About the "don´t throw bottles out the window-sign". in the old days glas-bottles was of some reason thrown out of the window, the glas could start fire´s and the shattered glas could harm the wildlife. The bin for garbage wasn´t that big so bottles was to put somewhere else
Thank you very much for your answer! Almost every sign has an interesting story or a big reason behind it. I hope that today no one throws bottles (or anything) on the tracks.
In the 70's there's 2 thru trains from Paris to Kobenhavn, one you leave Paris at 17:00 and arriving at 9:00 and the oher was at the end of afternoon.@@PointOfTrips
Fun fact: That Bistro car you got used to have a cinema and those pictures with the raindeer used to be movie posters. Then the tablets came and together with the free onboard wi-fi, the onboard cinema closed down.
I've been to the Central Station in Stockholm probably 10,000s of times - never noticed many of the details you showed here. How can I have missed those paintings? lol
The new X2000 also goes from there and is simply called X2C, some of the trains there are X2K and are made for traffic in denmark and there is also another trainset called X2U that is the X2 but has watercooled engine like the X2C
@@Rodoeht12345 They cool down using water, can't explain much as I don't know how it works in depth but ye the normal X2 and X2K use fans as you can hear from them when they are starting to move
@@jultomten3739 So you base that assumption on them being more quiet? Well, that isn't true as far as i know. If anything is cooling the equipment in the motor unit it's oil and air. Both the compressor and the transformers are oil cooled. Then they have redesigned the cooling fans with better aerodynamics and PWM-control instead of just 2 speeds, half and full as on the old units. In fact, the cooling is so efficient that it sometimes gets below freezing in the equipment bay in the winter time, but this is also due to the modern electronics not producing so much heat in there, as well
@@Rodoeht12345 I've read one some article while researching about it and im not saying that it's water cooled due to them being more quite, i'm not a idiot. But as they are water cooled they make less noise im not saying that is the soul proof that they are water cooled. Also note that water cooled does not mean water like you seem to be talking about water cooled means liquid cool, It's like pc water cooling that does not always use normal water
Also one thing about the SJ intercity that is pulled by a loco if you sit in a car near the loco (Rc6) you can hear the breaking very much and it's quite anoying
That entirely depends on the consist composition, some cars have disc brakes and those are quiet, but those with block brakes are noisy and you really can't tell beforehand which are gonna run that day so it's a gamble if you get a car with disc brakes or not
Thanks for posting. Isn’t Stockholm station concourse a delight? Wouldn’t it be great if Euston had murals depicting places served by the West Coast Main Line?
Good video. We liked both Oslo and Stockholm and had good trips on both the Norwegian and Swedish rail systems. Most of the trains aren't especially fast but they are clean, comfortable and punctual.
@ 8:00 It would be cool if you could show in future videos the menu of the restaurant/bistro car. IMHO if you spend quite some time in a train, it is nice to know what you can eat and drink there.
Nice video! Yeah, the Intercity trains aren't the best, and there haven't been any development nor investment for better trains and faster route between the two capitals. Hope it changes in the future!
The trains between Stockholm and Oslo - 2 Scandinavian capitals - are often cancelled. It's time the corrupt politicians were thrown out of the Swedish and Norwegian governments and a proper, hourly, reliable railway service between these two cities was established. I suppose it's because Sweden let the Germans march right through in WW2 with no resistance, and the Norwegians are still resentful over this.
Good luck with that with the slow and cumbersome lines on the Norwegian side of the border... The Swedish side has gotten relaid tracks and pretty straight sections at least up to Karlstad with a 200 km/h track speed.
I think the old Swedish trains, made of real Swedish steel (and not that crappy steel Made in China) have character. If you need speed, then fly. @@PointOfTrips
I travel from Oslo to Gothenburg in a coach (and it's like a train): ruclips.net/video/H5h7Ly4NXGM/видео.html.

Loved the friendly dog and it’s comfort toy. 👍🏻🏴
Me too! The dog was so friendly. 🥰
We who lived in Scandinavia have always been able to travel free without passport, we only need a ID-card i.e driver licence.
I visited Scandinavia in the 70's with InterRail great souvenirs around these countries.
So nice and interesting countries, yes!

Nice that you got to ride a train with the old theatre wagon!

Wow, I can't imagine! 😄 I will try to find some picture about that. Thanks for this fun fact.
Informative, thanks. An audio would be good though...it would add an extra dimension too.
Thanks for your comment and suggestion, Thomas!

Also wierd to see a Y2 in hallsberg they only run between Linköping - Kalmar and Linköping - Västervik, also sorry for 3 comments xD
Thank you very much for your comments! So interesting and expert information. 😊

It's a delight, yes. 😊 And yes, I think it's a great idea to link the main stations with its routes through art.

Yes! Absolutely. I suffered a little lack of air conditioning on a very hot day, but I understand that in Nordic lands it is an exceptional situation.

Thanks for your words! And yes, I hope so too. Stockholm and Oslo deserve a good connection.
Some of the services are operated as Snabbtåg, and are run with the X55 EMU's

What a rubbish train. Clean but completely outdated.
IMHO, I also think the train needs an upgrade, probably starting with the restaurant car.
