  • The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says the government’s defence spending in the budget is the “most scandalous failure” of Labor.
Defence spending in the federal budget shows $50.3 billion in 10 years, however, only $5.7 billion is being spent in the next four years.
Mr Sheridan told Sky News host Peta Credlin that the “sky-high figures” Richard Marles talks about, is like a “bad episode of Utopia”.
“He’s talking about spending in 10 years’ time and in 20 years’ time.”

These politicians should be tried in a military court as traitors. When Australia is turned into Ukrain 2.0 the people in charge who failed to protect the Australian citizens should and will be found guilty of gross negligence.

The problem of course is that our previous government didn't spend enough either on defence. And now that we are having economic problems we need to spend more. Defence is an important expenditure especially with all the tensions in the world but as I understand it, future budget deficits are partly thanks to defence spending. But by saying Labor should do more on defence the answer must be that Liberals haven't done nearlly enough in their time. Just look at the issue from a couple of months ago when we realised we did not have enough navy vessels and the ones we had were obsolete. That should have been recognised and remedied by the coalition.

Or this goes back to Rudd/Gillard, who cut defence to 1.6% of GDP. But the LNP whilst not great did get new tanks, SPA, AFV's. So please don't sit there and make out they were just as bad, nobody holds a candle to Labor when it comes to screwing over the defence force.

While you're correct to also hold Coalition accountable, it's not a very good reason to vote ALP.
