Finally someone that realizes the potential here for the bipods other than just ratting, I play support gunner for the full marathon quest and it was a blast. Also a super fun build is a loud M4 with 100 round mags and ACOG
I just started using bipods on my SR-25 for Lighthouse sniping and its so nice that you don't to wait for the sway at a really long range shot. What is even better when you have a fast moving target you can just send a speculative 5 rounds burst even from a semi-auto gun and most likely you will hit the target as it barely moves.
The Bipod has made long distance spray viable. Give me a 75-100 round mag, a scope and let me post up somewhere on Woods or any map with long open areas and I have a blast. Shit is so funny watching people freak out as they get showered in bullets from across the map when they only ever expect the single snap of a sniper trying to hit them
They're good when they work. Otherwise they're too inconsistent to use in combat compared to SPT realisms. Trying to get them to easily lock onto a ledge, window, wall or anything else is such a pain.
I find that sniping with a bolt action with a bipod never really works. It’s really hard for them to be useful when your PMC cannot tilt your mounted gun down at all
Only issues I have with bipods are, as you say, the finicky mounting. And secondly, I am begging to add MLOK/Keymod bipods or let us attach them to the pic rail adapters 😭
The 80 percent recoil has placed a large impact in the way we think about how we play Tarkov. Odds are, BSG overtuned bipods just to show how effective they can be. I would the amount of recoil reduction to drop in half once enough people are using them.
hell no keep it their actually believable it feels like we finaly got a tiny bit of realism in a game that promised it and just never actually delivered tarkov needs less stupid unrealistic bullshit not more
From my testing at least the RPD bipod is dogsh*t. Can't setup on most sandbags you said are good stable platforms and on most surfaces the gun can only point too high to be useful. Forget setting up on the ground entirely. They have to massively improve how this sh*t works.

Been using a M700 with a bipod and a x3/x24 cheap scope, works really well.

Standard is V i believe but it definitely is in the control settings as i set mine to a mouse button
