    Hello nx2000,
    Although many passengers are frequently positive that the annoying noise is broadcast from the track area, it is actually broadcast from the same speaker system that NJT uses to announce delays and other important messages. And yes, it sure does!

    [Continued] The ALP46 was and will continue to be built by Bombardier Transportation. The first order for the ALP46s was made in 1999. All units have been delivered, and all units carry a 7,100 HP potential. In February, NJT placed an order for 27 more locomotives to supplement the new BiLevel fleet. The new locmotives will be classified as ALP46A. They have also placed an order for ALP45DP locomotives, which will begin to be delivered in 2010 and will run in electric and diesel modes.

    Thank You! Which one are you referring to? At 0:40 -- that is an ALP46. 1:42 contains an AEM7. 1:50, is the Acela Express. 2:18 is the ALP44. The engine that looks like an Acela Express, but has a chopped nose is called the HHP-8.

    Good vid !

  • @TrainiacProductions
    @TrainiacProductions  15 лет назад

    That is correct if referring to the HHP-8. That stands for H.igh H.orse P.ower 8000. The ALP44 and ALP46 are not named according to horsepower. The ALP44 was built by Asea Brown Boveri (ABB). The original order for the ALP-44 was 15 units (4400 through 4414) delivered in 1990. A second order for five more units (4415 through 4419) was fulfilled in 1995. The third and final order was 12 ALP-44M units (4420 through 4431) and was completed in 1996. They carry a 7,000 HP potential.

    Hi redsox, its not a P42. Its a P40 which is practically the same as a P42. The P40 is used for power on the AC line and while its operating on the NEC the ALP44 is providing the power with the P40 being used as a Cab Car basically

  • @TrainiacProductions
    @TrainiacProductions  15 лет назад +1

    Again Gabe, I have NO IDEA what the P40 number was. The paint job is the ACES paint job. You can see photos of the train on NJT's ACES site, ACESTrain (.) com

    This is in New Jersey, isn't it? I live in Maryland!
    I do like those silly looking ALPS as well. I was in Union Station in D.C., and an engineer let me go into the Acela. My wheelchair just fit into to door of the powercar. It was a raised platform.

  • @TrainiacProductions
    @TrainiacProductions  15 лет назад +1

    That is an ALP46, which was based off of the design of German Class 101 locomotive

    Ahaha... I'll have to change that! I forgot that it processes relatively quickly...lol

    nice shots (as usual), is the P42 pretty much a cabbage car for the trip down the NEC on the ACES?

    Mr. Trainiac,
    When I was at Hamilton for my trip, I noticed when the train was approaching, this high squeal noise seemed to emminates from the tracks. Saw this too on the subway in the city too. Any idea what this is?
    Also, excellent video. The ACES train looks good.

    ah yes, they are those P40's that Amtrak leased to everyone

    Dude, you OWN Hamilton. How many times have you been there?

  • @pahogger
    @pahogger 15 лет назад +1

    It would be the ALP46 or ALP44. I take it the number behind is the HP rating? Who built these loco's for NJT?

  • @pahogger
    @pahogger 15 лет назад +1

    Good vid. What is the electric engine called?

  • @TrainiacProductions
    @TrainiacProductions  14 лет назад +1

    Yeah, I hate those pieces of junk. If it were up to me, the Comet I's would be back on the rails and the whole fleet of Arrow III's --100% of them -- would get scrapped A.S.A.P.

      TrainiacProductions what do you have against the arrow 3s they were better when they used to have strobe lights but still

      TrainiacProductions The one thing I cant handle is that njt is converting all of the ex- CNJ geeps to non revenue service locomotives
