hey everyone . I saw this video a year ago in October and since then have changed over 8 of my lights to wireless without any problems. this guy really knows his stuff. thank you Shawn
Nicely done video. I did the same with ADJ Mega Tripar... which have no 12v...only 70v. Ended up using 110v to 5v and externally piggybacking the wall wart and using a scrap USB cable back inside to the pcb. The added bonus is being able to disable the wireless when desired. Thanks for making this,.
Nice Video and very informative. I have just added the same DMX RX boards to my lights. Luckily I found a spare 5v power source already on the DMX board and was able to use this. The Chinese DMX receivers only draw about 45ma and worked a treat. I had to careful on the wire wiring colours they use as I find them inconsistant. Out of 8 boards I ordered at least half changed the wire colours on the positive and negative output !! The data outputs also varied as well. Thanks.
this is the most practical and most detailed video I have watched so far, thank you. I will be using this on my lights too, and will try the idea out with speakers too and see how it turns out!
Thank you so much for the awesome video!! I ordered the boards and the usb inverters, git them in and did my first one! Works great! Only 15 more to do. Lol. Thanks again!
So awesome! Thanks for putting this together! Nice to know that it's possible (not sure I'll have the time to convert mine, and mine are the EZPar64s, but I appreciate the time you spent putting this together!
This is a very informative video. Where can i find the wiring schematic for the dmx boards? And the setup procedure for pairing and setting groups on those wireless dmx boards? How does any one board know that it is the transmitter or reciever? Do the boards remember their settings after power is removed? Or do i have to set channels after each setup? I plan to do this type of retrofit on a number of different fixtures, and I am gathering detail. And Thanks a bunch for a good clearly presented video.
+unsayablestormable The wiring is about standard for any China based seller of DMX board. If you search "wireless dmx 512 board" on Ebay you'll see how they wire and group. Yes, the settings will be saved after powering off. Just make sure you have access to the settings button once installed, just in case you need to change groups. The DMX boards are receivers and transmitters. To Transmit, wire to the DMX OUT and to Receive, wire to DMX IN.Thanks for watching!
Great video. What are you using to transmit the dmx signal. I am using mydmx 2.1 to manage my dmx scenes and wanted to use an appropriate transmitter for the signal.
This is great!! I am gonna convert my ADJ Mega Pars. I have been using the same as you with the plugs. Which I do have the same problem managing power. Like the idea to be able to once again daisy chain them together again. I ordered 7 now.
Edgar Ramirez You can run as many wireless units as you need on the same DMX channel. I have over 35 fixtures using the same channel within the same room with no delays or problems. Thanks again for watching!
awesome video. btw in DC as long as the amps is higher then what you need. It dos not mater if it's 20 amps and you only need 750 mill-amps.. it will only use what it needs.
+Paul Jeffries (Happily Ever After Vlogs) I would not go over 1000 MA's if the DMX board requires 750MA. Your post said 20 amps and not milliamps. Please be careful when working with in-rush currents and always be safe when working with any power. Good luck and thanks for watching!
All ways careful my friend. What I am trying to say if the board requires only 750MA and your power source has 20amps the board will only use 750MA In DC amps is only used for what it needs. you could have 100 amps and it would only use 750MA. Great video Love all of them!
Wow Shawn it's good to see you again and great video man I wish I would have kept my old Chauvet Lighting I would have tried that. Thanks man I wish you the best of health happiness and success from DJ Rocky
Wanted to let you know that I also installed these wireless DMX boards into 6 ADJ Led Spots. You just have to find a 5 volt supply wire within the fixture. If one is not available, then you will need the USB board. Most Led lights have a 12 volt supply somewhere in the fixture. Let me know how your project goes!
328 ft indoors and 1640ft outdoors. Keep in mind these numbers are based on other 2.4Ghz frequencies like cell phones, walls and other factors. Ranges could be more if line of sight is greater or less frequencies in the air. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Hi, I see it's been a while since you've done this video I'm thinking to buy 30 of this lights. Does it worth the money or should I consider another kind or model of lighting. I need it for rental purpose.
The light is great for the buck! You can even do the RGB version which is about $99.00 vs the RGBA at $119.00. If you want to just have a light that you can plug-in and go, then Chauvet is my choice! Chauvet also has battery with wireless starting about $199.00 and might be what you want to buy for a rental item. I did this video because I have a lot of the RGBA units and I think they are still great fixtures and needed a wireless DMX solution. Good luck!
First thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I see a deal on sweetwater for 129 the slimpar64. I'm about to go for it and use your technique for the wireless Dmx part. Have you used those before? If yes do think I should go with those?
thanks man, i'm doing This Project in the Ezpar 56, i found the 5 volts and the 12-volt too, im using the usb port but im going to try to use the 5 volts, in This Way i dont have to buy the USB port 😃
+EA Concert Illumination Production I'm don't know much about ADJ's WiFly, however after looking at the specs it still using a 2.4Ghz DSSS (direct-sequence spread spectrum) radio that also covers the 5.8Ghz telecommunication band. Not tested using the China DMX 512 Boards, but I would assume the WiFly would still communicate, as it has 16 channel groups. Please let us know if you decide to try it out! Thanks
Why wouldn't just buy some 6" XLR male to female extensions, so the wireless input doesn't stick so far out the back & keep the warranty of the product? Seems so much easier.
+Neil Folkes The point of this project is to eliminate extra wires and power by installing a wireless solution for faster setup and less cabling. Thanks for watching!
+Shawn Garner don't get me wrong, u did a good job!! And I totally get the application. For me and probably most, it's a time consuming project, that's a bit involved. If the Chauvet spots have power inputs, and the wireless applications allow me to save me from having to run the xlr cables in series from unit to unit, that's enough for me. Again, ur video & the instructions are great! Just a bit much for me.
Not a bad item to try. Did a search and this would have cost just about as much as the USB chargers for a buck each. I do like how simple the setup/install would have been. Thank so much for the information and feedback!

I just ordered a couple 9800mah batteries to start converting. Great video!

Great Video! I've already ordered the 12v to 5v boards. I'm looking forward to the next video.
DJ Idlemind, "The Appropriate Agent" Sorry for the delay. Part 2 is rendering and should be uploaded tonight. Thanks again!

Standard 2.4 GHz transmitter should work fine with MyDMX.
Great Video , Appreciate your time in making this .
what are you using as a transmitter to control these ?
Just tap into a 5v source inside the light. There should be several parts of the circuit at 5v, saves the need for a power converter

nice video, i want to know something ,how many lights can I control in one channel using this dmx board ?

AtlantaMusicDJ.com Thanks for the comment! Great light for the price and still use them when needed.

How far is the range for this setup? Also, if I set up in front of a crowd at a wedding will the signal be strong enough to reach the pars?

Also look at the EZpar 64 RGBA Battery-powered or see my video on the battery upgrade for the SlimPar64 RGBA. Thanks again!
Part 2 is ready is ready... ruclips.net/video/3SnaS6Rc-_A/видео.html
I will! I may post video of it as well....of course crediting you for the idea of doing it.

Brilliant. great job.
Tip use LM7805 shrink wrap it it's a 5v regulator and use hot air gun
Shrink wrap is must and a great tip. Wish I had a heat gun when doing this video. Thanks for sharing!
Ordered 20 dmx wireless pcb I'm installing it to all my fixtures I will use 5v regulators lm7805
Hey how much do you charge if you do the same thing as my up lighting !
Sorry, I don't do this to make money from other people and don't want the responsibility if something should happen. Thanks for watching!
How many channels are these dmx boards?
7 ID groups, 2.4Ghz with 127 channel frequencies
+Shawn Garner say I wanted to use my ADJ Wifly battery transceiver could I luck in to a signal

good stuff! thank you for your time!
It's far easier to tap 5v from the back of the LCD display panel... no need for the 12v - 5v board.
I did this same thing but I used little lm05 based regulator boards rather than hacking chargers
I would like to know more about the regulators and how you made or where purchased them from. Thanks!
