When I first started trucking way back in the 70's there used to be a weigh station on the extreme north side of Houston (about 4 miles from where I liven now). When they closed the weigh station down a few years later all of us truckers would use it as a trucker rest area. One night I pulled in so tired I didn't even make it to the sleeper and just fell across the steering wheel and went to sleep. Later, a truck pulled in in front of me, about 10 feet from my windshield, and when I woke up all I saw was TRAILER...started hitting the brakes, trying to downshift, and, I was sitting still! That little ordeal almost gave me a heart attack, to say the least! Good ol' Childress, Texas! I spent many a night there letting my log book 'cool off'! Great video as always, Reed (Hi, Amy!). Man it's so good seeing you two with your granddaughter after her accident and I must say she's looking good in her recovery!! It looks like the prayers helped in healing her!!

Been to The Big Texan once. Watched an Australian guy eat the steak. We were there for a company banquet. He finished just under the hour mark, pants unbuttoned and all. Laughed all the way home about that one.
I used to pass it 2 times weekly driving from California to Massachusetts and back, but never had the chance to stop there. Always under a time limit.

Been by that steakhouse a few times. The wife wanted to eat there on our way back from New Mexico a few years back but I decided we'd eat at the Dairy Queen in Vega, TX. Can't beat a Hunger Buster at a Texas Dairy Queen! Glad your granddaughter is doing well. God bless.

It is nice to see Casey Jay. I've heard that the 72oz steak is hard to eat besides the large amount to eat , but they use a pretty poor steak so it's not a rib eye.

Place of Orlando had a challenge for 5 pounds plus all the sides. Huge baked potato jimungus salad and a half of a row of broccoli. Three medical surgery team ordered the meal and was called in to work ( emergency surgery) . The waitress offered the three meals to he boyfriend and co-workers. Me and my buddy split one and it took us two days to eat most of it. We ended up throwing away at least one regular size meal away. I couldn't imagine one person sitting down and eating a 72 oz steak with the trimmings in one hour or less. Poor person would have to be wheeled out in a wheelbarrow. My hats off to you that have accomplished the challenge. Oh yeah I forgotten the loaf of bread and butter.it was cattleman's in Orlando FL on old winter garden road.

Family and I have eaten at the Big Texan a couple of times. Good vittles. Watched a college football player finish the 72 oz steak. Heck of a vision. Wow! Casey J is gonna be a heartbreaker. Have a safe trip.

Traveling across country, we use to stop in there all the time when I was a kid. I never did the steak challenge but do remember taking home their drinking glasses shaped like a boot.

down here in tx a tornado hit in front of are house but we left and some hail was coming bad lighting next day it was flooding

Been by the steakhouse a few times and the one time we planned to go. We woke up to 12+ inches of snow in Hereford. Maybe next time I get thru there

I've seen it and tried it can't do. I was a truck driver for years. I did Nashville TN to Los Angeles Ca for years and I only run the top side when I had to.
