You can still “walk on” once you make the team you will be compensated.
A majority of kickers and punters start out as walk on.
Heck, the majority FINISH as walk-ons as well; even those that go pro.
Listen to Coach JB and Smitty, those walk-on kids are what a lot of programs are built on. What do you think the scout team is? The PWOs are scholarship kids that need an opportunity and to be developed and like Coach JB said, no one wants to spend the money... it's bullshit

What if "getting rid of walk ons" means giving everyone a scholarship? The real separation now is who gets paid and who doesn't, not who gets a free education or not.

Nobody knows the answer to the elimination of walk-on proposal gentlemen. This is all about how to allocate revenue. All the college administrators are doing is blowing smoke. They‘ ve been breaking the law for 100+ years. Don’t forget that, please. The xfer portal, NIL, and soon player revenue sharing are by products of college administrators losing court cases. I don’t feel sorry for them one bit. BTW, PWOs are no different than “walk-ons. Only 1% earn scholarships. Of those, most get awarded in their senior year mainly because the team couldn’t find a Xfer or high schooler to fill an open scholarship spot.

It's not "set in stone." Technically, it's just speculation or a possible proposal they are potentially looking into...
