Hi Angela , I don’t know if you know this or not. Lionel Richie wrote the song missing you for Diana Ross and I do agree that Miss Ross and Mr. Ritchie vocals were perfectly matched such a beautiful song
Hands down the greatest love song between a man and a woman. It still holds up to this day, a true romantic classic, they dont make e'm like this anymore. I never get tired of listening to this song. It takes make back to a more innocent time in my life, the early 80s when life was simple and not so complex like it is now. This song is taken from the 1981 movie "Endless Love" starring Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt and by the way one of my favorite movies of all time. I would recommend seeing the movie. Also there is another song that I like by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross from the movie Soundtrack with the same title "Endless love" and Its called "Dreaming of you." Check it out.
My all time favourite love song and still gives me goosebumps to this day and takes me back to my first and only true love who I still think about everyday and always will as this song says (she is and always will be my Endless love) but sadly we went in different directions but 35 years on I’m still as much in love with her as I was back then and hearing this amazing song just takes me back there, god I was so lucky to feel those feelings of love that I’ve never felt since and I very much doubt will again but then I listen to Diana and Lionel and they take me back there each and every time it will be played on my very last journey where I hope to see her again. Great reaction video❤to two of the all time great artists
Lionel Richie co-wrote We Are The World with Michael Jackson. You are so right about him being known as a fantastic song writer as well. I love his love ballads from the 80's.
This song was my 1st love & me theme song, she suggested this song. She left me a few years after this song was release. To me it's a sad song. After she left me, I was listening to songs by, Micheal Bolton's, "How am I suppose to live without you" & Rockwell's, "Knife". It took many years to love again. Which my theme songs, Gloria Gaynor "I will survive" & my wife theme song, Chicago's, "Will you still love me". Just the 2 of us, will get me in tears right from the start of the song.
Remember listening to this at a schoolyard at night hanging out with lots of friends summertime bunch of cars and streetlights shining onto the boom box playing the soundtracks to all our lives little did we know...
Im old enough to remember when this song first hit the radio stations played constantly every hour for months at the time everybody was crazy for this song 🙋🙋🙋💘💘
I shared the tears with you Angela. It doesn’t matter how many years go by, (and I’m almost 70 now), or how many times we might listen to a beautifully written song, when it’s sung by these two immense talents, the emotion just flows! Jeff
1981, this was released just days before my wedding. The record wasn’t even available in the local stores. My fiancé tracked down a DJ and got a tape of the song, so we could dance our first dance to it. Sadly, the love wasn’t endless… 😢😢😢
If I am not mistaken this was in a movie with Brooke Shields 🤔 One of the “deepest” “emotional” love songs ever….to this day I can Imagine singing this to my “love” that got away…. and EVERYTHING goes back to the way it was ….😢❤🙏🏻☮️✌🏼💯🎤
when bobby hatfield sung Unchained Melody in 1965 was in my opinion THE greatest love song ever. Coming From Him Was The Greatest Live Performance I've Ever Seen
This song was from a movie of the same title which came out summer of 1981. I was 14 yrs old. That was also the summer that Princess Diana married Prince Charles. So there was something very romantic in the air that summer for me. This song is about that first love which is that deep, all encompassing love. That love like you said where you imagine wanting and making a life with that person forever!! Every time I hear this song it transports me back to that time of young passionate love and all its imagined possibilities.
Mine and my hubby’s song. We always used to sing it to each other while we slow danced to it. You need to see the movie from the 80’s, too. James Spader, the villain from all the 80’s rom-coms, is fantastic, as always. So is Brooke Shields. I forget the name of the leading man. So heartbreaking.
The movie is also about first love, which comes with all the accompanying highs and lows. This movie has a twist and I don’t think its story is dated. Yes, Lionel Richie wrote this and I think We are the World, too. He’s such a great storyteller/writer.
One of my all time favorites. You won’t get love songs like this today. LR also wrote Lady with Kenny Rogers. If you haven’t heard it you should check it out.
Two Motown artistes who had brilliant solo careers came together to complement each other with this beautiful song. Diana Ross also did some great duets with Marvin Gaye-Colin Ward
Don't forget Luther Vandross & Cheryl Lynn "If This World Were Mine" and my favorite the live version of Teddy Pendergrass, Stephanie Mills - Feel the Fire
I’m gonna toss this out to have you listen to Teddy Pendergrass and Whitney Houston sing a duet called. Nobody loves me like you do. If you like this when I think you would like that one as well. Endless love is a timeless classic.
Hey Angela, I'm a few days late catching this one,but I'm really enjoying the 80s duets this month. I was a teenager in the 80s so these are my kinds of songs. Mr. Richie did indeed write this song for the movie and with Diana Ross in mind to sing it. He told the story once of when he presented the song to the movie people and told them of wanting Diana to sing it as a duet, they said, fine, but who's gonna sing it with her? He exclaimed, Me! OF COURSE! It became one of the songs that would begin a really big run of success for him in the 1980s. Great reaction and looking forward to some more great songs 🎵.
If you want to listen to another version of this song.Boyce Avenue wnd Connie Talbot do a version which i also like very much. I think you might enjoy it too.
What an amazing pairing!! Another great pairing is Patti La Belle and Michael McDonald, both such unique voices, and "On My Own" is def. another great 80's duet. Hope that's part of your reactions.
Diana Ross"s career was on absolute fire when this song came out and Lionel Ritchie was about to embark on his solo career about a year after this song and his career would break all kinds of records. "Endless Love" was not only one of the biggest songs of the 80's but of all time. It was the number one song on Billboard pop charts from mid August 1981-mid October 1981 which was a huge feat for the time with no internet or other technology. The movie version of "Endless Love" starting Brooke Shields is not very good unfortunately and Lionel Ritchie wrote "We Are The World" along with Michael Jackson.
Song sung so sweet...you'd get a cavity just listening to it! This song is so great, other than other artist covering it, Richie and Ross went on to doing solo versions of this song also. The song was originally going to be an instrumental, which Shield's character would be singing the first verse lyrics to it in the movie, but that would've been it. The movie's producers were so blown away by the song, they ask Richie to place lyrics to it and flesh out the entire song...thankfully! Richie and Ross teamed up to do an upbeat song for the soundtrack also 'Dreaming of You'; such an upbeat cute song. As 'Endless Love' will make you have a heartfelt cry, 'Dreaming of You' will make you smile! Hate to say it Angela, we love to see you cry 'tears of love'. What more can see say about you, because you listen to the lyrics and feel the music. As much joy you bring to our lives...Happy holidays!
Such A wonderful song absolutely Beautiful, It has been awhile since ive heard it .Lionel did write it and there was a movie .A love story about two young people from different sides of the town fall in love. Thanks Angela lovely song!
Great - lip sync. It's also very beautiful and full of feeling! Do you also know the version by Lionel and Shania Twain, there's a nice video about it...!
This was a massive #1 hit and Grammy winner, the title track from a movie that failed horribly. The film was adapted from a successful novel about young love but the film went flat with a miscast Brooke Shields starring. However the song lives on.
This song was written By Lionel Ritchie. Lionel has written some of the most beautiful love songs over the years but none of them top this. No one can sing this but him and Diana Ross. Years ago he remade it this song with Shanai Twain and it sounded like crap. Doesn't come close to the original.
The movie, which came out in 1981 was terrible (my sister took me to see it because I couldn't get in on my own - I was 13). I love it now but only because it is a guilty pleasure - both leads, Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt were just horrible in it and the story was just so bad. But conversely, the song is out of this world! That was when duets were a big deal - Elton John and Kiki Dee, James Ingram and Patti Austin, Billy Preston and Syreeta, Ashford and Simpson!
Always a great song. Your reaction, damn. It really got you haha. 81, dang I was 5 when this came out. Such a great time to be alive. There is NO song like this in this time cause everyone seems to want to be a butthole. Anyway, loved your reaction. Stay beautiful
Perhaps the best combination of voices for a duet ever! ...just the right difference in their voices...both so tenderly communicating.
Marvin Gaye &Tammy Terrell; Rick James & Tina Marie are the best I've heard.
Hi Angela , I don’t know if you know this or not. Lionel Richie wrote the song missing you for Diana Ross and I do agree that Miss Ross and Mr. Ritchie vocals were perfectly matched such a beautiful song
God bless your tender heart my dear Angela ♥
Haven't listened to solo L. Richie, try Wandering Stranger..music arrangement and vocals top notch
I believe this was voted the most beautiful love song of all time, beating out "Unchained melody"
Have you ever heard Rick James/Tina Marie "Happy".
Another masterpiece written by Lionel

Lionel Richie was popular, and talented in my opinion, especially during the 80's.I liked " Hello ", " All Night ' , and " Say You ,Say Me "
Amen!!!
This is the best "singing in the car" song EVER! The perfect love song!
Hey ms Angela, i don't know if you've seen it but the live version of mr Lionel Richie and ms Diana Ross singing at the Oscar's is beautiful

Lionel wrote it for the movie by the same name starring Brooke Shields.

Such a gorgeous song used as the theme song for the creepiest movie.
Have always loved this song!!! 😊
You are listening to the most beautiful duet of the 80s. I understand that it is part of Diana discography, since Lionel is the invited artist.

You're so adorable with songs like this.

must see movie of the same title.
Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey has a version of this. It feels ro polished, there is something raw about the version with Diana Ross.
