eeee!! such an exciting thing to experience second hand!!! 🥺 will definitely refer back to this video when mine comes in😆 thank you for the helpful info!!
I hope to get a wheel and kiln this year, so I really enjoyed watching you set up your studio and unbox your kiln. Thanks for taking us along on your journey!
How exciting !!!! 🔥🔥 I'm planning to buy the exact same kiln but I still don't know what to do lol. It would be really helpful if you answer some of my questions about it ! I'm planning to put it in the garage too but I don't have the required outlet for it yet. Did you have it already in the garage or you hired an electrician for it ? How much did it cost you ? Another question is how many amps is your house's main electrical panel ? Mine is 100 amps and I sent an electrician a photo of it and he said the kiln would work fine but I'm scared that it would interfere with the house's electricity. Have you had any issues with it ? Does it dim the lights or interfere with the other appliances when it's on ?? Thank you 🙌🏻
Hi Moe! I hired an electrician to install a new breaker because I didn't have an existing outlet that could support my kiln. I don't remember the cost exactly but I definitely called around and got multiple quotes to see which would be the most cost-effective option for me. 🙂 I'm not sure how many amps my breaker panel is but I haven't had any issues with it affecting the electricity in the house while it's running.
it is exciting, my curiosity is about the voltage, amperage and Hz. Each Kiln comes with its instruction if your household or garage has the right amount of electricity. In the panel, I believe tells you which amperage are where around the house. Plus every appliance including kiln has a label which displays those 3 elements, voltage, amperage and Hz. This area of the electricity is more serious than putting pottery into the kiln and wait to be baked.
This is so exciting! :) I just moved out & I’m thinking about buying a wheel because the nearby studios are a decent drive away. Do you mind sharing what wheel you have/where it’s best to look for new & used wheels?
Aw how exciting! I bought my wheel on amazon because I was just starting out and wanted an cheaper option. It's a bit smaller than standard pottery wheels but it works great for me! If you're looking for a used wheel though, I would look on offer up or facebook marketplace. There are also a couple facebook groups where people sell their used wheels/other pottery supplies 🙂
Hey thanks for sharing your process! I dream of getting a kiln soon too! Just wondering if you needed to hire someone to rewire anything and approximately how much did it cost? Any other tips would be appreciated on your buying process. Love watching your journey thank you! 🙏
Aw thank you Marija! 💖 I did hire an electrician to wire a new breaker for me and I believe it was somewhere between $250-$350. Luckily my studio space is located close to my breaker box so it wasn't too expensive. And I chose my kiln mainly based off of its electrical requirements, size, and what cone it could fire to. But I know there is soooo much to buying a kiln so I definitely just did a LOT of research! Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂 Best of luck to you on getting your own! 🤍
hello! loved your video! what kind of ventilation did you install for your kiln? i am planning to have a kiln in my garage in the future as well but not sure how ventilation should work! thank you! ❤
hi minna! thank you so much 💖 i DIYed my own vent system and made it similar to Skutt's EnviroVent. luckily I already had a garage vent so i had somewhere to attach it to 🙂
how is the smell that get released from the kiln? with it venting outside can you smell it at all if you’re outside as well? i’m wondering if it’ll ever be an issue with neighbors 😆 thank you! ❤
Hi I happen to see your comments. I'm having the same concern of putting my first kiln in my garage. May I know how you end up with your kiln fumes? Is the smell serious and bothering the neighbours? Thank you!@@minnamay
@@byslowstudio ahh gotcha. thanks for sharing. I'm a new subscriber, been thinking of getting a bigger kiln than the tiny second-hand kiln i have :) your garage studio is my dream!!
@@lilipe911 aw thank you!! I’m definitely very lucky to have this garage space for me to do pottery in ❤️ and yess I love my kiln so far it’s the perfect size for me 🙂

How do you vent your kiln? Did you just pull the hose out of the door?
my garage has a vent(?) in the wall and i just place my hose there so the air can get outside :)
🎉 this is a cute kiln. I love the size. Can you share the dimension with me ? I want to buy one
thank you :) i love it too!! i have the skutt km818
hi. where did you order it from? thank you.
