Halo 3 Trick/Glitch - The Cage

- The "Cage" is a room at the very end of Sierra 117. The room itself has bars around it preventing you from simply walking inside.
Over the course of nearly 10 years, people from the tricking community have tried many various ideas to get inside this room, including Phantom Flip Launching, Phantom Turret Clipping, Phasing, and more. All to no avail. We knew you had to find a way to go past solid geometry, but with the lack of materials, it made the idea of getting into this room daunting.
Phasing near the cage seemed to be "the idea that couldn't fail" since when in solid space you can spawn a player back into playable space. However, we couldn't get close enough to the cage before we died to successfully spawn a player in.
We then started to look at box launching. We had previously tried this idea before and while we could get our bodys in, we couldn't survive going through the wall without splattering, even with invincibility.
One day, when we were messing around with box launching, we actually got sent into solid space alive! Turns out, we hit the edge of the cage's Arch that surrounds the room. When we launched, we "edge bounced" off the arch and it amplified our launch power just enough to send us into solid space. We then knew from past experience if you could place an object past the wall and you hit it as you launched through the wall, you would be able to spawn someone in the cage. We used the pelican for this purpose and it worked!

The Cage has been a long standing tricking challenge and dates back to the first few weeks of Halo 3. Very happy to get this one knocked out, hope everyone enjoys!

I love that stuff like this exists. That friends dedicated to games of the past still actively explore their worlds and seek out new challenges. A lot of times these worlds are forgotten to the public... We play through them, enjoy what they have to offer, and then ultimately that fades from our minds. However, you all treat these worlds like your own. You know everything about them from constantly tinkering within them. This video made the child in me really happy to watch, because I remember exploring these worlds a decade ago with my friends. This was like taking a trip back in time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very few games are built in such a way that your fan base creates & invents off of the created & invented. Such culture demands a diverse audience & understanding of what it means to be a true fan of Halo and it's Lore, for which if you are such a Reclaimer than you understand what a feat this is as the room was made to not be accessible by no one. 👏 Bravo!!! #S117

Not gonna lie but the community for a 2007 game is astonishing. This game is 9 years old and it got a great, less cancerous community than Cod. I am really impressed with your work guys. Does anyone know how many players there will be on 10th year anniversary? Probably 200K. Anyways, great work!
Although I'm not too familiar with Halo's glitching community, the passion you've all put into this is blatantly obvious. Hearing this music when considering the combined efforts you've placed put into completing this challenge actually had me feeling emotional towards the end.

The fact that a glitch tutorial for Halo 3 in 2017 gets hundreds of thousands of views shows the powerful connection people still have to this game, and the Bungie era Halo games as a whole. Even if 343 somehow makes Halo 6 a community-loved game, please don't ever stop making videos like this.
