    • @mrmtn37
      @mrmtn37 8 лет назад +4

      Pride if I am not mistaken is a sin and has cost us our freedom in just about every way. It is RESPONSIBILITY that is important when considering freedom. I would look around at whats going down because this America is not the utopia you describe. It is fully every bit of responsible action virtually no one has used and a power when not used, when not practiced, much like a sword in the rain will rust and be forgotten until such time as it is our responsibility to use. Please Check into the NDAA and as well look into the good ol Constitution why it has grown? 4000 words to over 3000 pages? What for? and blanks in the back for even more Explination? What for that document had everything we needed already right? Welcome to your change. The change actually took place a long time ago. Now someone used trust and in fact took over that responsibility for all of us. I would seroously look into your utopian all poweful document and hit me up and tell me if you see change? Oh and hit me up if you see our rights? I have the been reading it for 2.5 almost 3 years and doing research to back up my findings and educate myself of what it all means since the constitution CHANGED.

    That's the problem in America right there.
    People have no idea what kind freedom and wealth they have, so they are going to ruin it, all the while thinking they are making it better. The sad part is, when it falls down, they won't have any idea why, because they never knew how it was made in the first place.

      I do know what slavery is. I do know that historically wealth in capital has been obtained by theft. I do know that bankrupting the economy by endless printing of fiat is Historically a means to an end. I know that banks, finance, and corporations running govt is not beneficial to the working class. I do know that printing fiat and giving it to those who least require it so they can purchase their own stock is maniacal.
      I know that welfare has done nothing to assist anyone since it became so easy to get, not individual welfare or corporate or bank or wall street welfare welfare welfare?
      Total idiocracy in defense of a kakistocracy.
      I do know that the Constitution is meaningless, Democracy only works if everyone has equal power and authority. If everyone has equal power and authority there would be no police or military there would be no legislation but for a few simple natural laws Non aggression, and that all have equal power and authority, any aggression against either should be met any means of defense within the power of the victim without limitation or question. Simple as that
      So as far as your authority to place judgement? It is illegitimate has no meaning and worse yet offers no solution. There in the problem lies? You keep pointing shit out takes some to see some I guess? Meanwhile I will be solving real problems here in reality. I bet you will even be offended like a bitch is supposed to. @@johnstockwellmajorsmedleyb1214 chaz/ chop, the thing happening in Seattle, where people occupy a few blocks, and ask for defunding police among other things. Basically anarchists.
      You can't put equal power and equal authority on unequal people. Let's face it, none of us are equal. We don't hold equal knowledge, equal experience, equal mental capabilities, needs or wishes. A society based just on equality (anarchy) will only live until someone takes control of it by force. Maybe it might work for robots, or small insects, but for superior beings, it all comes down to Maslow's pyramid, if you heard of it. Climbing it involves trying to be above the others in the top floors of the pyramid.
      By the way, funny how "any agression should be stopped by the victim". Sounds like the recipe for mass murder with a gun. If you have any connection to reality, you will notice that no government and too much government both lead to bloodshed. But no judgement, "offended bitch". Feels good to be tough online.

    Your point is fair. There's nothing wrong with criticizing America's mistakes. You're right. Let me ammend my comment:
    One of the differences between conservatives and progressives is that conservatives recognize that often (especially when it comes to foreign policy) choices have to be made between bad or worse while progressives tend to base their decisions on fantasy. The way the media and progressive commentators handled the "Arab spring" betrayed a juvenile mentality of fantasy and wishes.

    • @RodMartinJr
      @RodMartinJr 6 лет назад +2

      Great question. Emotions and feelings are power. And ego wields great power over our feelings. Identifying (egotistically) with a viewpoint is thus powered by the source of all evil -- self-concern (egoism).
      Defeat only happens with the weak-minded who feel more than they think. Those who have less ego and more curiosity to learn will see the stronger argument win, because they ignore feeling and emotion in favor of calm reason.

    I used to fall for the liberal crap that America is not exceptional...that we have sinned too much to be exceptional. But once I realized that a country's exceptionalism is not based on how perfect it is, but rather how it compares to other countries and other time periods throughout history, then I truly understood that the United States is the greatest ever, and that I am beyond fortunate to be a citizen here.
    Though we have certainly done much harm in some parts of the world (including our own), the good things we have done outweigh it by miles. But what is most important is our capacity to change for the better - the American people have learned a lot, and hopefully, we can continue to learn and improve ourselves and our great country and make it even greater. I am optimistic.

    Yes, the fundamental question is whether the glass started out empty or started out full.
    Many seem to think wealth magically and almost inevitably appears (glass started out full) and are indignant that more doesn't appear. Others realize that it takes enormous effort and sacrifice to make a few drops appear (glass started out empty) and even more to overcome other's desire to confiscate more than they contribute.
    Thus the glass often remains only half full, with both sides angry about it for opposite reasons.

    Driving down prices are a good thing for most people. This means lower prices for many people of modest incomes, thus their purchasing power rises. Large conglomerates in many ways can do things more efficiently because of economies of scale. Economies of scale allows large conglomerates to charge lower prices and make MORE in profits due to increased demand from lower prices. That may not benefit those who are being outcompeted, but it benefits society as a whole.

    And legislation has been- ironically- killing American freedoms for a long time.

    I don't think those in CHAZ/CHOP would listen to let alone understand what is being said here. Compared to other countries the people here are very rich and fortunate and yet this generation wants to destroy that which has enabled them to speak their mind and, like Michael Moore, get very rich. I will fight to protect what is mine and the future that my children deserve. Those who wish to live in a socialist country, fine go to one and live there, I will even buy you a one way ticket there, first class, see how you like there. I enjoy living in VA, the colorful past and scenery it has, reading the books of Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams to name a few.Take care Mr Sowell and stay well.

    Extremes are never positive nor accurate. There are plenty of things that need improvement, and there are more than plenty that are fine the way they are. If we stop bickering and rather start concentrating on the tasks at hand, we can be even better off than we are now, and help others get there too.

    @EGarrett01 No one's arguing that. But that type of thinking makes people complacent. People need to ALWAYS be critical of government, whether things are good or bad. That is the beauty of this country, we CAN criticize the government. Of course it could be worse, it could always be worse. But it can always be better, too. Instead of thanking our lucky stars we're not North Korean, we should be wary of our own government, so that we never find ourselves in the same (or similar) boat they are in.

    @TsugaC I very rarely agree with anyone completely and there is plenty of things he said that I do agree with. But I usually have a problem with the general idea of American exceptionalism. If people think that the country is already exceptional I think it tends to make them think they don't have to work to make it even better. The unfinished pyramid means we are meant to always be improving. It represents the fact that a nation is always unfinished.

    Sowell's work is based on reality. If there's a writer of political-economics that has rooted all his observations in empirical data, is Thomas Sowell. Basing political decisions that will affect millions of people in an emotional rhetoric is pure demagoguery, is irresponsible and selfish, and brings the kind of results we are seeing in today's world. We need many more people like Sowell.

    "To be for generic change is to say, what we have is so bad, that any change is likely to be for the better. Such a pose may make people feel superior to others who find much that is worth preserving in our values, traditions, and institutions. The status quo is never sacrosanct, but its very existence is proof that it is viable, as seductive alternatives may not turn out to be."
    This describes American politics very well. Everyone wants some kind of big change but no one is willing to take it one step at a time, it's their way or the highway and it ultimately ends up dividing everyone to support the radical, not the realist

    Part of growing up is knowing that often the choice is not between good or bad, but bad or worse. Those who complain about whom America backs, ought to think about what replaced them. Was it immoral to back the Shah or Mubarrack or the Czars or Batista? A child will say yes. A grown up will look at what followed and say no.

    Video is food for thought. About the discussion. When in college (I have 3 degrees) one of my favorite things to do was to look at the methodology of studies. Usually it sucked. Poor research is rampant. In school you learn one study does not a finding make. It takes a body of research for conclusions. I notice in the Psych. Today article it does not give the title of the study nor the scientific journal where it was published. That is how you tell good reporting from bad. I’m an independent.
