump(s).
Nice box (open for psu breath or better yet add a fan).
Bit of fat wire, connectors, crimps, and fuses - you probably can do everything with bolts and crimps, no soldering required.

@@skzion2 Actually I have an improved suggestion: google AD-155 Meanwell PSU with battery back up - just add AC cable, UPS battery 1 for 12V or 2 for 24V, and wire a DC connector for your pump(s). Put everything in a nice box - just do not close it psu needs to breathe.

Pro-tip, a battery backup in conjunction with a controller will allow your controller to give out one last cry for help letting you know there is a power outage.
I like that though "The Marriage Saver", might have to get at least one of those just because :D

So I just got a 30gal saltwater fish tank what, would be the best RO/DI unit to use that’s affordable for a teen?

I know something about generators but Mark didn't mention it. Only buy an inverter generator if possible since they are the ones that have the cleanest power. Cheap generators do not control their power output very well and can destroy sensitive electronics, like computers and refrigerators. You do NOT want to run your expensive Apex with a cheap generator! Honda makes the best generators hands down. Yamaha's are also excellent with Generac inverter generator is good. Harbor Freight generators have some Honda clones but the verdict is still out on their clean power and longevity. If it's an emergency you might not have a choice so in that case you might want to bypass the Apex and anything else controlled by a computer. BTW, most power supplies will not clean the power.

I have just had a disaster with my tank. I spilled water from the skimmer onto my refugium light and shorted out my apex along with my Varios return pump . How you go about some type of backup for this?

Do you have to drill a hole in your RODI holding tank to install the type of float switches that were shown in the video? Also, will the Apex optical sensors seal to a curved tank?

The original floats need a hole, Ice Cap makes a float on a Magnet.

You can also try putting sensor in the lid - still need drilling but surface is usually flat
