Lyrics
You're my knight in shining armor
Chase the devil and the dragons away
From manana to manana
Do you know I love you?
(Yes I do ooo)
Storm or sun
You're the only one
And this is how I feel
Rain or shine
You'll always be
One in a million
My fantasy come true
Rain or shine
It's you and me
Cut me a heart on a tree and say
It's forever, not a year and a day
Robin Hood and Major Tom
(Robin Hood and Major Tom)
All the superheroes rolled into one
(You) kiss away my sad and lonelies
You know I love you
(Yes I do do)
Silk and steel
That's the way you feel
And how I love you now
Rain or shine
You'll always be
One in a million
My fantasy come true
Rain or shine
It's you and me
Cut me a heart on a tree and say
It's forever, not a year and a day
Our love will stay
(How I love you now)
How I love you now
Rain or shine
You'll always be
One in a million
My fantasy come true
Rain or shine
It's you and me
Cut me a heart on a tree and say
From me to you
Rain, shine
Rain, shine
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
(Give me all your love)
Rain or shine
You'll always be
One in a million
My fantasy come true
Rain or shine
It's you and me
(Give me all your love)

Really loved Five Star.... us teens of the 80s were lucky to have this era of music.... fond memories for sure
Tuesday April 11th 2023 morning 1021am😮
The way Deniece sings this so gently and soulfully is like being caressed softly and touches the soul. What a stunning voice and singer. Very emotive and the harmonies of the family like angels from heaven. The song is so dreamy and fairytale like. One of the best songs of all time.

Five Star weren't taken seriously in the UK, but this is a really classy pop song, all around - on a par with the Michael Jackson at his 1980s best. It's got a great melody, great harmony, nice lyrics, really beautifully sung and great production.
Reminds me of the postman when this first came out say no more lol x
Ofc they were taken seriously they made millions too
@@jk7878 I meant not taken seriously by the music press (e.g. NME, Sounds) and music journalists and critics. Of course I know they had loads of ordinary fans and sold lots of records.
Well said. 🖤👽
I loved it all those yrs ago the song and them still do and I'm 73 I was in my 3os then and having a fling with the postman oops too much information lol xx
We were probably the last lucky generation. Being a teen during the 80's was a blast, and we were spoiled for choice when it came to quality music. I miss those days.
I agree
kids these days have a far easier life, but certainly modern music or pretend artists are pretty poor. The 80's and 90's were fun and lively
Don't we all.
Yeah totally agree. Innocent time then.
Yuppppp
It's funny really.. the older I get (mid-40s now), the more I miss the 80s.. the music, the TV and movies. No social media, no hysteria over the latest "trending/viral" headline, and people just got on with things and actually interacted more. I love that Now 80s channel on Sky/Freesat UK. Music like this played 24/7
I miss them too, everyone just got on with everything.

Man it was great growing up in the eighties
Yes, culturally it was!
@Cliff Hanley it was great growing up if your parents had a job, 3 million plus families that wasnt the case. music was great
Who give a fuck if your parents working, as if that spoilt your child hood u young and free and u didn’t need money to go enjoy yourself plenty of fires, climbing trees and building dens and a lot of acid along the way, don’t forgot them bright coloured shell suits, the 80s fucking awesome time
Yes it was!♡
John Brett oh yes it was the best
The clothes, the gestures, the swing... My God, to think it was only yesterday and never again
Exactly..misschien those days when I was rocking to this tune as a toddler..
This song needs more views. Such a great pop song. True UnSung heroes.
80s music - the best remedy for bad mood, depression and dark times.
Totally agree and what a choice of brilliant music we had x 😀
When I hear this song, it reminds me exactly how happy I was. 🖤
thats my feeling too
Rain or Shine still sounds as good and as sweet today as it did 30 years ago! That has got to be testament alone of this group's quality and soul.
It sure is had a fling with postman then lol xx

Absolutely still sounds as fresh as the day it came out, now there is not many tunes you can say that about
Now that's what you call a classic legendery absolute masterpiece
Not aged at all
I cant even imagine people back then and even now not liking this song, even with different tastes in music
It really is a very special song
All their songs were amazing. Straight away you're back in the 80's, reading Look-in, watching The Chart Show,, taping the top 40 off the radio...
I swear there's a conspiracy in Britain to make sure 5 Star don't ever get air time, even on the shows that revisit this period. This was good pop music and deserved its place.
@@mattcadman5723 An online radio station is hardly the same as national TV.
Online is where you find the small independent outlets which specialises in stuff like this though.
@@mattcadman5723 True. I'm not denying that. But the OP has a good point about this music not being on TV and it really should be. I know you're not arguing against that. By the way, I did check out that website and it looked pretty good. 🙂
itsnotmeitshim bit they wouldn’t initiate further that’s why?? It’s not just how good you are you have to initiate further do do specific rituals, research it
That's a very good point..you never hear them on the radio do you? I wonder why.
I literally hadn't listened to this song for more than 35 years, but the second it started playing I remembered every note and every line!
It used to be one of my favorites as a kid... This woke up so many amazing memories...
It reminds me of the good old days, Top of the Pops in the 80's
Saleem Bello loved top of the pops. I just lived for it ❤️
I loved Thursday night's looking forward to top of the pops, and then going to Woolworths on a Saturday to by a 7" vinyl for about £1.50. 😀
Still rocking it early 2021... Can't believe hv times has flown.
Was 13 then... 51 now... Still rocking 💋💋💋💋❤❤❤❤
Feels privileged to have grown up in the time with such brilliant music. Wish my children had it this good.
Great time for music also still rocking but in a chair and blanket now 😂😂 😂😂
Me too I was 13, now 51 still enjoying their music

THE BEST GROUP.
DENISE UNIQUE VOICE.
DORIS BRILLIANT CHOREOGRAPHY.
This is by far the best song they released.
Naw...
Never heard of them and the eighties and nineties were my era so when they showed up on my recommended i said let me see what's up. Song after song with weak hooks till i got to this one. So i agree with you.
Second for me. Slightest Touch is the best.
The one and only song reminds me of when I had a fling with the postman u can laugh I do now xxx
System Addict
Absolutely adore this song. I'm 23 but really appreciate the classics
Denise was, and still is, the epitome of talent and beauty... She knocked me for six back in the 80’s and still does today!
She really was beautiful.
And it's clear from this that her superheroes were blissfully Space Oddity, not so far gatecrashed by the jarring intervention of Ashes to Ashes.

This was the first record that I received it was a gift from my beautiful mother who now has dementia and she is70 % memory loss she’s having more bad days than good but the other day I was doing the house work and it came on and she turned around and said with tears in her eyes” remember when I brought you this bab” and oh my god it was amazing memories are what make a life and a life is nothing without family so thanks 🙏🏻 five star 🌟 BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THANKS 🙏🏻 MOM 80’s was the best decade of all time
That is such a beautiful story!

Listening to this on repeat few days now...cant get enough of the happy sounds of yesterday, during the world's current state of chaos.
I’m American and when I do research on 80s R&B music, I feel like Five Star should’ve became more popular in America than they did back then. The group had so much talent and they were definitely ahead of their time. Nobody makes music this good anymore.
British Jacksons?
@@kevinprior3549 hahaha
Now you'd know more than me here if you're researching it, but I have a few theories, one is that the mainstream U.S. record industry didn't want to invest in a band who to them were just U.K. copycats of 'the real thing', I can see their point. On the surface that's all they are but they're actually a great example of the U.K. 'returning the serve', taking something American and sending it back over with something added or changed from their own culture, even if it's just a different attitude. RnB in particular has a long, rich history of the two countries trading vibe. The other thing is I've noticed Five Star get a lot of youtube love and nostalgia from NYC, Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, how they were big on the black and hispanic radio stations and you'd hear them on the street, out of beatboxes. I wasn't expecting that at all because in Ireland and England they were looked down on by a snobby music press as 'manufactured teeny pop'. I realise that in those urban areas of American, they're seen in the same light as say Lisa Lisa And The Cult Jam. . So they were not only too British but too 'urban' to be marketed as mainstream (consider that at exactly this time Clive Davis was literally bleaching Whitney, in his plan to make her America's new singing sweetheart). Basically racism.
Spot on x
@@deluxedjsireland224 That theory seems very legit. It’s a shame that Five Star’s success was affected by the public putting them in a box in both parts of the world.
What a fantastic group and she had a beautiful voice. Such a shame they weren't around for longer.
Surely the most underrated band of the 80's?.
Wow! I go back in time every time I hear this song, the Good times like this!!!
