For anyone who's thinking about commenting on Tristans audio quality i just want you to know that the reason why it sounds like that is because he's talking from a room actually full of vampires which is affecting the acoustics.
So THAT'S what happened! I see, I was wondering why that was happening!
There’s a vampire standing in front of the mic
Vamcoustics
He's THE GUY!
@@happenedbychance3392 what's this good comment doing here?
Life is short, but Julia's need for a room full of vampires is eternal.
Life is short, but undeath is indeterminate
just like the vampires in the room
Who doesn't need a room full of vampires?
Indeed.
Best Drawfee character ever.
I like how Tristan sounds like he's speaking through an old-timey radio
My ears bled the whole time but I’m hear for it
Headcannon: He's used lore librarian magic to time travel to find these horrors, and is still communicating from way back when through his TARDIS-equivilant
well at least it fits the old vampire aesthetic
Sounds like a walkie-talkie
@@bfs9114 and I’m here for your pun (intentional or otherwise).
It's appropriate that Tristan is speaking to us from beyond the grave.
He's just getting bad reception in the room full of vampires.
LMAO 💀
I mean the ep _is_ full of the undead
Isn't everyplace outside a grave "beyond the grave"?

Underrated Comment
Tristan's audio quality really adds to the spookiness.
Fancy! And here I was thinking he was using a tin can and a piece of wire.
Actually it was a rock that had really good reception, usually they have terrible wifi
I saw this and thought you were exaggerating.. until I hit play on the video
Karina's Japanese-style rendering of the cat is artistic perfection.
for sure! the second I saw the render my brain went "wait am I suddenly watching a video from David Bull's youtube channel??"
it's such a good rendering!
LAMP
Seems like a watercolour brush! I always love it when she paints.

I was actually stunned!!
Can we all talk about Julia’s “Easy. Breezy. Beautiful. Manananggal” since they didn’t
Honestly flawless execution and goes completely unappreciayed, sad 😔
Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe she’s Manananggal.
Effortless

"Julia already drew this"
I mean, she drew three Spheals; I think it's fine
"No! Vampires are supposed to be elegant and deadly!"
"Ha ha, vampire pumpkin go 'brrr'!"

that should've been a trigger warning at this point

*Distant sobbing*

Okay Karina's render being all classical Japanese colored? Fucking perfect.
The way Julia's went from "hmm" to a tinge of dread when rendered deserves a lot of applause too, I think.

And the lamp is exquisite
Like a very nice Japanese woodcut print.
Karina just writing "LAMP" on her canvas is amazing
Why is no one talking about the adorable doodles on Jacob and Julia's fridge at the beginning?! That's so fucking cute. It's also one of sweetest and most clever love languages I've seen, I love that for them qwq

"Eat hot chip..."
Karina's not going to let go of that until someone gets it, is she?
Buy chiiips
They get it!! 😊 I love that reference
... and lie?
They for sure get it because Jacob also makes eat hot chip jokes frequently
Nathan also made it once but I can't remember
can someone explain it pls?
I like to imagine Tristan is working directly in the field and his vampire descriptions are firsthand accounts.
He's deep in the jungle of the Philippines yelling into a big clunky satellite-phone like the one in Jurassic Park 3
Tristan beaming his voice in from the moon was awfully kind to do, I’m glad it wasn’t too inconvenient
Spooky day is coming up soon, so you guys should draw yourselves as the four horseman of the drawfpocalypse. With each one of you representing a defining factor that makes drawfee drawfee. Julia - horseman of misdirection, Nathan - horseman of mispeaking, Karina - horseman of razzing, and Jacob - horseman of hard stances

@@_Encie yeah I know, I keep my suggestions in my notes so I can copy paste it into the comments as soon as I can. But this doesn't necessarily need to be an October suggestion
It would be hilarious if they just kept finding ways every year to make Julia draw yet another manananggal.
Only if she keeps forgetting.
Ah yes,the room full of Manananggal
The year is 2036. The crew are all strapped into chairs, forced to produce Drawfee episodes to appease their AI overlord, the Algorithm. The theme of the day is humans missing body parts.
Jacob gets the headless horseman.
Karina gets a pirate.
Julia gets the manananggal.
@@DragonbIaze052
what happed to Nathen
@@linkeragon7885 Most episodes only have 3 artists drawing, and Nathan seems the least suited for the prompt. Sure, he would be fantastic at giving us a pirate or a headless horseman or Winter Soldier, but the AI overlords would concluded that there would be a 1.6% higher rate of viewer interaction if Jacob was drawing on this episode instead of Nathan.
Also, it was just really hard for me to come up with a 4th idea.
24:40 “it’s like if david bowie from labyrinth was in cats” WHY IS THAT SO ACCURATE LMAO

Does this mean we need an episode where Karina host an episode about Philippion folklore?
Yeeeeeee
I NEED THE DRAGON THAT EATS THE MOON
I think so
I wanna see the huge dude that chills on trees and smokes (kapre) or the baby vampire (tiyanak)

Good to hear from Tristan again even if he communicated by sending smoke signals through chicken wire
From what I remember, Jack O’lanterns are based on the Irish man Jack O’ the Lantern. He kept trapping the Devil and making deals repeatedly until the Devil promised he’d never go to Hell, but Jack didn’t meet Heaven’s standards so wanders eternally. The lantern part is because the Devil took pity on him and gave him an ember of Hellfire to light his way, which Jack put in a turnip to carry, as you do.
Yeah. If I remember correctly, jack o’lanterns became pumpkins when the tradition came to the Americas because pumpkins are native to the southern US and Mexico, so they were more readily available than turnips.
Before Christianisation of the Pagan British Isles it was actual skulls that were used. Skulls were lit with candles so as to invite the friendly dead and scare away the unfriendly dead. Halloween itself actually comes from the Pagan festival of Samhain. Jack O' the Lantern was essentially brought about to further kill the British Isles' (and, to an extent, French) Pagan religions and suit new Christian society. :)
Vampire Julia intro is legit one of the best things. Room full of vampires will always live in our hearts looool

Here in Scotland, we still sometimes carve turnips (large ones, often called a swede or rutabaga) into a lantern called a Tumshee.

"That cat is toooo old."
Tristan is doing an excellent 50's radio host impression, and it really adds a lot to this episode! I like it. SpoOoOOOooky
He's actually speaking through a haunted 3ds microphone OooOoOoOoo
I was so caught off guard by the image Karina showed from her childhood, I did not think it would look like a weird yet innocently cute fairy cartoon girl lol.
Fun fact the origin of jack o' lanterns partially originates from Irish folklore; Stingy Jack (also known as Jack the Smith, Drunk Jack, Flaky Jack) anyways it's about a guy who tricks the devil twice and when he died he couldn't go to heaven and the devil made a promise to not take his soul so he was forced to walk the earth with a burning ember, he carved out a turnup to carry the coal. The name they called the ghostly figure was “Jack of the Lantern,” and then eventually evolved into “Jack O’Lantern.” (there is more to the story but I didn't want to type it all out)
When Julia says "I wanna hug my kitties now", I felt that in my soul

@@NessaOfDorthonion it's around 35:45 .. I'm actually not 100% sure it's Karina laughing super hard but I'm pretty sure it is 😭
Some additional fun stuff abt manananggals: the reason that putting salt/garlic on the bottom half would cause them to die is bc it prevented them from putting their halves back together. And if the halves arent reunited by sunrise then they die. So what they’d do is bury their lower halves somewhere hidden whenever they went out so no one would get to them and salt em up
When Tristan read the description of the Mananangal and mentioned "separation the torso and growing bat wings" My first thought went to literally spreading open the ribcage like wings. Similar to the Blut Adler execution from Viking myths
Julias new split lady vampire is such a glow up from the older one.
The turnip is true seeing how pumpkins originate from the America's and wouldn't have been in Europe until the 1500's
I had a teacher who immigrated from Scotland as a child - he would maybe be in his late 50/early 60 now? - and they had carved turnips and were Shocked how big pumpkins are that they were now going to have to carve. then they were overjoyed to find the pumpkin is hollow! Hurray. Cause turnips are solid. They carved a solid hard veg. 😵
Yee I believe it was originally like an Irish thing to ward off evil spirits, but it was a thing in Britain too, mainly in the Celtic areas
"Wait, so the wings grow out of the spinal cord?"
"Where else are they supposed to come out of?"
"Maybe the shoulder blades?"
"... that doesn't make any sense."
You know what? Fair.

*Nathan sits on window frame, one leg out side, playing a lonely violin*
He’s drawing like Rohan Kishibe in the chase intro.
Fun fact! The “stabbing yourself to not magically fall asleep” also shows up in Irish mythology! Fiona Mac Chumaill had to stab himself in the face with a (flaming?) spear
that'd probably make me sleep faster, on account of being dead
which story was that? haven't heard it before!
Sounds legit.
@@rowan_like_the_tree "For 23 years every Samhain (a Gaelic festival to mark the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter), the fairy prince, Aillen Mac Midhna, would lull the men of Tara to sleep with his fairy music and then burn the roof of Tara to the ground with his magic. The Fianna were powerless to prevent it. When Fionn arrived at Tara he promised Cormac Mac Art that he would get rid of Aillen and this would prove his right of inheritance to the title of captain. Fionn was armed with a magical spear and while Aillen played his fairy music, Fionn kept himself awake by sticking the point of his own spear into this forehead and the pain stopped him from falling asleep. Fionn killed Ailleen with the spear, he cut off his head and carried it to Tara so that when dawn broke and the High King and his warriors awoke from the enchanted sleep they would see that Fionn had killed Aillen." - from the story of how fionn became the leader of the Fianna
