My father told me when I was a young boy that music brings back the love ones who have gone on home, and for years I didn't fully understand until he died and I was sitting in church and an old hymn like this brought back memories of my big momma and my father. Precious memories oh how they still linger. Sing on my brother in Christ
Many nights I cried, and come morn, God gave the morning light. No other explanation, no other reality, God in Heaven is our saving mentality. Thank u very much Brother, for sharing your precious gift.
Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood when the Rev. In the old school broken down churches would sing it like that and when they would sing the whole church would sing and it felt like all of the ancestors from the heavens would be singing it with everybody else in the church praising and worshipping the most high God in the old ways of how our people worshiped. Thank you Jesus for bringing this to me and the rest of the children of God!!!
I can still hear my grandmother at the clothes lines singing this hymn and still to this day it runs chills through my body. It seems we have forgotten about the old time religion. We need to go back and get it this is what got us where we are today. Thank you JESUS
I long for this sound,it took me back to my Parents Home Church when the DEACONS ran the choir, when the doors of the CHURCH opened and the DEACONS filled the Altar!!.. May GOD bless you and keep you !
My grandfather was the chairman of the deacons board, and this was his favorite. He would sing this hymn every Sunday morning. Brings back so many great memories.thats why I follow you. Thank you.🙏👍♏
Yes sir! I grew up hearing this from the elderly men before the Pastor started his sermon. I had no idea what they were saying but 30 years later Im up at 3 am looking for just this❤❤❤
You better say that sir. Reminds me of a deacon that’s gone on. He would sing, and the spirit would start moving. I miss that. Churches are not the same. We need to go back! We are losing a generation. They need to know Jesus is real and He is soon to come. Be blessed.
Today is January 24th 2019...And my Toupee just jumped from my scalp and ran down the hallway shouting!!!!! Son you BETTER SANG THAT HYMN!!!!! YES SUHHHH!!!
I first heard this hymn in a wooden church on a dirt road in Texas. I couldn’t ever follow it on my saxophone - that was 30 years ago. Now that you have posted this, I can practice it! Thank you
Sir you got me on my knees thanking the lord.you voice remind me of my old down south church in Louisiana my folk used to take us every sunday. You have a great voice
God bless you, Brother. You are anointed to worship God, with these Hymns and Songs...My spirit and soul, is alive and set on fire! My sister, just passed away to be with, the Lord Jesus; and when we were kids, we used to sing these songs, at the old Baptist Church.
thank you, thank you, I was trying to convey this type of singing to my children, when I was a young girl, I would visit my grandparents church in East St Louis, they were Baptist. I didn't really understand it but I loved it. my grandfather was the head deacon and often led these songs, he has passed on now, but whenever I think of him, I always remember the songs, this is bringing bitter sweet memories to me
@@Malone_The_Maestro1 so sorry, I'm just responding, I just noticed this today. I don't recall the name of the church at the moment, I haven't lived in East St Louis since I was 7, although we visited countless times over the years. Even attending the funerals of both my grandparents at that same church. I do recall however that my grandparents were relocated from 19th st (a few yards from some railroad tracks with huge storage oil tanks on the opposite side of the tracks) to a house on Bond Ave and the church was just a short walking distance from their home, I do have a lot of that information, unfortunately though we have recently relocated to another city, placing the bulk of our household's belongings in storage. I can convey that info once we are completely settled.
Brother Williams where are you sir. This this morning is saving my life. It's helping to rededicate and refocus and save my little ragged soul. I thank you for doing the old time he and the old time devotional. The church then got to fancy this is what we need we need some of this from the heart and from the soul and from the belly in the name of Jesus!
Church sung this as my mother and uncle closed the casket at my grandmothers funeral. She always said thats what she wanted and thats exactly what we did. Amen. Gotta love these Dr Watts
I remember when I was a kid at church with my grandparents. Watching my granddaddy and the rest of the decons sing this song during devotion at Sunday morning service. Amen brotha. We as a people need to go back to the structure of big mama and grandpa keeping us grounded in a foundation that puts God first. God bless you brotha for reminding me of that 🙏🏾🙏🏾💯
This is one of my favorite childhood oldies, long before I joined a mega church with its contemporary worship style. When you introduced the tremolo in the left hand, all I could think about is the sisters (back in the day) taking this a cue to get their shout out. Your style refreshes my spirit!
OH MY.....It's after 3am....and I have my Daddy on my mind. My Daddy and the deacons use to lead devotion with these songs! RIP Daddy!!!! But.......Nobody sang like Mr. Price!!! Even as a kid...I knew he had some reverend in him. Now he is a pastor. The only thing I regret is not seeing or noticing Rev. Price at my Dad's funeral until we were leaving the cemetery. I would have given my last breathe to have him lead us in a old school hymn.
Brother, you have a blessed calling on your voice! One day I was looking for old-school church songs and after I had looked at all of Mississippi, Chicago, and Georgia mass choirs., I came across you singing guide me oh thou great Jehovah.....wow! Continue the wonderful work. I'm now going thru your songs, brother you've brought back wonderful memories. I'm a beginning/intermediate bass player and now I play along with you when I'm at home.
This is the type of singing I grew up on,. And until 5 years ago when my pastor retired and a new pastor came. This will always be a part of who I am and it brings me Joy. Thank you brother
Let’s have devotion right now come on in the room Jesus remember hearing this all the time at church ⛪️ home 🏠 wherever as a child an if this didn’t do anything to you when you hear it something is seriously wrong with u
Beautiful. This is a lost art. A lot of people have forgotten how to carry this particular hymn or Dr. Watt as we would say in the old Baptist Church. They could carry the first line and second line but they forget that the third line start all over like the first one and the fourth line is like the second. You have to come to Louisiana and sing. I love it. You blew "Shine On Me" out the water. Glory to God. I love hearing you.
