    Your mods match my dream for my Tankstick, though the placement of the spinner worries me. The only thing I would change is putting a USB inside for all three control sets to go into and then the one USB coming out the back.

      rager1969 the spinner location seems great to me, I rarely use the trackball but when I do the spinner isn’t really in the way since your hand comes in at an angle anyway

    Great video and I think I might do it. But how does this affect the rollerball? Years after making this video are you still using it, or did you find the placement annoying.

    • @DIY-Nick

      I don’t find it interferes much with it but I honestly rarely play track ball games. When I play Missile Command or Centipede I don’t really notice the spinner since my hand touches the trackball at an angle anyway.

      @@DIY-Nick I had a weird conflict with the trackball when both usb's are plugged into my raspberry pi (the buttons didn't work). I had to get a USB switch selector to resolve it

      @@jayhays8267 I didn’t experience that issue, glad you found a fix!

    Nice vid! I just got my spinner for my X-Arcade tank stick, but wasn't too sure where to mount it since I had never opened up the controller before. It was a tight fit like yours, but it worked out fine!

      Awesome! Yeah I like it there a lot better than taking out a button.

    He obviously doesn't play Golden Tee... that placement is a headache why not mount to the right where there is TONS of space and out the way of the track ball...

    • @DIY-Nick
      @DIY-Nick  5 лет назад +1

      I admit I don’t use the track ball nearly as much as the spinner but I don’t personally find that the spinner gets in the way of using the track ball for games like Missle Command.

    Great video.Did you have to change any code inside Mame or retroarchto get it to work?

    I just ordered the spinner. I'm thinking of placing it under the player 2 stick where all that free space is. I think that would help keep it out of the way. Any thoughts?

    • @DIY-Nick
      @DIY-Nick  Год назад +1

      There is a lot less room inside than it appears from the outside. Unless you are planning to replace a button with the spinner I doubt it will fit on the side.

    • @Valkron11
      @Valkron11 Год назад

      @@DIY-Nick wow. I thought there would be enough room but I haven't even opened mine up yet. Maybe I'll just replace a button for now. I'd hate to drill a hole and have it not work. Thanks!

    • @DIY-Nick
      @DIY-Nick  Год назад

      @@Valkron11 yeah it definitely fits where I put it but barely. Its not just the size of the hole you need to account for but also the depth to fit the length and the angle from the slant of the top plate.

    Hi Nick, Quick question, do the USB cable that plugs in to the logic board go to your computer or is there a y-splitter that shares the cable with the track ball? Also what menu was that, where you adjusted spinner sensitivity?

    • @DIY-Nick
      @DIY-Nick  4 года назад +1

      Steve Roach yes it’s is a separate USB that goes to my Retropie. I use a cable tube to combine the three USB cables together and USB extensions to make them all longer. The menu I adjusted the sensitivity of the spinner is part of MAME which is the emulator for Arcade ROMS.

    • @steveroach6707
      @steveroach6707 4 года назад

      @@DIY-Nick Ahh I use Recalbox and I can't seem to find those settings, because I also want to set the trackball sensitivity.

    • @DIY-Nick
      @DIY-Nick  4 года назад +1

      @@steveroach6707 I haven't used Recalbox, with MAME the default to access the menu is the TAB key on your keyboard and then you can setup a certain button combination on your joystick to do it as well which is what I did. Once in the MAME menu you have the same options as the actual arcade games so games that use a spinner would have the setting, games that don't would not. For other consoles there may or may not be an option to adjust sensitivity.

    Does the back panel simply come off by gently forcing it?! I'm about to install my spinner but don't want to damage the casing underneath.

      Zeusdaz - The Unemulated Retro Game Channel after removing all the screws the back comes off pretty easy prying it off gently with a flat screwdriver

    do you think that the Energy Storage Cylinder really makes a difference as I contemplating purchasing this system for my x arcade..

    • @DIY-Nick
      @DIY-Nick  5 лет назад +1

      Yes I think the energy storage makes it feel much more solid and heavy like one you would find on a real arcade game.
