- In Paid Partnership with HART Tools USA The large window we added on the north side of our Victorian farmhouse was looking a little bland. Luke and I changed that with this quick weekend project, a DIY window box planter. Now I get pick hers right from my kitchen window.

It looks really beautiful. For anyone who wants to do this, I would recommend finishing the inside of the wooden box with something to protect it from rotting from the moisture of the soil.
You and pine and prospect have window box videos right after another in my feed 😁
I love your window box ! It looks Beautiful.
Looks amazing! Only thing I would’ve added was black landscape liner on the inside to protect the wood more.
Your window box turned out beautifully!💐
Nice window box, turned out great.👒🦋🌷☀️😊
I love this! It looks so good there too. And what a bonus that you can just pop the window open and snip off some herbs! 😃
Game changer!
Beautiful Lisa! Y’all did great!! And y’all’s place looks great!!
The window box looks so cute.
thanks!
Window box looks beautiful 🌺
"one line less than 6 and a half" I love it! My husband and I were installing trim last week and I said the same thing! The window box is beautiful 👌
Beautiful Lisa, and so charming♡ awesome job♡ thank you for sharing it all♡
Yes! I say keep going with those gorgeous flower boxes, That would be so awesome to open your kitchen window and grab some fresh herbs 👍
I LOVE flower boxes. I wish every house had them. They are SO charming!
Window box looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.
They look awsome and you made them look very simple to do. Thank you for inspiration.. Stay safe 🙏💖
Subscribed! This turned out quite lovely!! Thanks for showing us your project!
Beautiful! One tip: mint is well known for being incredibly invasive. It loves to completely take over beds and containers and choke out other plants and, depending on the variety, it can be quite difficult to kill. It should be planted alone in a container.
Yes I thought that too
I love window flower boxes!! Beautiful job!
😱I LOVE YOU😱
🐞"CLUTTER BUG" SENT ME OVER🐞
Now I want window boxes!
This is so pretty! Adds a ton of character to the house! You guys did a great job with the design! Lisa you never cease to amaze🙂
awe thank you so much!
That is just adorable! Good job!
“Six and one line less than one half”😂. So funny Lisa! That is how I measure too and it drives my finish-carpenter husband nuts!
haha yeah! Why do I have to know what it actually is. 😜
Haha, I'm sure he is like "oh crap with this imperial system" LOL! I can totally relate as I grew up with metric and can attest that it makes a lot more sense.
Hahaha we work in millimetres in Australia and good to know this is not just a problem here Hahahaha. I prefer to hold the “dumb” end and make hubby work out the measurement
Love your flower box, Lisa. Luke did a great job and how convenient to open your window for herbs. Enjoy!
We’re total strangers, but I'm just so happy for you for all that you have been able to create and accomplish. I love that you and your husband are debt-free with such a young and growing family. So wonderful and inspirational.
awe thank you so much!
I want one now! I've always wanted one for my dining room windows and kitchen. I love opening my windows to bring in light and flowers herbs birds etc. Great idea and great job!!!😉💕
Looks so beautiful! But I would reccommend adding a liner inside as the wood may rott from the water 🙂
Cedar doesn't rot easily. Especially with the drainage holes. That's why it is one of the best woods to use for above-ground garden boxes, as well as window boxes.
I was going to suggest a liner as well, although not necessarily to prevent rotting/splitting, since cedar is pretty resistant to that...
I was thinking of a liner if they feel like trying a DIY followup next year, to convert the box to a self-watering system. We did a few this spring and it was much easier than I thought it would be.
Apart from the obvious benefit of easier watering, it also allowed us to channel excess water out of a single hole in the bottom of the box, _away_ from the side of the house. We have white brick, and the old drainage set-up, which was similar to what they did here, resulted in a certain amount of dirty water trickling down the face of the house beneath the window boxes.
Soooo nice!!!!👍👍😍
Love it! It looks so good! Great job you two!
Your window box looks beautiful. You will enjoy this in every season. Great job. Love it.
This is next on my list - I love the clean look of yours! It lets the flowers shine
I bet Luke really appreciated all those new tools. I know I would.

Looks great in your house
What a great project, it turned out fabulous! Well done Lisa and Luke!
Love your flower box if I were you I would plant some nasturtiums because they have edible blossoms and you can use them on food safely with herbs

So pretty!
The flower box looks beautiful. I love the pink and yellow flowers you put in it. ❤️
That is the frosting on the cake. I love it. I am happy for you to get something so pretty. You guys also did a great job and work together well. Joyce
This looks great and you'll be able to enjoy it all the time as it's outside the kitchen window. Love how excited you were about it 😃 I get excited about projects like that too x
I just love the charm and character a window box brings! This turned out so beautifully Lisa!
thank you so much Kristi!
I could not love this more! Its stunning, and really fits the face of the house.
thank you so much!
Love the window box. I want to add one for our kitchen window too.
Love your window box it adds so much more character.
Thank you for sharing
This video came at the perfect time. I am planning on making some window boxes for my house and I can't wait!! Your window boxes look amazing!!
Window box looks great! Love the mix of herbs and flowers. Mint is a must in a herb garden for us, we love mint in peach or raspberry hot tea. You’ve probably got commenters saying this, mint will take over, I think you have the option to leave it in a container and plant the container in the window box.
Great job! The window box is perfect for your farmhouse!
LOVE the window boxes - great idea to use the decorative molding!
I just love the way this has turned out its so pretty xx
It is so beautiful! Loved watching Daniel zonk in the carrier too 😉
It came out gorgeous!! Just wait til all the flowers fill in! It is going to be beautiful!
Beautiful ! What a great idea! And I love the idea of cedar and eucalyptus in winter.
Also sage and rosemary will still be green in winter ( I m in zone 7b)
Love the window box! It's a beautiful addition to your home.
Hi Lisa, I love how your window flower box turned out 💗👍💖 so beautiful ! 🥰 Have a wonderful weekend, Chris-Raleigh NC
That added so much charm to the side of your farmhouse, soooo pretty! You can use crushed soda cans or styrofoam peanuts in the bottom for drainage instead of rocks-it keeps the weight down in boxes and planters. Can't wait to see it when all the plants fill out!
Love it! Love it! Love it!
My friend taught me to put a baby diaper, even a used one (no #2), into window boxes, under the dirt. They absorb water and help keep the soil moist if you can not get to watering everyday in the heat.
It looks wonderful!
ohh I've never heard that before! so interesting
I love the window boxed. Gorgeous.
Oh Lisa, that looks sooooo beautiful. I love it! Some cute little shutters would look good too ☺️. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Little Daniel looks like a baby doll. So cute trying to peek around (2:40).
Looks lovely and fitting with the style of your house. Stay safe and well. Thanks from Australia 🐨🐨🦘🦘
Hi, very pretty, you could add some of the trim to the top of the window, just as a finishing touch, now I want window boxes better wait till the external work is done and the raised beds are finished or I'm going to be in the doghouse.
Beautiful! A couple of strawberry plants would be so cute too!
ohh that would be cute!
Adorable!
What an amazing job you both did is so beautiful it really brightened up that window.
Beautiful !
Looks so good!!
Looks great! Love the flower colors.
Great job. Love it
Beautiful ☺️🌸🌼
Looks great!
This is so inspiring and uplifting!! Thank you for this great channel. Bless you and your family Lisa.
Looks great. Want to make them
Omg I want a window box to when I buy my house. Adding maybe some mini roses, or lavender anything that has a strong scent so when I open the window it’s like an additional air scent for the house
Love it! Thanks Lisa to show us how to build it!
We're building some for our kitchen windows soon! Beautiful! For future reference you could just screw on the trim from the inside of the box.😃
It is beautiful. Now I can't wait to get my window boxes installed!😉
That looks so pretty! Another great project!!
So charming really looks nice. Glad you didn’t use brackets this looks so much better.
Thank you! 😊
Oh, it looks wonderful..great job you two!
Clearly we know who the boss is on this project.
Is there ANYTHING that Luke CANT do?! I Love that you can reach out the window for herbs. Very, Very, Very cute! Thanks Walmart.
he's the best!
This looks beautiful! Do all the windows 💖
That's the plan, eventually. ;)
Gosh, I just love the window box! But hahaha the music kinda caught me off guard. :) it’s important to switch it up sometimes. Love your channel!
That turned out beautiful!
Looks so cute! I've always wanted window boxes but I've been afraid of rot so have been hesitant. Our previous home had a wrap around porch and windows almost to the floor so window boxes wouldn't have worked. Our home now has your normal front and back porch so I may have to give them a try.
I love how you said 6 inches and the line above? Thats exactly how I measure lol
well done - looks beautiful
So beautiful!
Just beautiful!
Thank you!
The window box looks amazing. I am looking forward to see what you are going to do with your front porch for the summer. Do you think you will put window boxes on your porch???
Very pretty! 💐
Thank you! 😊
Good job Lisa, it looks great! Be careful of the mint though, it will take over...
Beauteous! 💐🌺🌸🌹🌼🌻🌾🌱
Love! I want one for my kitchen window too :)
