Hey shay I’m a scientist working in agriculture industry for the first time. I work with bacteria that help crops with nitrogen sustainability in the environment and reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers. Really enjoy these videos as there is often a disconnect between the lab side and the field application side but this is really eye opening to see how things are done on the field side.

Great video, enjoyed the TikTok's on Instagram, but, the extra production value here is brilliant. Really well edited, cool cinematic shots, same great farming content.

Shay, Leo in NC but my father has a small 20 acre farm in California. I miss this life. You seem to have had a great start and we would love to resurrect my dad's farm instead of having someone rent the property. I just came across your videos today 01/12/22. My brothers want to get back into this and grow my dad's dream. Our story is not as fortuitous as yours but we want to have my dad's legacy mean something. Of course we are a tiny enterprise. Not as large as what your family have been blessed with but God is Good.

Shay that was a good description of planting onions. I have farmed on my own for the last 50 years. Also in high school and while earning a soil science degree. Wife and I rent the fields and equipment to our son that took a lifetime to buy. It is a challenge for him to make the million it take to buy farm inputs.

I searched "onion farmer", and this led me to your channel. Great production on the video, and I love Bon Iver. I thought it was interesting that you mentioned the better equipment comes from Europe. Stay away from John Deere, I guess! Haha.

Hi Shay. Firstly a very nice video to explain your onion sowing process. One question I have is why you have two different colours of encrusted seed when you are showing us the sowing disc? Love all your content. Would be cool if you could keep showing us the development of this field throughout the season and the final harvest and packing result.

    • @ShayFarmKid

Great question. We use many different colors. These colors might indicate a difference variety or even different color of onion.

Mostly because of reduced water usage and better delivery of nutrición to the plants.
