There are two types of FTD ship builders: Type 1: MOAR ARMOR Type 2: What do you mean I can't just use four layers of spaced wood for armor and have my internals be 85% empty space.
Try to build with as much light alloy as you can below the water line. You can also use wood if you are trying to save material cost. As you can see with the Thermopylae, the whole outer hull is light alloy. You can also use air pumps but for me they cause micro stutters every few seconds.
Only put armor where absolutely needed and keep in mimd that you need about 6 beams of alloy to float a beam of heavy armor. Try to use heavy armor beamslopes instead
I made a ship specifically to beat the Thermopylae you made 4 years ago ish, obviously trying not to make it too op and make it similar to your ship, mostly only copied hull shapes and ciwis turrets. ITS ON, I will make yet another ship when hopefully you post this to the workshop so i can make it about as big... or bigger. you dont remember me but i copy a lot of my stuff from you at least on my older ships, still using the black and red colors. This time i wont copy any turrets or anyting i swear... maybe just a little.
It's about 2.4 million materials. If 10 is cost effective and 1 is not then its a 7 ish. My target cost was 1.5 million mats lol. Working on a cheaper ship now to see if I can reliably destroy the Thermopylae.

Gongratulations on defeating the tyr, now do it at equal cost because that plasma gun alone probbaly costs more than all. Of the tyrs main guns
That'll be a goal eventually but not with this ship. It's about one and a half of the Tyrs main guns.
