      I recently moved out of San Diego as our landlord sold our house and we had to move. However, moving to Murrieta which is about an hour away from San Diego is nice too and cheaper as we managed to get a big two story house for rent in Murrieta for only about $3000 a month which is not too bad compared to San Diego whereas San Diego, you’d be paying that much for a small shack. Lol 😂

    The older I get the more I prioritize community over climate. No matter how nice the sun and beaches are, you will not be happy if you are lonely. Due to the high cost of living, San Diego is a revolving door. Many people come to "live it up" for a bit only to move away later (especially once they have kids). As soon as you make a solid group of friends, they move away and you have to start over.

    I am very lucky and blessed to be living out here in SD. I started living out here in the late 2000 as an Active Marine. When I got out in 2001, I decided to make SD my official home. It was a struggle with no family or support but I was determined to stay here, by all means. Even if I had to stay in my car. When I say I was blessed, 2010 I was married to a beautiful wife from my home town and we decided to purchase our first home in SD. The prices for housing is so crazy here now, I cannot believe we currently own a home that is worth a 3 quarter of a million dollars! I wouldn't imagine paying that much for my particular home. So yes, buying a home in SD is overpriced but there are people out there that would pay that price sadly.

Murrieta is a little cheaper than San Diego, but still pricey because it’s still California. However, not as crazy expensive as San Diego. Lol
    My brother, however, moved out of San Diego back in 2016 with his family and now lives in Oklahoma as he is a now a police officer with Oklahoma City. He said everything is much cheaper out there than California, and he said it was easier getting into the police academy there than in San Diego.

    we almost moved to San Diego in 2017 but we decided to go to Orlando, what held me back were the housing prices and taxes I just read an article if you make 100 grand in Orlando you would have to make 150 grand in San Diego to live the same lifestyle, Orlando taxes are cheaper but they get you in toll roads, and the heat is unbearable in the summer, with that said I love to vacation in San Diego and hope to go back soon.

      A lot of people take the trolley and bus in San Diego! We have a pretty good system, and you can get almost anywhere that you need to. But if you can afford a car, then driving is definitely the way to go since a 20 minute car ride, could take 1.5 hours or more by public transit. I'm scared of driving so I still take public transit to get to school and work.
      On the bus and trolley, it'll mostly be people from Tijuana or people from lower to lower middle class areas of California, trying to get to work, going grocery shopping, or going to shopping malls. There are also a lot of students taking public transit since we have a bunch of schools. Mostly people trying to mind their own business.
      Ngl, there are a lotttt of sketchy people that ride the bus and trolley as well. They usually just go around yelling nonsense, just don't pay attention to them. The closer you get to Downtown San Diego, the sketchier the people. There's also been an increase of homeless people, and they're everywhere, but they tend to gather in Downtown more.
      On the blue line, San Ysidro up until H street are the safest. Anything after 24th street, up until America Plaza, or maybe Washington St, is pretty sketchy. I'd completely avoid walking around Barrio Logan, 12th&Imperial, Park&Market, 5th Avenue, and City College. I'd avoid the Orange Line as well. In the Green Line, it starts to get nicer the closer you get to Mission Valley and Fashion Valley, which are the nicer malls. At the end of the Blue Line you get to another really nice, bougie mall in La Jolla.
      I hope this helps!

    Fantastic video, you pretty much nail most of the reasons! For anyone thinking about moving here, DONT, you would be basically paying high prices for the weather. There is no point to purchase a small 2 bedroom house for $600,000 just for you to enjoy the weather. Plus people in San Diego are weird, and extremely flaky. San Diego is perfect for those people that are: outdoorsy, heavily religious, rich, and extremely superficial.

      In Serbia it is 5.98$ now and was like 5.4$ for years, and it's now going to be 8.78$ because of crisis. Coffee went up 100% where i live. I pay for car registration 325$ and average yearly income here in Serbia is 7200$, some still work for 5500$. Now imagine me paying that price while having 600$ for whole month

  • @garybowen7795
    @garybowen7795 2 года назад +1

    It's not just San Diego it's the whole state of California and my rent is so high here is that the state and the counties and the cities continue to increase the property taxes and add bonds like the city of Tracy which makes your property tax bill go way high and so if you have a rental you have to increase the rent each year to keep up with what the state the counties and the cities are doing with property taxes so look at them because they are the ones who are creating the homelessness and for other older people for all fixed income we cannot keep up with what they are doing especially the cities

    I've been trying to move away from here for the last 9 years. Beautiful city unlike NY where you're pretty much just paying for the name and the address. Still not worth it to live here unless you're rich. Politicians and voters here do nothing to make life easier either.
