Lay the exercise mat and the sun for a while to get it to lay flat. That will save you a lot of grief. Also, I think you'll need a few small gaps in the velcro along the bottom edge to facilitate water drainage. Especially if you store your camper for a long period with the cover on.
Great tutorial video! We have been very lucky on our window but thinking it might be time to do this. Was planning on just buying one as we have a few projects in the works but you made it look pretty easy! Would you do anything different 6 months later?
To secure the Velcro on the windshield, please use glue. It came off because I didn't. Although it was a required step, I wanted to remove it in case I decided to trade it in. Lessons learned.
@@TheGonzoBook I think I saw the same facebook idea but it's nice to see someone put it on RUclips and test it out. I hope the glue holds. The pre-fab covers are so very expensive.
I was in the process of doing this mod but really wanted to see a video of it being done. My main reason was what side to put outward. My husband and I had dissenting views. I wanted the soft mat side protecting window and waterproof vinyl showing. He wanted to reverse it. This finalized the decision!
I'm glad you asked. No, the Velcro on the windshield didn't hold. I believe the girl I got it from glued the Velcro on the windshield. I didn't want to do that, but maybe I should have. 😁 I just bought some new Velcro and will glue it on this time. It should hold.
I actually traced the gap between the windshield and the the edge of the camper. That is where the edging is on the cover. I wanted to make sure the one inch of the velcro on the windshield attaches to the one inch side of the velcro on the cover. For maximum security.

Impressive looking mod! You were meticulous with the fitting/detail.
Thank you RJ ❤ It took longer then expected 😁

Another great Mod. Great work and precision. You could teach the RV makers a thing or two. ❤
I did not come up with the idea myself. I discovered it on Facebook. 😊

I have to go back and glue the Velcro to the windshield. That is the only thing that failed. I believe it will hold after that.

I am glad you liked it. Thank you so much for watching 👀 ❤️
Very nice!!! That's a great idea to protect your window.😃👍
Thank you!! Hope to see you guys again.
I got the materials. Now I need to build the courage……
The only thing that is affecting your RV is the Velcro on the windshield. SO HAVE AT IT!!! Enjoy! 😃
Love it! It's been over a month now...how has it held out?

Can you please post all the links for your materials
Yes Sir, I have been working on that video all day so I will definitely post the links with time stamps tomorrow. 👍 😇🙂
Done!!!! Please look in the description for all the links. 😁
I wish I would’ve watched this before I ordered a very expensive cover.
Thanks for watching 👀 😊 💜
Jose. When you trace the window is it to the outside edge of the window or inside?
