      It’s not a bike shop chest protector. It’s a moto cross one. Anybody that sells alpinestar should be able to get it. Seen online for $120-$145

    Great point to highlight safety gear. Generally, unless required, many ignore it, but if the whole point is to ride and have fun then safety gear can help keep us all riding and having fun.

      I am blessed to walk away from a bad nose dive on a 6’ drop with a 6’ gap to the knuckle of the landing, I had my full face on which helped but I have been researching body protection since getting home after that ride yesterday , I’ve had 3 spills and this crash yesterday in the last four weeks learning this wet techy west coast nar. Luckily I’m not working until January because of project delays so I can push hard and heal lol

    great vid bro. can't review enough on how important it is to wear gear when riding the way we ride. My friends nefiew just had a crash a couple weeks ago on a pretty tech trail with lots of tree stumps and rock areas there. An experienced rider who decided to go without his gear on and we just heard that he will never walk again. broke his spine in 2 places, broken collar bone, punctured lung and cuts and bruises. Paralyzed from the waist down. So a shout out to ya mate for sharing the importance of wearing this gear.

    2:34 that protective suit looks like it's a decent one. I haven't tried one yet.But for backpack I think I will get Evoc Neo 16L, as I wore out the zipper one one compartment on my Evoc Fr Enduro,
    the others will eventually wear out too, so good idea to get one before it happens, and repair it later, so I have two. I haven't figured out which size I should get yet, I guess I have to try one and see if it fits.
    I still prefer Chincam, cus I can turn my head while riding and film something.

    subscribed. I have a question. Do you have a suggestion for body armor that could help protect against clavicle breaks. I broke my collarbone/clavicle this past weekend and now looking to get more gear for next year.
    Thanks.

      Tuff crash. If you get a knock brace your collar bone is first to go. But it saves your neck. So I dunno.

      I can run it both ways. I like the rear brake on the left but never road moto. My Roomate Lick_the_stamp is a monster tho.

      one of the easier ways to tell is the chin strap, the proframe has a magnet clasp. Makes sense when the heavy duty have the annoying buckle that makes you mad trying to take it off

    Hey, how do you like your neck brace? Got my first windrock experience. I looked around at everyone looking like riot police and said, ya I’m a little underdressed here. Seems to be a lot of mixed reviews in the motocross world on neck braces. Downhill is not as intense as pro motocross, so some of the negatives I don’t think apply to downhill riding... any and all please chime in on your neck brace and MTB experience

    • @SteadySpin
      @SteadySpin  3 года назад

      I didn’t like it. Kept tapping my helmet. But if a crash is bad the neck brace could save your neck and snap your collar bone. Windrock is as real as it gets in my book. Also the only place I like having a DH rig.

    Good video. What size is your A4 chest protector, M/L or XL/XXL? I'm 42" chest, 6 ft, right in between sizes & can't decide on size. I'll have to mail order & so can't try it on first.

    • @SteadySpin
      @SteadySpin  3 года назад +1

      XL. I’m 5-10 at 200. Chest 43. I’d so go with the larger size. It also makes it a little longer. Side note I wear a shirt under it and a jersey over. Nobody can tell I have it on. I never feel it when I’m riding. It for sure saved me on that Snowshoe crash 💥 on my DH bike.

    Anybody think a chest protector is nessacary for a beginner downhill? I'm used to riding BMX and just got a trail bike for everything else including some downhill. I had a pretty good crash a week ago and banged up my ribs so I'm thinking about it but feel maybe it's overkill. I don't hit super big jumps yet in case that matters.
