Music is universal. If you have the will to do it - may God grant you the strength. If you try to cut people who have talent and ambition, it's only out of jealousy. These folks are dedicated to their craft and no one can deny the joy it brings them. Nothing entitles you to make music - only a passion. Booya! Malinke music is a gift from God!
The people in this group simply have a genuine interest in drum and dance and have gone way far out of their way to support and respect the African artists. This group has helped to make a lot of positive things happen for the Guinean artists , and when you sit here and blindly hate you display how archaic and ignorant you really are. We all have something to share. Stop being so closed minded and embrace the future.
That's so funny that someone gave you a thumbs down. lol I live in the Bay Area and I already know how Santa Cruz, a predominantly white town gets down. You should have seen the all white sabar dance company that opened up for Youssou N'Dour several years back. Man the Senegalese community was appalled. lmao! Welcome to California!
if you were to look to the right under "Related Videos" you'd see that its 75% black africans. IN AFRICA. when it comes to the whole skin colour thing i find it ridiculous that through history there has been so much drama, when we are all the same under the skin. BUT- i fully agree, and i think its great that you care about your heritage. too many people in this world have lost sight and seem to have forgotten where they are from. its a shame. just my 2cents. Where you from anyways?
I don't care what other race embrace our culture, but I'm pissed cause there's no videos of BLACK people doing African dance...We need to embrace the culture MORE then them. Being universal has NOTHING to do with it...
Yep,, and with such strong music, too. We must be just like you darkskin people. You work 10 times harder to work or play within another groups culture. Most outside folks do not know this fact. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are not only the example,,they are the Perfect example of this formula. 💗!!!
personally i'd take out the chimes or whatever the background sound is and replace it with a slightly more subtle instrument :/ excellent drumming though!
The drumming is great but I'd like to see more energy from the dancers, I don't feel like they're giving it their all...that's kinda slow for soko, let's pick it UP!
Yasss,, you are right! Plus, no ballet, no breath control tech, no relationship with the earth, no understanding of height range or texture, no communication with drummers, spacing is off, no timing range, too even,,,and blocking view of drummers at the end of the piece. Outside of all that,, it was a great opportunity for these rookie girls, to dance with such refined and powerful musicians. These girls are just not experienced enough to dance with all of these drummers at once. And Last,, whats with the split chorus dance line. Too, too, high school!! They might consider a two part performance. First,, half drummers, then add dance, then dancers off, bring all drummers add drum solos, girls reenter for last 3mins to signal finale, with 30sec dance, then,,all together at finale. Maybe adding only 3 to 5 extra minutes !!

well -ok there were some artists of color....we use to catch all kinds of grief for being white and playing this music...
