I'm so glad you reviewed this! I love smashbox and it's a brand that gets dragged a lot by some beauty youtubers.
I find their products to be so reliable: eyeshadow primer, halo powder, superfan mascara...
I have no idea why they are not given more love by the beauty community. Perhaps they’re just not reaching out to creators?
I wore this yesterday for the first time and I was shocked how good it looked. I had only seen one review so I didn’t have any expectations. It worked beautifully over the Tarte Timeless Smoothing primer (by my nose) and the Elf Liquid Putty primer. I did wait to see the shades in store before purchasing, but ended up with the shade recommended based on my old Smashbox shade. I have mature combo skin and this wore well all day, even in our 90+ degree heat with 8000% humidity. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this, or I’m missing it if they are. I also tried the new Smashbox concealer and I liked that too.
Their complexion products are SO good, Carey. I agree. And they don't get enough attention.

I just picked it up at Ulta and I'm so excited to try it. I've been so sad that they've discontinued the oil free hydrating foundation. It's been my HG since 2018 and lasted all day even during the Covid mask era. I literally gasped when I saw they came out with a new version.
Wow this looked gorgeous on you!!❤ I love a light to medium coverage in the summer especially so I will pick this up. Oh and kudos to Smashbox for giving deep shades 💃🏿💃🏿
They have so many great shades including light olive which is such a tough one to find

Thanks for the review Rebecca. Will definitely try as one of my favourite foundations has been the Smashbox 24hr hydrating one on my combo 56yr old skin. Not looking for glowy or fancy pants foundation just a good natural looking one that lasts. This brand is underrated as my daughter keeps coming back to the same Smashbox as well.👍

It’s been a long time since I’ve bought anything from Smashbox. I have a strong memory of the Max Factor Pan Stick, though. I thought it was like magic!

SUCH a good product. Haha. We all have our own version of a type of dark pit of despair. Haha.
This foundation looks great on you. I like the natural skin finish. I also love using the warmth of my hands to press a base product in to settle. I generally like less coverage. I’m curious if you could add an oil or cream to see if you still get a natural finish with a lighter coverage. I love foundations that are easy to manipulate to get the finish you want on a particular day. ❤
What a great question. I think it’s always going to be medium. I don’t think we can get it any lighter than medium but I’m sure willing to experiment.

I think it's funny that you press your foundation in w/your hands. I just can't see myself doing that - I would feel the need to wash my hands, like the foundation may end up on them BUT you also use your jeans to clean off your hands🥰
When I am not on camera I promise you I do not use my jeans ha ha but I do end up washing my hands absolutely.
Looks like a good one! I’m wondering if you are interested in trying the Rituel de Fille foundation (I don’t think you have reviewed it yet). It’s one I have my eye on as am ready to purchase a new foundation. Also am wondering if you’re getting ready to do a mid year ranking of the foundations you’ve reviewed so far in 2023 as it would be very helpful. Seems like there’s a lot of good ones. Sure appreciate all you do.
I have not tried rituel de fille and I have heard so many good things so I am very curious. It is on my list for the next new release. I am absolutely in the midst right now of doing a midyear review of the concealers and color correctors that we’ve had released. There have been so many. But I realize I need to do foundations as well and eyeshadow sticks.
Smashbox is a solid brand. I already have their duo fiber foundation brush and it’s a winner. I’m not sure how I would describe their foundations…They seem to have a thin formula that may have higher pigment payoff. What do you think? Is it too dry for dry skin? The studio skin does well with a drop of face oil.
This one is not dry in the least. Super creamy actually! First time I've tried one of their brushes. Am def a convert now.
It looks great on you Rebecca. It reminds me of a past Revlon one I used to use years ago.

Wow, this foundation looks gorgeous on you. The color match is amazing, too. It looked extremely natural but just perfected-exactly what I want in a base product (maybe what we all want, I guess!)
You don’t hear much about Smashbox, but I’ve liked everything I’ve ever tried from them. I’m not wearing a lot of foundation this summer (it’s just too hot and humid) but I’m keeping this one in mind come the fall!
Edited to add: I take it back! I’m buying it now. They have a LIGHT OLIVE SHADE! I almost fainted. Nobody (except Lisa Eldridge) makes a light olive shade. We light green people are just stuck adding green color corrector to everything because everyone thinks you have to be medium to be green. Nay! We pale greens exist. This is SO EXCITING!!
Lisa!!!!! Please please please please please, and I’m going to nag you because I’m good at that, let me know what you think of the light olive. It is so impossible to find a good match for olive complexions especially light tone olive complexions. I’m so excited that you are trying this

@@NotFitforPrintBeauty’ve now worn the Smashbox about 7 times. The great news is that the light olive shade is fantastic. I could still probably add a little green to it, but even without any shade correction I can wear it just fine. Honestly that’s the first foundation I can say that about in years, tbh.
So-Light Olive shade get two big thumbs up from this green girl. 👍🏼👍🏼
(My problem is that sometimes it looks and wears fantastically, and other times it dries me out. I can’t seem to duplicate the moisture and primer that made it look good. So it’s kind of like a crapshoot! But, I’m continuing to try!
Has anyone else had this problem? What is your routine for foolproof application?
(Oh and I have combo/oily skin so I don’t usually have problems with a dry t-zone! But I do find it helps my oils a lot-maybe too much?)
@@LisaF_ lisa!!! I love this report back! Why is it that sometimes there’s a makeup witch. Do you know what I mean by that? It’s like this glorious glamour. Next day falls flat. WTH?! Weather? Humidity? Phase of the moon? Sigh.
Am I the only person in the world who hasn’t tried anything from Smashbox??? They’ve been around for a lifetime and i’ve never looked their way. I wonder if it is the packaging. I need to do some soup searching 😂
Tracie! I really don’t blame you. They were really heavily into their photography studio for a while and then they were kind of doing some promotion and then they did a few products. They have kind of been all over the map so it actually does not surprise me.

Eleni!!!!! I think it’s actually terribly unfair that Smashbox doesn’t get more love from creators. They really are a solid brand and their complexion products are fantastic. I guess there’s more for those of us who are in the know

I would rank them with this actually in first place followed by the Laura Mercier and the beauty blender which is actually an underrated very good foundation third. That’s the top three that’s pretty solid

I don’t understand why so many people who review foundations wear a high neck sweater or shirt when reviewing a foundation 😑 it would be great to see a bit of the chest area so we can see how the shade compares to the rest of your body, it would be super helpful for color matching purposes 👍🏼
I usually actually show it with my neck and I forgot this time because I was too excited. I will make sure to not forget again as I understand your complaint entirely and it makes perfect sense

Great question! Do you know what? I think I’m gonna go with the Louboutin. It’s a little bit more matte but it just doesn’t budge. We are splitting hair though this is a very good product

I actually had this on radar and bought yesterday. Smashbox usually knows that they are doing. Have you still been using this ?? The shades seem yellow so we’ll see how it goes . I’m still trying to find a replacement for my beloved Lancôme teinte idole cuz the new one was yuck. 😢 😊
Rose, oh I know the lancome loyalists are NOT happy at the reformulation I am SO sorry! I AM still using this. It's SO comfy! But shade choice is NOT easy.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I hear ya ! I wore Lancôme for the last 10 years or more. They recently changed their Renergie cream yet again too ! I used to love it but not now plus too expensive for subpar product. So the smashbox on me is way too yellow and I got a neutral undertone and not sure how the other choices will be because they are all yellowish . It did feel nice but it’s way too yellow to make it look natural. 😫

Good morning Rebecca looking beautiful my friend ❤😊 just FYI, last night 🌃 I was gonna buy the new Rare Beauty eyebrow pencil but getting an extra 15 % off so I ended up with the shape and fill duo instead more bang for the money 💵 and see from there ... cause for only $6 difference why not cause most pencils dry up too quickly and I don't wear makeup 💄 👝 everyday and it's less product for $20 but I love ❤her new gel eyeliners OMG 😅so pretty and creamy I told my husband Richard I want those for Xmas 🎄 gift 🎁🎀 now this new product you're trying here nit sure yet again I don't wear any foundation or concealer cause all the concealer I try is drying or it settles fine lines or irritated my eyes 👀 but I will try the Rare Beauty one what I do miss is the older formula of Bobbi Brown cream color corrector in peach but now it's harder to find and expensive...I'm not a MacManus anymore although people like the Mac paint pot maybe I'll try ... do nit like Nars it irritated me I need a cream light weight ... but wearing glasses 👓 it's harder to wear anyways if I need light ill just use plain Vaseline it definitely works 😊have a great rest of your day 🙋♀️💗🙏

That’s not a word. Did I say that? Well it was woefully wrong. Oops. Haha. But not an American thing. A language thing. It’s called neologism and it’s the putting together of a few words to make another, often meaningless one but it works for the purpose. Looks like I accidentally made use of that there.
